Unless you've ever played competitive ssb64, you have no idea what ssb64 DI is. Most smashers don't even realize ssb64 had DI. Well ssb64 DI is back in brawl and incredibly useful. What is ssb64 DI?
SSB64 DI was very frame specific unlike melee. For each hit you only had a couple frames to input DI where in melee you could just hold the stick after you were hit. But, unlike in melee, every hit of a multi-hit move can potentially be DI'ed. Thus making single hit moves very difficult to DI but multiple hit moves such as drills far easier to DI out of.
Much like in ssb64, you can DI every hit of multiple hit moves in brawl. Also like ssb64 each hit seems to have frame specific DI input. The result:
- The ability to DI out of the tornado with 100% accuracy
- You can DI completely behind G&W he when hits you with his backair
- DI'ing out of Pikachu's downsmash
- DI'ing out of countless other multi-hit moves
How is it done?
Since you want to DI as many hits as possible you basically slam the joystick in a certain direction as fast and as many times as possible during the period you're being hit. The hardest part is getting in the routine of doing it for multi-hit moves.
If I had a way of recording I'd post videos but for now I can't so I guess if you have any questions just post them.
