Star Wars: Battlefront III

Who doesn't know the Battlefront series? It's possibly the best Star Wars video game series of all time, and the third core installment, despite Free Radical Design's fall, is still supposedly in the works under Rebellion Developments (who developed Star Wars Battlefront: Renegade Squadron).

Let's cut the chatter and get to the meat. This is pure speculation, but it seems as if this game will take place in an alternate universe, where the entire story is bent so that roles of characters are very different. For instance, Dark Obi-Wan is said to be a playable character, as well as a combatant Jar Jar Binks and a Palpatine still in-tact, and presumably still Chancellor (and in this case, aligned good, with Obi-Wan opposing him). Blegh, I'll post the so-far confirmed [yet subject to change] list:

Holy crap, I was starting to think I was never going to see the series continue. I'm so glad this has finally been announced. And Dark Obi-Wan's concept art looks AMAZING.

Now I just have to decide on which platform to get this. 360's the likely candidate but I'll have to keep an eye on all of the version's...and see if the Wii/DS versions are somehow going to be worth it.

It's about time! I loved the previous Battle Front Games. The game looks great, Dark Obi-Wan looks fighting evil. The graphics are stunning, and the playable roster of Jedi and Sith is great. I can't wait for this one to come out! Just so long as there's a PS3 version, that is.

Remember, it's all subject to change, so we may see some characters dropped or added. No one knows at this point. However, the fact that they seem to be bending the canonical story so as to make an even more emmersive and unique Star Wars experience is beyond awesome.

Also, a PS3 version has been confirmed, along with 360, Wii, PS2, and DS versions also. The Battlefront games have probably given me more enjoyment than any others of their type. Watching the trailer gave me chills because of how incredible it looks. I've been a diehard Star Wars fan all of my life, so great games in the franchise are a mega bonus for me. I'm going to go watch the trailer again.

I'm going to buy this on either the Wii or the PlayStation 2. The Wii for the obvious reason that it's the only next-generation console that I own, the PlayStation 2 because it's the console the series was meant to be played on.

Odds are, the Wii version will be a port of the PS2 with additional Wii controls/features, just as The Force Unleashed was.

Man, because of this, I've been playing so much BFI & II. One of the best series of all time, and completely fitting for the Star Wars universe.

If you put the Vong in there it could be the best Anti-Jedi. Maybe they should put the Fel Empire as a fraction.

At least Battlefront III isn't just a revamp of BFII, as it was more or an expansion of BFI.

Who knows how it'll turn out in the end though? I would love to see a Battlefront game that covers five eras:
- The Great Sith War
- Clone Wars
- Galactic Civil War
- Yuuzhan Vong Invasion
- Something from the Legacy Era
