- about friday at duquesne, for me now its up in the air rather than a "no go"

I want to expect better of you, but I know not to
should we be talking about just 1 smash crew from pittsburgh or multiples? I mean, we have a very large group of people who are pretty good at smash or at least interested in getting good at smash and with one crew, we're talking about making cuts and **** when going to smashfests and whatnot, and that seems kinda ****ty. Then again, staying unified and whatnot has it's perks too, but I think we should figure out if 1 crew is the way to go or not.

its whatever to me. we only have about a year left of competitve play in this game(given that SSBB wont be s**t), but Im willing to travel etc. and ride out this last year of competitive SSBM play. on that note I hope that SSBB isnt s**t and that our base of players will be along for the ride and an early start

the problem with multiple crews here is that then the best players would be broken into 2 groups (in order to preserve balance in weekly crew battles), and that would result in generally weaker crews. Now I'm perfectly OK with this, but does anyone really want to assemble a Pittsburgh all stars sort of crew to disproove these rumors that Pittsburgh "sucks at smash"? I mean, maybe we have 2 crews for local crew battles, then hold tournies before traveling to determine top players to represent Pittsburgh there? But then we have hurt feelings issues and team chemistry issues and stuff like that, so there are lots of cons to this idea. I guess what I'm really trying to get at is that I think 2 crews is the way to go, but if anyone has really big Pittsburgh pride, we might want to consider stacking our deck for far tournies.

Two crews would be great for practice, but you have to stack a team if you plan on traveling... period. There's no sense traveling 2 hours to lose when you have a chance to win. I know I am not skilled enough yet to be on the "A-team," but I don't really care about where I stand. However, I do care about Pittsburgh performing well in the smash community. It made me sick to see Velocity take the title at the tournament (nothing personally against Velocity... just the simple fact that he was an "outsider"). With that said, I want the best we have to represent the 412 at real crew battles.

I'm up for stacking the deck. Personaly i hate arrogent people, and i really want to show philly and other *******s that we are a force to be reconed with.

Velocity won the CyberCon tournament because it is poorly run and really sucks at putting that **** together. In a real tournament we would have done so much better and i would have been justin or Wes in the finals instead of whats his name.

i think you guys may overestimate the importance of being in a single crew... just because you don't reallly belong to a specific crew doesn't mean you can't play with them in crew battles with little or no problems (simply because crew battles don't really require teamwork anything; just matchup awareness and i think everyone knows who they are good against and bad against)

i say having multiple crews here and maybe running weekly battles or whatever is great, and if/when we travel, we could always just run a temporary crew with whoever ends up making the trip

i dunno, it's just that the stupid draft thing is starting to wear on me with how hard it is to get running (plus you guys are *******s to the lesser players like that mario guy from friday x.x)

So ultimately one large Pittsburgh crew, that is divided into two local crews, but in crew battles with other places, we assemble the "A-team"? is that what everyone is hinting?

I guess the "A-team" can be decided when the two local crews battle, and see who has better players etc.?

how often will battles with other places happen? probably not often enough to put a lot of thought into this... and when they do, why can't it be a 10v10 battle x.x, if we're going by regions, i'm sure they'd have a lot of people that would like to play too

fair enough, but general consensus seems to be that we should stick as one crew to the outside world and only split for practice crew battles. Seems fair. Let's make use of the thread sweettooth has put together for the resurrection of SCS. If we want to change name, not a problem, but we should post there to get an official list of who's in.

I think that we shoul have two crews. They dont really have to be an A- team and B- team, but having two will provoke more competativeness, and also increase our skill faster. Think about it this way: we will have experience having crew battles, and be able to prepare better for tourneys like sitc2. As tournaments roll close, we will get the best players in both crews and play in the tournament together as 1 crew. the rest of the people could still go as another branch of SCS. If you guys like this idea, then we'll stick with it. If not you can give me any suggestions that you have for bettering the crew.

Also, if we happen to have the two branches of the crew at the tourney, The best players will go under the name SCS-evolution, and the other branch will be SCS.

However, I still plan on having a fairly small crew. I dont see the need for more than 8-10 people, because then, who will we play against when we all get together(other than singles and doubles)

and speaking of doubles... I need a new partner, because Burgh hasn't been around lately.

well it was probly the most convenient place to go for alot of us and we apparently didnt mind throwing away a few dollars, and i do regret going to some but I wouldve never met some of the ppl i know. it served its purpose(perhaps a bit too long), but the other threads started by active SCS members suggest that we wont be attending anymore.

My classes are over on Tuesday afternoon. I'm going home Wednesday.

Anyone down to smash at my place on Tuesday, after 3PM?
Sweetooth, I have yet to play you. I only know of one other person who mains Samus, let's see if you're any where as good/bad as he is. And Iceburgh, I've never played someone who mains Link either... lol. $1 MM either of you?

I don't have a gamecube though, but I've got a large room with sofas, a decently-sized flat-screen, and parking space for 1 vehicle. I don't care if I have 1 person over or 3, I just feel the need 2 smash after classes are over.

i'm free after 3 on tuesday too

i got 2 TVs (32 and 20) and a cube, so if enough people want to roll over to webster (5th @ dithridge) then, i'd be open to having people over

if no one's interested (short notice, small apartment, whatever), i'd probably be up for smashing wherever pending the weather (i don't leave til wednesday so i'm free from tuesday afternoon)

and yeah, my # is 973-214-3905, so gimme a call if you're interested and/or are having smash somewhere on shorter notice else and i can come
