I keep forgetting there are other places in Smashboards besides the newcomer speculation area.

Now I've found a place where I get to pour my heart out on the stage selection. Omg I love the selection. I can look at it for a long time. There is so much variety. Cute stages like the Kirby and Yoshi stages and dark stages like Luigi's Mansion and Dracula's Castle. You got stages where you fight on a train, on top of boats, a rock that rotates, spaceships, and platforms that take you to different locations. What I love is that every series represented via a fighter gets it's own stage (aside from ROB, poor fellow).

Some of my favorites stages are:
  • Saffron City: My favorite stage from the N64 game. It reminds me of the early seasons of the anime which brings back memories and I like the gimmick of random Pokemon coming out of the door.
  • N64 Peach's Castle: A chaotic stage that makes for many hilarious moments. The number of times me and my friends played 4 player Donkey Kong on this stage and bouncing each other off the walls was quite something to experience.
  • Temple: Do I need to explain? Plenty of variety for chaos and the lower section allows you to live for long periods of time.
  • Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2: Love the variety of the gimmicks.
  • Shadow Moses Island: I'm a big MGS fan so this is self-explanatory.
  • Luigi's Mansion: Love the atmosphere of this one and I'm glad the game got represented through a stage.
  • Hanenbow: Yes I'm serious. The aesthetic of this stage is unlike any other and It's such a out-of-left-field pick of a stage that I just gotta like it. Plus I actually do not have too much trouble fighting on it.
  • Big Blue: I really like the hectic and unpredictable nature of the stage.
  • Wrecking Crew: Again, the chaotic and ever-changing nature of this stage makes it a blast to play on.
  • Pilotwings and Wuhu Island: I put these two together because they give off that relaxing summer vibe and Wuhu Island brings back memories of the Wii Sports days.
  • Super Mario Maker: Infinite possibilities. It's like an unlimited amount of stages in one. You never know what you will get which is great.
  • Dracula's Castle: My number one favorite stage in Smash history. I'm a big Castlevania fan and this stage oozes atmosphere and that classic Castlevania vibe. The bats flying around, the clock tower in the background, the fact that the candles give items, and all the other details like the monster cameos makes this the definitive Castlevania stage. The music selection is great and has every song I wanted and more. I'm a big horror fan so this stage is right up my alley. I love everything about it, aside from the fact that the monsters don't actually attack you which is a bit of a letdown.
  • King of Fighters Stadium: Terry's challenger pack is my favorite one so far and this is one of the major reasons. First, a stadium as a stage is really dam cool and I love the gimmick of smashing the characters through the side walls. The sound and visual effects make KOing opponents super satisfying. As for the music, I still am not over the fact that we got 50 songs, and most of them are awesome. Around 30 tracks are in my favorites playlist.
My only complaint about the stage selection is the glaring omissions of Rainbow Road, Pac Maze, Poke Floats and Hungle Hijinx. Pac Maze in particular is a painful absence as now Pac Man is only represented in the stage department by Pac-Land, which is a frustrating stage to play on and doesn't represent what Pac Man is most known for.

But It's crazy to think that we are getting 6 more stages, which will bring the total stage amount to 114 which is nuts.

I have fun playing on "illegal but pretty good" stages if I'm just fighting CPUs. Stages like Mementos, Midgar, Mushroom Kingdom U. It's fun and offers more variety. I recently added Peach's Castle 64 into the fold and I'm enjoying it thus far. I understand why they're not legal for tournaments, but obviously practing against CPUs isn't the most serious thing in the world anyway, lol. And if I ever do have another tournament with my friends, I can just swap back to a legal-stages ruleset

I love playing on most of the stages in ultimate, but I kinda wish there had been more new stages instead of bringing back most of them, I doubt many would mind if Windy Hill and Balloon Fight had been swapped for Chemical Plant & Bowser's Castle, or if Great Cave Offensive had been swapped for a Rob stage

some of the cuts are odd too, like Rainbow Road was cut in favour of 2 Mario Circuits, and Pac-Maze was cut for Pac-Land

but even still, the stage lineup is amazing

Yeah i think a solling Stage stopper would have been amazing
for example we would get 2 Bowsers Castle Stages, Dededes Ring, Bubbly clouds or a vulcano i wish this option wasnt limited to spirit battles
