Do you play Stock in Brawl? If you do how many do you play with and why?


Me and my friends always play 10 stock. We like 10 because if you are to say, mess up or screw up, there is a lot of time to get back to where you were. You wouldn't believe how many times a player will be in last place but then starts to pick it up at the end of the match and is able to pull out a win. It makes the Game a lot more about indurance and playing Smart, but also with a little risk.


So How much stock do you use? How does it change the way you play?

Official play uses 3 stock, so I guarantee 99% of people here will say 3.

I play 4 stock because that's the official Melee ruling. It also means I get a good 3 stock fight before I swallowcide.

There's nothing wrong with Brawl (except that no gravity air stadium). There's just a lot of stuff right with Melee.

Varies, a lot. If I just want to have a fun, quick match, it'll be either 1 or 3 stock. If I want a decently long match, it is usually 10 or 15 stocks. If I am looking for a very long match, usually when I am bored I will put it at 25, 30, or 50. I don't think I've done more than 50 though. That took a long time to finish.

I'd get bored if the stock count was any higher than 3...

And I don't think I'd be able to stand a stock count any higher than 5.

Lol ten stock matches, now if only they camped throughout all of that...

2 stock match at 6mins for me. Yes it sucks when you SD first thing... I run ten stocks against computers while at 300 handicap from time to time, it's amazing when you have that one stock that KOs like 4 of their stocks after getting 1hko'd five times in a row >(

3 stocks, 8 minute timer, items set to high with only Team Healer on.

Except when we're playing Teams, we set it to off and none.

(Team Healer doesn't appear unless you're playing teams. So it's exactly the same as Off and None. D3 can't even pull it.)

When fighting the Computer Players on my own, I set stock to 7. 5 stock was a habit I had when I played Melee, but I realized that games in Brawl didn't last nearly as long as they did in Melee for me. So, I kicked it up two notches.

..Of course, I set it to three when playing on Wi-fi.

But yeah, I normally do 3-5 stock battles, sometimes I do 10 stock battles but that's uncommon.

meh 5 stocks is perfect to me. 3 feels to short and anything over 10 is just too much for my patience to deal with

I did 99 stock Melee yesterday. I don't like fighting the same character for that long.
I stuck with it till the end though, just so I could say I 44 stocked Link.
