I play all fighters, but I'm pro in none of them.

I thought I heard that Forward plays Marvel...

I would be surprised if a known pro played KOF, you could ask the mexicans...
hahaha. yeah I know a few hispanics who play with me. Hmm...Forward possibly plays Marvel, huh?

Im just hoping its 2D, or if they do make it 3D, I hope they try to atleast stay to the roots of thier games and not bring us some marvel nemesis failure.
yeah i suck at 3d fighters i hope they keep it 2d...

IHow many of you play other fighters and not just Smash? Do any other pro players play KOF, or something of that nature.
i play just about all other fighters...mainly 3rd strike, cvs2, mvc2, garou, and various KOFs...

3-D would be the absolute worst thing to happen for SFIV, and 2.5 I "can tolerate" however it has to be like MvC2 2.5, with 2-D sprites overlapping 3-D backgrounds and such...okay, that I can take, but not crap like Cel-shaded garbage...that will really piss me off.

Going 3-D is bad simply because of the game elements of Street Fighter...like a full roaming 3-D fighter...how in the world would you make projectiles effective...without making it ridiculously fast? Anti-Airs like Shoryuken would become almost obsolete, because in a full roaming 3-D environment, jumping, almost never, ever occurs because sidestepping/walking is far safer.

Not to mention nearly 90% of all specials would become obsolete in a 3-D realm, however besides that. Street Fighter IV is going to rock, this game is going to make a huge ruckus when it comes out in 2008.

I mean, heck, I might even come out of retirement from fighting games just to play this game for a bit on the competitive lvl.

wuts wrong with cell shaded? have u ever really played a game with cell shading? it looks **** good once u get used to it...and itll prolly be 2.5

and also if u notice, when they fight its only on a straight line and when ken does his shoryuken in the beginning ryu somehow ends up on the other side...could this be rolling/evade?

Cell-shaded will definetly be different from 2-D gameplay, have you played the two and compared them? There is a difference.

Rolling/Evade will be a horrible idea, this is severely limiting characters who utilize long range zoning techniques. I am tired of universal rolls/evade/parry in Street Fighter games. Because it simply kills the use of characters with projectiles, and variety, for all it does is emphasize on rushing down.

Street Fighter was great because it utilized Long/Mid/Close range tactics, and relied upon the individuality abilities of the characters. This meant that if Zangief was going to get in on you, had had to build an offense of learning how to avoid projectiles from projectile characters, and once he got in, he could some of his beastly SPD tactics.

Guile used his SB as an offensive tool to rushdown and keep on poking, and to give him a buffering space to either punish an opponent for jumping at it, or to outzone his opponents.

Sagat's Low Tigers where made to pressure and zone his opponents into making the mistakes of jumping forward. Balrog was a powerhouse rushdown character, who utilized his turn punches in HF to go through fireballs and rushdown to keep the pressure. Or in ST, with his inv. headbutt and high/low dash mixups to keep the pressure.

That's what made Street Fighter awesome, alot of character variety in the way they play. You add something like roll/evade or whatever, and you'll downright remove the abilities of some characters tools that they rely upon.

I honestly want SF4 to have more closer resembelance to Oldschool style, because in there, they had great character individuality and tools, and there was a huge emphasis upon long/mid/close range games.

I'm voting for 2-D, or 2.5 D as in MvC2 style of graphics, not cel-shaded.

OMG! I LOVE STREET FIGHTER!!!

Marvel vs. Capcom 2 FTW!!! ^_^

anyway... for the originals, I have to say StreeT Fighter 2 Turbo which was a good game with basic combat and combos, Street Fighter: 3rd Strike is also among one of my favorite fighting games of all time, you just can't beat it.

as for the Alpha series, I'll say Street Fighter Alpha 3 PWNED!! especially it's wide selection of characters, not to mention it A-ISM super combos which rocked.

some of my favorite characters include:

Sagat (I am so good with him, it's not even funny, seriously)
Evil Ryu
Blanka
Shin M. Bison (PWNS)
Shin Akuma
Ken
Oro

overall, Sagat is the best character ever!! has highly good projectiles and not to mention good combos, which I like. His theme song from Street Fighter Alpha is the best of all time, idc what anybody says

Everybody is. Spam spam spam :/

But that's not the point, Sagat is the second coolest character out of all the Street Fighter characters.

