I won't even try to predict what Sakurai will do lol. Hoping the fanservice continues, if the next reveal or two are also highly requested/ballot favorites then I'd be able to cinfidently say, yeah this is full on fanservice. As of now, we're just in limbo not knowing who to expect next.

It's funny, because this was the sentiment before Simon and K Rool got revealed.

Ha, that's pretty awesome. It's such a large thread, I had no idea. I only joined today. I thought I had an account from the Brawl days, since I remember scouring every Smash site at that time...but I guess not.

I just had a thought. I will not deny that SK was more popular durring the days of the ballot, the statistics don't lie when it comes to the Consolidation doc. But what if SK holds the same scenario as Chrom, except this time it is with Indie's? Where he was more popular, and was a bit more iconic, but was passed up for someone who had a much more diverse moveset, but was still given some role in the game.

Wait, are you referring to this consolidation data? Because from that and also this compilation of top 10s, Shovel Knight doesn't seem definitively more popular at all. Only two polls on that list had him higher than Isaac and the only other thing favoring him was a more vocal buzz from YouTubers and Twitch streamers surrounding him at that time. It doesn't immediately translate into more voters.

I really didn't realise just how poor the character selection was until comparing the Sm4sh's entire newcomer list with just the few ones we have now. Gotta wonder why it took Sakurai's 5th game to go all out on the fan favorites. I hope it still continues.

Same here. I look at Smash 4's roster and just think, "this feels boring." Or "this feels incomplete.". It lacked not just the hyped characters, but the legacy those characters have for their series and more. It felt more like a promotional advertisement than an actual game.

Ultimate, however, is changing all of that. With the inclusion of all past cut characters and the 8 new ones we got so far, the roster is really starting to feel alive and rich with legacy and possibles and we're STILL not done yet.

Even if Isaac doesn't make it in (and believe you me, I will be very sad), I will be glad that we have the characters we got now so far. (Still waiting for Isaac though. Lol)

That's awesome to hear. I know there's a lot of negativity regarding Isaac and I'm not gonna lie, it gets to me when people discount it as being an obscure series. Truthfully, I have strong memories of the Shining series and reading about Golden Sun in gaming magazines until I finally played it for myself and fell in love. It's such an underrated series, Smash would give it a much needed boost in popularity.

This might sound quite strange, but i thought Bayonetta would've been dead for a long while. The devolpment of 2 was quite catastrohic, and Nintendo limiting it on the Wii U really hurt it. And i actually thought the sales of the game didn't make up for the costs of development. Cause remember, Character actions are quite a niche genre.

But i'm glad Smash Bros gave her a boost in popularity, since she was able to get a third game. (a good reason why any niche franchise should be in smash. *cough* gs *cough* )

And also, 4Chan and Reddit, and including us have a huge subbase of Golden sun fans. We love the franchise to death, and we can at least prove that it wasn't as irrelvent as people make it out to be.

Well I'm late to the party but
I think Shantae have a chance since Shovel is a AT, since he was her rival, like of all the indies she is the top pick now.
The Isaac's hate now is simply fear, fear that his inclusion would take the spot of their favorite, Like I can related to it, since for me Cloud had take Isaac's spot in Smash 4(since both are JRPG MC and are "Magical Swordsman") but I get over it especialy after I 0 to death a Cloud with Charizard.
For me Isaac have a 50/50 shot, if he didn't make would just be for other picks getting priority like Geno or Skull Kid and that would make him DLC candidate, which he biggest rival would be Rex+Pyra in my vision

Personally, I feel like the Djinn themselves would be an item. In a manner similar to DD each one would have a different look and do a different effect. I imagine it'd fly around like a Smash Ball until someone grabs it. Basically, imagine a pokeball that flies around like a Smash Ball.

Also, maybe a cursed weapon. Wouldn't that be the worst/best: "Oh yeah! I got the weapon first and SONUVABITCH NOW I CANT USE B ATTACKS!!!"

Have a few examples.
Items:
Bramble Seed: Sprouts up a spiky plant
Oil Drop: Fire... something.
Crystal Powder: Freeze
Water of Life: Like the S Flag, but only in team battles, restores a stock to a teammate (Maybe only allowed in 2v2s)
Healing Ring: Restores some percent a couple times, then breaks.
Apple, Hard Nut, etc.: Boosts your stat for that stock.

Djinns:
Salt: Causes Rage
Rime: Prevents Special Moves
Char: Something similar to shield break
Gasp: Summons Death's Scythe
Ground: Increases Gravity
Mist: Causes sleep

Sleep bomb could work nicely. As soon as the player throws it, purple fog will appear looming around the opponent and will instantly fall asleep. Any other players that walk into the purple fog will do the same.
Another one could could be Hermes' Water, which will heal all the player's health.

Actually, this is a pretty great idea. It's exactly in line with the item's purpose in Golden Sun, and could be a neat throwback for those of us who played The Lost Age.

I find it funny how they accuse us of being the board dwelling losers, even though I swear to god I saw many of those users there during my brief time posting there originally in late 2015. What were they doing? Complaining about GS, of course... and they're still doing it. Look at this thread though; many of us Isaac fans are new to these forums. I myself deleted my GameFAQs account a while ago, which I rarely used anyways. I definitely haven't been spamming any boards to support Isaac.

I just don't know why these people can't put their time into something more positive. I guess baiting people on video game forums is that fun to them.

Edit: Also, I like how they say no one outside of old school forums cares about Isaac, when multiple posts about him have gotten to the top of reddit and an account dedicated to him which was only created this year has grown very rapidly on Twitter. People do care about Isaac.

Idk about Golden Sun revival being far-fetched. Octopath did quite well and I know there's a lot of fan overlap with Golden Sun there and comparisons were very frequently made between the two at least last I was active on that Reddit.

I can definitely see Nintendo looking at OPT reception and the already paid for promotion in Smash (assuming Isaac gets in) and deciding to give the series another go.

The problem with F-Zero is it's not quite different enough from it's modern imitators on the same systems. Even within Nintendo the situation has changed. Back in Wii days I'd say Mario Kart and F-Zero were different enough to warrant 2 series, while Diddy Kong Racing was sadly too similar to Mario Kart to warrant its own existence. Nowadays, Mario Kart, while still quite different, has moved enough towards F-Zero with changes to speed, track design, and gravity that they don't need to both exist anymore. Suddenly Diddy Kong Racing would feel more different than Mario Kart than F-Zero, which feels weird to say out loud.

You can point out Mario & Luigi and Paper Mario for similarities to Golden Sun, but both of those have become increasingly gimmicky, leaving Golden Sun as the "pure" RPG that Nintendo no longer has (unless it revives Earthbound)
