I do see where you are coming from. And all of your logic is sound. I made my points earlier so I won't say anything else about the retroness/revival stuff. As for the stage goes, it may just be a fun little appearance to have, and as others have discussed it could be almost like a Final Destination type stage. It also reminds me of the first level in Subspace, Mario vs Kirby. The battle is on a stage where we can see the crowd that actually cheers for the fighters. I know that it spells Punch Out. But I still don't buy it.

Edit: Oh, and for the part about the no fighters in a fighting game thing: The only reason why I use this point, is because SSB doesn't want to be like your typical fighting game, that's why we haven't seen characters like that before. That's what I think anyway. What do I know?

First of all: If you haven't played a Punch-Out game, don't talk about the style of game it is. It's much more of a strategy game than just a "fighting" game, and its an extremely unorthodox fighting game if it is one.

Second of all, some Retro series didn't get picked for some games. That's just how it was. Punch-Out isn't Retro anymore, and has more of a spotlight once again. Series getting new games is sometimes reasoning to include characters from them.

For instance, when asked about Takamaru, Sakurai once said something akin to"he'd think about it if he had another game."

Also, Little Mac is extremely popular, and has the potential to bring alot of charm (especially if Doc Louis is involved), and uniqueness with possibly a counter/star power based moveset.

Sorry, but your reasoning were a bit askew and it set off my rant-o-meter.

Edit: My god. When/if that stage is revealed to be a Punch-Out! Stage, probably called Smash Curcuit, there's going to be lots of face rubbing. God damn.

Little Mac won't be in because he's too small (or should I say little?).

We need Big Mac instead.

A few deductions regarding the Palutena leak.
If it is legit, it begs the question "why Palutena, specifically?", to which there are only a couple of answers:
  • Leaker was only able to see Palutena (incomplete tester version, etc.)
  • Images were leaked by Nintendo as part of a viral marketing campaign (unlikely)
  • There are no more newcomers
If it's a fake, it begs the same question; "why Palutena?". If you have the skills to craft such a convincing fake, why would you choose Palutena instead of a character that would really shake people up like Ridley or a crazy third-party character like Pac-Man or Bayonetta?

That's probably why it's real - it's unconventional, buzz-wise, and it's a safer 1st party character Nintendo has already finished.

We did! Remember? On page 123? There was that flame war between PsyGuy89 and Morbidalturism over waffles.
I just ate a waffle, but why you be making **** up, bruh?

Little Mac could still be considered a retro-character, by definition. The most accurate term would be, "a retro-character with a recent revival" as that is literally what he is. One does not simply lose retro status after making an appearance some years later. That retro status never truly leaves, they just gain another status, their revival, which under some circumstances is still considered a retro.

I don't know. I agree that, if fake, it's very well done, but yeah, why Palutena of all characters?

This is one of the reasons this may be legit. No one could debunk this as easily as other fake pictures. Nothing (or at least, almost nothing) points towards being fake.

Only time will tell, though...

Your last conclusion is a bit extreme. The question "why Palutena?" is a good one, but I think the possible conclusions are as follows:
  • Palutena was the most hype character the leaker had access to (incomplete tester version, etc.)
  • Images were leaked by Nintendo as part of a viral marketing campaign (unlikely)
  • The leaker for some reason thought Pauletena would create the most hype of the remaining new comers
  • Palutena is the most hype inducing of the remaining new commers.
Who knows? Maybe the remaining unrevealed characters consist of ChainChomp and ShyGuy or something. Besides which It's not like Palutena doesn't have a considerable amount of demand. Not as much as Ridley obviously, but still a considerable amount. As was evidenced by the hype it did create.

Hmmm. That's true. Another piece of evidence. If this is fake, they most likely wouldn't have chosen Lady Palutena. I would bet my money on Ridley being fake leaked, but not really Lady Palutena. *shrugs* I dunno.

If it's a fake, then going for Pac-Man/Bayonetta/whatever would increase the viewer hostileness. The fact that Palutena is a character that is relatively plausible to appear makes it easier for us to believe the fake. There are also other reasons possible, for example forger could be good at modelling in KI:U-like style. Also, there are hundreds of possible Pac-Man designs, and Bayonetta would probably be given a more family-friendly outfit; meanwhile, Palutena, if she appears, will probably fit something between already similar KI:U and SSBB styles, given that Pit already does.

If it's legit, then there are quite a few other reasons that make sense, including, but not limited to, leaker not wanting to leave too much of evidence. Suppose you want to photograph a 3DS while you are in a place with other people and regulation forbidding photographing anything. You would take a photo of anything you could. Also, in case that leaker gets busted, revealing first-party character is way less of a problem than revealing a third-party one.
