Isaac still has a chance to get in and someone is salty AF XD the origin of the beef is probably just becuase she was disconfirmed as an assist trophy and Isaac is a popular punching bag at the moment

The problem with that is that that's just a theory. It wasn't confirmed from what i know.
And even it it was...Giygas and Giegue are still different forms. So Giegue would work better as a boss, as the two are still different enough to be called different names.

Earthbound's Japanese name is "Mother 2: Giygas Strikes Back!" You can't strike back unless you're the same character.

No clue about the title, although it is pretty awesome, but the last few days have been pretty wild with (apparently? Didn't really get whether he was the real one or not bc of work) Loz first claiming that "he wouldn't bet on Isaac being in the game", then saying he's in and people have been discussing that for a number of pages. Then this French leak plopped up and it has yet to be fully disproven, so that's what people are currently on about.

In the Japanese version of Mother 1 and 2, Giygas in both games are named Gyiyg, and with the Opening of Mother 2 saying "Gyiyg strikes back." There is some sort of connection between the two. As far as the theory goes, you do have a point. It's kinda speculation on what happened to Giygas between the two games.

The thing with Earthbound is that Itoi made it with the intent of being extremely open ended when it comes to it's meanings and theories. I've heard some say that Giygas is Ninten corrupted by power and hate, and i've heard some say it's ness in an alterate reality, about to be born.

Anything is possible. But mostly i just think it would just refer to Giegue, since the french version names him a different name from Giygas in E:B.

Things are not adding up, we have 62 guest who knows how many are anti isaac and are just collecting screenshots to laugh at us.

I agree it's fake, but that last part sounds very paranoid. I get that historically trolls have always been hounding us, the whole "Pro Ashley Anti Isaac Discord" comments are EXACTLY the type of things they want to see. They want to portray us as a crazy group who has wild theories and makes extreme claims. I get that you are really passionate in the struggle Pwnapplez , really, you are one of the most consistent posters on this thread and in the community. However, I do caution you against making statements that sound very conspiracy theory "Everyone's out to get us"-eqse. It only helps the trolls by giving them reasons to continue trolling us.

Sure but people here aren't saying that. There's a world of difference between buying into a leak, wanting to examine the leak, and outright dismissing the leak.


Gamefaqs hates a lot of stuff. There are also a lot of Isaac supporters over there. I can't speak to the French website, but honestly what does it matter if people we'll never interact with dislike us. And it sounds like an Anti-Isaac discord will dislike us no matter what we do.


You gotta roll with the punches, hun. Any fanbase in our position would be going through the motions to get a better understanding of a leak like this. And any fanbase this size will accrue undeserved hate, that's how things go. Ridley, K. Rool, Geno, Little Mac, Pac-Man... they've all been there.

Honestly who gives a **** if some random online laughs at you. Is it going to ruin your day? Even if and when Isaac gets deconfirmed, they'll laugh at us for a minute then get distracted by whatever content actually got shown. Whatever.

People will hate any fans who want a character in the game, mostly due to the fact they're either scared their character won't be in the game or their character has already been deconfirmed, like the Ashley group you mentioned. I wouldn't worry about other people's opinion on us, we should remain strong while still keeping a positive attitude. Take every leak with a grain of salt and while not keeping our hypes not too much up.

Believe me, if the Ridley fans can endure everything that happened on their long path to playability, we can withstand whatever comes our way these next few months.

But honestly, the mocking won't come from a leak like this. A fake leak is a fake leak, and as far as they go, this one is more well made than like the Gothitelle or Soren ones. The derision will come from the fact we're still consumed by a picture Sakurai tweeted out a month ago that may not even mean anything. The Ridley fans weren't mocked for any fake Ridley leaks, they were mocked for obsessing over a shadow for a year.

Yeah, they speak about a group who talked about creating a fake leak. They all laugh and say things like "who made that fake leak ?" "they believe it", another talk about how 4Chan jumps on every leak, "I told that anyone can believe anything", "I want to tell them to stop believe that fake but I don't care".
Seems like they think that this is fun.

I think that Giegue/Giygas's backstory is pretty cut and dry, if we take his backstory in Mother at face value, he was an alien without parents, so he had never experienced love. And then he was loved by a mother and father (Maria and George), but was then betrayed by his father and had his mother (and his love) taken away from him. So he's supposed to represent like, a person without a mother, without love. So I guess he is also supposed to contrast with Ness, who is loved by his mother (and yet also has a distant father), and maybe he's also supposed to correlate with Porky kind of, because Porky's mother is neglectful and his father is pretty blatantly abusive. So without love, Giygas eventually becomes this embodiment of pure evil. And Porky goes down a similar path and eventually ends up in a machine very much like the Devil Machine/the machine at the end of Mother.

The best thing leaks (fake or real) do is bring up discussion about what is in the leak. It is through discussions that people show their actual support for the topic (not by harassing certain groups). Through support we show what we want and sometimes Nintendo notices. As everyone here probably knows, popular characters were chosen to be added in this latest Smash game. Ridley, King K. Rool, and more were highly requested and Sakurai has even admitted this.

Discussion leads to support, support leads to demand, demand leads to recognition.

For me, I like seeing fake leaks to know who they are wanting for smash, since most of fake leaks are characters they want/expect. And hey, if somehow one random leak got something right is funny how the community will go crazy like the Gardevoir one just because he randomly gave a shot a Richter, or NEOGAF since he predicted Chrom being Roy's Echo and not Ike as most of leakers were saying.

Also the perfect roster for me would be the NeoGaf leak because I would love see that random prince AT from Smash 4 destroying Ridley in a tournament

As an EarthBound fan, it saddens me to hear apparently nobody’s heard about Giegue. Depending on the leak’s sources, they might be referring to his Mother 1 incarnation and just mistranslated. Even if it’s the EarthBound incarnation, that doesn’t preclude a fight against the Devil Machine.

Also, punctuation in French comes after a space.
