I belive it is a tease for e3 reveal. though wouldn't be surpsing if he was just a stage hazard after all.

I can totally see some PoDs over the next week or two being clarifications from the Direct (Smash run, GSP, moveset customizing), with one of them being a picture of characters battling Ridley on Pyrosphere (thus deconfirming him).

Sakurai himself said that the development team added "18 characters" to Brawl. This counts Squirtle, Ivysaur, and Charizard as separate characters. I'd consider word from the man himself pretty definitive.

Well its back to this thread being my main.

Hey guys i know its ridiculous i havent been here since March 27th lol...but has anything really crazy/worthy happened recently in terms of leaks.

I say that because i honestly dont expect you lot to fill me in on everything since but plz the majors if anything would be greatly appreciated.

The Ridley thread is divided and its in a mess...

I always see this thread as a peep into the future.

That's what I'm expecting at this point. Between now and E3 would be the proper time to put the final nail in the coffin. I wish that was done already and Sakurai just outright said Ridley wasn't playable like he did with Waluigi and Ashley. But nooooooooooo!

Only the new Gematsu leak really seems to have even a degree of credibility.

We can probably expect some more serious leaks in the near future. The E3 leak has been pretty much the only credible one for almost a year.

Shhh... But if you really want a rationale, it relates to the Mario Kart 8 rumor and how it talks about 48 characters and four cuts.

That's all good and well, but I was referring to how they design the games. Yes, they may have included six Pokémon characters and five Zelda characters, but they cheated to make it look like they had actually included only four for each. I'm sure that a big reason for doing this is so that it doesn't appear as if Mario is being overshadowed in representation, seeing as Nintendo's flagship series had only four. Looking at the Forbidden Seven also backs up this theory, as very few people actually cared if Dr. Mario came back, but if Zelda and Pokémon had gotten one more separate character that would have made Mario appear less represented than the others, thus necessitating including Dr. Mario for the sake of keeping each series tied for most roster slots, with five. In interviews it isn't as important that this illusion be maintained, so he is free to count the combined characters separately, but there is no way they would ever make a roster which clearly shows Mario as having less characters than other Nintendo franchises. Now that there are no shared slots, Zelda and Mario will undoubtedly have five characters each, and the past indicates that the cap for any franchise will accordingly be five. This has been the development teams' self-imposed rule since the first game, so no matter what the fans think of it they are almost certain to stick to it.

As for Ridley, better hope he's talking about Meta Ridley when he says there will be other boss stages and it shows PYROSPHERE in full view for a few seconds. There's still that sliver of hope, and seeing his infinite fans the community will probably hold on to it.

The same person also mentioned that master ball is an item and legendary's come out. The only thing is though that he is wrong, he showed a list of characters in the game, but greninja wasn't in. We can still assume that sakurai will be sneaky and reveal ridley at e3.

Well…I’ve been lurking long enough so I’ll throw in my 2 cents and I know some people may not agree or dislike what I to say but I have to think with my mind rather than my heart when it comes to this.

I have looked at Sal leakers claims and due to the fact that he never mentioned Rosalina & Luma, this leads mean to only one of two things:
1. He got REALLY lucky…or
2. He doesn’t know about all the newcomers

Personally, I’m leaning towards #2. Now I believe he said there are 4 cuts from the Brawl roster and I’ve noticed that a lot of you are considering “Ivysaur” and “Squirtle” as 2 but I view them as 1 under the umbrella of “Pokemon Trainer” so that would leave 3 more cuts. So now we all need to be honest with ourselves and use some logic for who “should” be cut. The only characters that really fit that are “clones” and characters who could be replaced by another from their respected franchises which gives us:
· Lucas
· Falco
· Wolf
· Ganondorf
· Ike
· Snake (who could be replaced by Pacman)

Does Earthbound/Mother deserve 2 reps? NO. Does StarFox deserve 3 reps? NO. Does Fire Emblem deserve 3 rep? I can say YES, however with Brawl introducing more clone characters it seemed rather silly to replace Roy with Ike instead of just making it 3 FE reps which is why I think Ike MIGHT be cut to add Chrom (though I want Tiki or Tharja but that is a different discussion).

Now yes Toon Link is in the game as a “clone” but that’s out of respect for Wind Waker being so popular. The other clones, except for Ganondorf, don’t have relevancy to stand on. Now they could get greatly altered movesets. I haven’t played a lot of Earthbound so I can’t think of anything for Lucas. Falco being an anthropomorphic bird opens the door for other possible moves to differentiate him from Fox but with wolves and foxes being very similar animals, making a new moveset for Wolf would be a bit tougher…OR…could both Falco and Wolf get cut to add Krystal who would easily have a different moveset from Fox based off of StarFox Adventures?

So I would have to think that the 4 cuts are: Pokemon Trainer (Ivysaur & Squirtle), Lucas, Wolf and Snake (it pains me to see Snake go).

Also, I highly doubt Pokemon will have 6 reps! And yeah I know some people are gonna say, “but Brawl had 6 dude, Pikachu, Lucario, Jigglypuff, Charizard, Ivysaur and Squirtle!” Yeah you’re right however 3 of those 6 were all contained in ONE slot! No more transforming characters! · Krystal (I already mentioned)
· Issac (Heavily requested and not appearing with the other Assist Trophies)
· Lip (One of Sakurai’s favorite games)
· Takamaru (Heavily requested in Japan)

that said, good analysis but I think that ivysaur and squirtle DO count for 2 cuts as sheik and ZSS now count as separate characters. But like I said the 4 cuts aren't "true" apparently soooo we are in the dark and ivysaur/squirtle counting as 1 or 2 cuts doesnt really matter...if the mario kart 8 leakers info is indeed untrue of course.

I still think that 48 characters is around what we'll get and I still think at least snake will be cut so we'll see what happens.

Well, Ridley is pretty much dead in the water in my opinion at the moment, and Mewtwo is a veteran, not a newcomer.

pokemon HAD 6 reps in brawl..its not unlikely both jigs and mewtwo return and it keeps this number...imo anyway.
