Nintendo:
*adds Ridley to Smash, a character who has been desired for 17 years but seen as a joke due to statements from the creator himself
*adds K. Rool to Smash, a character that's been desired for about as long but hadn't even been seen in a decade, nearing the peak of irrelevancy
*brings back every single character, even managing to work with both Square AND Konami, even getting a whole second franchise out of Konami
*creates what's arguably the best Smash yet for the best-selling console of the generation
*creates the fastest-selling console game of all time in multiple countries and continents

Some fans:
I'm so sick of this "owing us nothing" ****, I really am. Nintendo isn't some humble indie dev pumping out free games on steam for us. They are a multi million dollar business. In order to be successful; they kinda have to cater to us, the customers. Not to sound ungrateful; but this is how it works.
You really are a piece of work. Nintendo, Sakurai, and the development team already did their job by piecing together this absolute masterwork of a fighting game, and for you to insist that their job isn't done and that they somehow aren't going to be successful just because some fans don't get the character they want is mind-boggling. Every single Smash game would fail at that rate. Ultimate would have already failed, given the notable ****storms thrown over Waluigi, Ashley, and Isaac. DLC will succeed with or without Geno. This game would have succeeded without Ridley or K. Rool. Get over yourself and stop acting like you, or the fanbase deserves anything.

Yes, listening to consumer feedback can be helpful in raising sales. But more goes on behind the scenes than just 'it makes people happy.' They are ultimately a company that do things that lead to making more money, and there are arguably MANY choices beyond Geno that would make them a boatload more money. The Smash fans want Geno? Okay, people who play Smash will get the Geno DLC, maybe a few SMRPG fans who didn;t already have Smash. SORA comes to play? You've got Smash fans getting DLC, as well as attracting the interest of the massive Kingdom Hearts fanbase. Erdrick drops by? Smash players will more than likely buy it, but at the same time, you have now attracted the community of the highest-selling franchise not already in Smash.

We are free to push for our characters, and voice why we feel they should make it in over other people's favorites. But we don't 'deserve' any of them. I don't 'deserve' Amaterasu just because I bought the game, and you don't 'deserve' Geno just because you bought the game. Tough luck, but that's how the cookie crumbles. We didn't 'deserve' Ultimate in the first place, it's already just such an inherent money-maker they'd have been foolish not to make it. We. Deserve. Nothing.

McDonald's doesn't owe us table's to eat on. We should be grateful that we can eat out Big Mac on the floor.
Dude, stop. Your reactions right now are like immature children's tantrums. Seriously, this just... makes me so embarrassed to be championing Geno as avidly as I am. If Geno doesn't get in, it's understandable why, even if it blows major chunks. Take it easy.

To be fair, Saks, who's a big Geno fan himself, might have pulled some strings to get that if not the character himself.
Nintendo have handled the catering in question exceedingly well for this latest Smash game.

And with extras like Joker and a plausible looking Phoenix Wright, etc. Well those are still just extras to the meal that us the base game.
I mean the Japanese translator straight-up says it means "why won't they put phoenix wright in..." so...[

Noooo not the "you should be grateful" vs "why should i be grateful" wars again

Let's talk about how Slime isn't even really part of the list or something

After 3 Million sold, I doubt they need to focus on catering to us anymore though. They could release a playable Like Like and the general audience would eat it up regardless. Smash is a console seller.
If nothing else, you'd see a lot of people talking about how Like Like was a "classic Sakurai pick" like they've got it all figured out.

Reducing Geno to a little fan request is incredibly disrespectful to the hundred's of thousand's of people who want him. If Nintendo want's to continue making money; they DO need to give what the fan's want as much as they can.
What about the Waluigi fans? Or the Shadow fans? Or the Isaac fans? Or the Skull Kid fans? Or the Ashley fans? Or the Rhythm Heaven fans? Or the Shovel Knight fans? Or the Shantae fans? Hundreds of thousands of people who want those characters. Though, being truthful, Geno only has tens of thousands, and that's a liberal estimate. If people are saying not to underestimate Geno's popularity, I can say not to overestimate Geno's popularity, which you're doing right now.

The nature of Smash Bros. makes it impossible to cater to the fans of every popular character. And at the end of the day that's all Geno is: a popular character.