My brother's college has a cabinet for Street Fighter IV. It turned out to be better than I initially thought it would be, but the ugly new characters (Rufus, C. Viper, and El Fuerte in particular are just horrible), ugly looks for old characters seemed to disappear during gameplay, and no Street Fighter III characters is just a stupid idea that everyone should be concerned about. "Let's tell the story of what happened between Street Fighter II and Street Fighter III. Oh, and let's not include Street Fighter III characters, all the people who only play MvC won't play it because they've never played any Street Fighter except Street Fighter II Turbo as kids and were pissed when Street Fighter III was supposed to star all new characters. God forbid we get complaint letters again!"

Seriously, it's like they wanted to make "Street Fighter II 3D."

I think Viper looks cool, it's just that she kinda stands out a lot...

I've been following this game a bit, I really want to try it when I get the chance. Apparently Rufus is supposed to be a little more than just good, and Viper is a little underpowered. The shotos also seem to be going back to a pretty Hadoken heavy fighting style. Other than that though it's supposedly pretty decent, and you know we'll probably see new versions of the game in time so there's plenty of time to improve upon things.

Rumor is the home version is probably going to include Cammy White.

Street Fighter III characters have been in other crossover games, Yun is in Capcom vs. SNK 2 for the GC, Ibuki was in Puzzle Fighter, Alex was in Capcom Fighting Evolution (along with another SF3 character but I cant be bothered looking it up right now) and he's set to appear in that new Tatsunoko vs. Capcom game. If there was gonna be a ST3 character, they probably would have been announced by now, which is a shame, Street Fighter 3: Third Strike is my favourite Street Fighter game, even with its complete lack of Sagat. I wish Ibuki was in this game, she was my favourite character in ST3, other than Akuma, my favourite Street Fighter character.

^^^ I really hope that Cammy rumour is false, I hate Cammy (Cannon-Cannon-CAANNON!), I was hoping for Akuma or Dan to be in the home version.

Um, read at your own risk.

Akuma's already in the game as a secret boss. I don't know why this is a spoiler though I have no idea how anyone would think they'd leave him out.

When Street Fighter III was first announced in Japan, Capcom wanted to do a whole new story with a whole new cast of characters (a la Final Fantasy), so Alex would have been the main character (which he still sorta is :/) and Ryu, Ken, Chun-Li, etc., would be nowhere found. This caused huge uproar within the fanbase, so Ryu and Ken were added back in. It was then that the fans realized that if they complained loud enough, they could persuade Capcom, so Akuma was added in Second Impact and Chun-Li in Third Strike. That's what I was referring to. I think Capcom going at a whole new direction was a really bold move, and they should have stuck to it.

I tried to get one of my friends who plays MvC a lot into Street Fighter III: Third Strike, King of Fighters '99, and SNK vs. Capcom 2. It didn't go over to well.

Cammy is in the console version, but so are Dan and Fei Long(weird choice). Akuma is a hidden boss in the arcade. Maybe he'll be added into the regular roster with the next upgrade to Street Fighter IV?

YES! Dan and Akuma! I just hope that A) Dan is actually a usable character now (although I dont mind if he's still crap, it is his gimmick after all) and B) Akuma isnt broken, I'd hate it if my favourite character was too good (no challenge + johns). What are people's thoughts on the new characters? I have a mixed opinion on them. I like some of them, but hate others. Seriously Rufus!? WTF!? It seems to me that the new stereotype in fighting games is a huge fat guy who isnt a sumo wrestler (looks at Tekken's "Bob"). El Fuerte just reminds me of a male, mexican, R.Mika, and Seth just seems to be an unimaginative clone of Urien/Gill. Then again, I like Abel and C.Viper. They both look like they would not look out place in a 2D SF game.

I just wish there was still hope for Ibuki and Sean (2nd Impact Sean, NOT 3rd Strike)

Bob is strangely cool though. lol Rufus is a somewhat ugly design (intentionally likely) I agree but at least they're trying for some variety. I'd have preferred it if there were more unfamiliar faces in the game no matter how bizzare, but I guess they want to stick close to the classic formula for this one since it's been so long.

I remember many of the designs of the new faces in SFIII were recieved pretty poorly for a bit but people warmed up to it by the time Third Strike came out.

Just wanted to point out that it's a common mistake people make in thinking that the famous Daigo vs Jwong match was finals.

Finals was Daigo vs KO.
