As you might be aware, Smashboards has recently been bought back from MLG (see: http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?t=330262). The Senate is currently cleaning up the boards to make things less cluttered, mostly through merging and archiving rooms. Those who have access to the 64 Back Room might have noticed that it's read-only now, in approximately three days it will be archived (if you have any posts you want to save, you have until then). This decision was made because the room hasn't been active for about six months now and it's ultimately not what the 64 scene seems to need.

We currently don't have any other major changes regarding SSB64 planned. Is there anything in particular you guys want to see or comment on? We want to continue to do our best to ensure that all smash games have a place on here.

It's been raised before but having the Smash 64 Online Events so far away is a bit of a bummer. It'd be better off as a sub-form to the Smash 64 Discussion, seeing as we here are basically the only one who will use that forum anyway.

Other than that, as long as this forum doesn't get jewed over and sent back to "Other Games" or whatever I reckon we're fine - but it's not up to me alone to say.

64 is always treated like Brawl and Melee's ugly older sister. The one who at this point is begging for it, but is just so old and stigmatized that no one wants her.

In the eyes of Smashboards, we are kinda just the wierdos that are "into that stuff".

shut up yobo

things are fine, getting rid of the backroom is a good idea

would be cool to have "brawl" "melee" "64" sections, but if melee doesn't mind being with us I'm cool with being with them. The two cool kid games.

Un-merge the Melee and 64 sections and move 64 Online Events back to being a subforum here (so we can easily see when a new post is made, instead of having to manually check)

Can I keep my purple name? :awesome: If not I'll have to switch to pink

Oh and I posted in the Backroom just this morning, dunno what you're talking about with the 6 months thing :troll: got it in just time. I bet Marc was just waiting for someone to post that essential thread before archiving the forum :troll:

I would agree with un-merging the 64 and melee.

64 is a smash game..this is smashboards. There are only 3, going on 4 smash games total lol.

It deserves it's own dedicated section like before, who cares if the activity isn't as much as with melee or brawl.

Same goes for Melee. They would agree. Each game should have its own section.

It just feels like MLG lumped the "not Brawl" games together.

Can we make the backroom's old posts visible to everyone? There is some good knowledge in there that people might want to read.

I'm just sad that we didn't even get a chance to discuss that vital Backroom issue. But I guess I should be grateful I at least got that thread in just in time.
probably the best thread in the backroom. at least we went out on a high note.

The AIB ladder is still superior to any ladder we've ever produced.

The backroom was major fail though.

The problem with opening up the 64BR to everyone is that posts back there were made under the assumption that it was a private room. Right now it looks like people who originally had access will keep this once it's archived and I suppose that at some point opening it up entirely is not out of the question. It's also pretty certain that online discussion will be moved back over, but the server migration is taking up most of the attention right now.

lol I know it's taking forever but the revamped SSBPD is still under development and it will have support for multiple games, meaning SSB64 console and online can be included.

Honestly, there's nothing for you guys to see in the BR. You aren't missing out on anything at all.

Agreed! Well said.

does this mean i lose the purple name?
Dont sweat it. Its not like you ever deserved it anyway ;)

Good suggestion. 80 percent of 64 discussion is in the social thread. And the social thread is 100 percent random stuff. So I would really apriciate high level smash debates to look at =) (or laugh at if its terrible)

Honestly, there's nothing for you guys to see in the BR. You aren't missing out on anything at all.
I find that hard to believe. You must have at least tried to make some serious discussion. At least at the begging of the backroom. There are like half of the memebers that are clowns. But theres members like firo and such, which I allways though of as informativ and nontrolling dudes.

So yeah, no need to exclude a major part of a small community, by not showing (some) informativ discussion.

I detached the SSB64 section from Melee and modeled it after that section. What goes on the frontpage is pretty much determined by activity (or will be in the future), so hopefully character discussion and videos will continue to warrant their spot. I also moved online events back in with SSB64 discussion. I think I've addressed most major gripes so far, anything else you want me to look into? For the future also, just consider me the go-to person for this sort of thing.

Could it be shortcuts to videos and caracther in The main 64 section? Like in The same place you put online events. :)

That's the way it used to be, but why is that preferable? Not saying it can't be done, but please explain.

lazyness I guess. Many people have the 64 main section up. And then its easy to just switch back and forth with the sub-forums if its a shortcut on the top. But its not a big problem. Just preferable.

Thanks anyway for our own section. =)

It's just nice to have it on one page so you can see if there is a new post at a glance instead of going to the homepage.
