Okay, I just had an idea. What if you could control who could make it into smash, but in order to add a new character, you had to remove an existing one? You could also only replace echoes with echoes.

Game 4: and are final smashes instead of separate fighters(they will be playable in Ultimate however). replaced by (Pokémon Trainer will be back for ultimate). Jody Summer returns for DLC. Shadow and Midna joins the battle. 2 Miis are placed by Fawful and Adeleine. replaced by Krystal.

Ultimate: and Muddy Mole are back plus and are playable again. replaced by Dixie Kong

I just went through and deleted every character I find historically and culturally insignificant (though I left a few for the overall balance of the game and fans of other series... I tried to think of overall perception of Smash moreso than just my opinion alone. This list includes, and even a favorite of mine, ). Overall this worked out pretty well for me, as I didnt need to think for long about the replacements- though I'm sure if I did think a bit more about it, I would choose a few more characters to be included over some of the ones we did in fact receive.

Tbh, I like the roster overall, and since the premise of Ultimate was no cuts, everyone stays in terms of veterans. In terms of newcomers, I’ll just replace Ken with Alph (he was the only unlucky alt in the For games, and this replacement makes the most sense in terms of development time) and then lets just say Sephiroth for Tidus (I like playing as Sephiroth, but I don’t think Square would’ve given me two FF DLC characters).