As long as we're talking about gratefulness; Maybe Nintendo should be grateful for my 60 + dollars. *shrug*

Kirby Star Allies continued to give the fan's fanservice FOR FREE. What is Smash's excuse; when we actively have to pay for the DLC?

Waluigi fans don’t count because two guys were dumb, don’t you know?

No, actually she stated it as Shu Takumi supposedly saying while drinking "why Phoenix couldn't be in Smash". Either way, this is a good sign.

If Phoenix is in, it should likely mean that Takumi is under an NDA that allows for negation or denial, or he simply wouldn't know.

This is much better than a flat of negation. If anything, it's a hope shot. That, and it could be a slight mistranslation.

It's funny how you think that. I mean, Nintendo acknowledged Geno when they tweeted about #TeamMallow an #Team Geno in some SMRPG tweet back in may.

Because Kirby is is a first party game on the less costy side that does not have half a dozen third parties breathing down the games throat.

Different teams and approaches. Star Allies feels incomplete without DLC, Ultimate is complete without DLC.

There's a difference between characters already owned by Nintendo being given simple movesets and some levels compared to characters not owned by Nintendo being given fully functional movesets, music tracks from their series, and a location from their series being added. Don't compare apples to oranges.

Kirby Star Allies was rushed game, which feels incomplete without DLCs to make it complete.

on other hand, Ultimate is just complete game but it will have some extra DLC in here like, Joker from Persona 5.

just expect Geno Mii costume 2.0 again.

What do you think is more expensive: adding more Kirby characters to a Kirby game (that already noticeably underdelivered on base-game content), OR adding more third-party characters to a game that is already ridiculously packed with content and requires cooperation between not just multiple in-company properties, but now FIVE additional third-party companies, possibly more down the line?

And, again, your 60 dollars mean diddly-squat when the game has already sold 5,000,000+ copies. You have much less sway in this matter than you seem to think you do.

Not all games are made the same. Plus, we're talking a fighting game here, a genre where characters alone can be considered expensive by some (not to me, fortunately): Blazblue or Guilty Gear? Eight bucks per character. FighterZ? Five bucks. Street Fighter 5? Six bucks. Tekken 7? Eight. Injustice 2? Six, or ten if you want the Ninja Turtles.
I'm thankful we can even get more than just a character for what's about the average price of one.

Smash is Nintendo’s biggest DLC seller.

If you think that comparing it to a Kirby game for DLC is an adequate comparison, then I don’t know what to say.

Now if you REALLY want to complain about DLC practices, let me introduce you to EA and Activision.

EXACTLY. That too Luigi The President Luigi The President . This likely isn't even anything serious at that. When drunk, Takumi could say the darndest things. Lord knows, he and Kamiya were kind of frenemies back in the day anyway.
I mean, if he’s drunk, do you think it’s more likely that he’ll follow an NDA or lie about Phoenix, or that he’ll say what he’s thinking and be real?

Gotta love how Chun-Li just took off her costume and revealed herself to have been Ken all this time. Reminds me of old Scooby Doo episodes. And she would have gotten away if it wasn't for that damned dog and its duck!

Slime isn’t a part of the actual Seven Square list and I’m not just saying that because I don’t like them. I’m saying that off years of research.

Kirby is actually owned by Nintendo for starters and thimus, is less risky by nature, considering its responsibility is catering to an overall smaller crowd than Smash sales.

Erdrick is someone who constantly swings a sword and does whatever he wants and doesn’t care about anything.

I wonder why are Ken and Chun even put in a "this or that" situation when they have no similarities aside from the "shotoclone" stigma.

I mean I want the guy in the game but we're kinda making something out of nothing here
Hopefully he's in
Yeah, honestly there's not really much to that tweet anyway. Could just be wacky nonsense.
Would explain why it hasn't really popped up in any conversations on sites really.

Besides, we've got plenty of evidence in support of Phoenix. Enough not to lose our heads over this tweet anyway.
I mean, if he’s drunk, do you think it’s more likely that he’ll follow an NDA or lie about Phoenix, or that he’ll say what he’s thinking and be real?
Knowing Takumi, neither. He'd just spout stuff, truthful or untruthful. Guy's quirky that way.

You guys are both right though. We needn't worry ourselves over a harmless tweet that honestly doesn't even mention Smash.

Phoenix's chances are still as they were. Plausible.
