29 points.
29 points!
29 POINTS?!
29 FREAKING POINTS!?
29 ******* POINTS?!
It's especially sad because although their biases on Sonic infuriate me, I quite like that sub otherwise. There are a lot of people there who just like to *****, sure, but there are also a lot of kind people there who point out the invalidity of the complaints and the community mindset changes. It's just that at the moment, nobody is standing up for Sonic, and that's part of the reason I wanted to be the catalyst for positive change.

This is why I don't go to Reddit. However devoted we are in our cause, we can't change the opinions of bandwagon crybabies.

At this rate, Sonic's going to make Greninja's meme look like a joke.

I might join the subreddit to help shut down these hyper-biased scrublords. In the meantime, I will proceed to try to annoy the everliving s**t out of literally everyone I go against with Sonic, and feel no regrets, as I usually do.

No matter what they do, Sonic will always be annoying as hell to fight against, so haters are simply gonna hate.

I'd definitely try out Fire and Ice, but I bet it's gonna come out after I move to Wichita Falls for college in August.
Any Smashers, around the Wichita Falls, Tx area, still active? I'm active and extremely interested in tourneys and friendlies!

I've highly considered and mulled over the idea of being a martyr for the cause...

But I just really hate them as much as they hate Sonic, and I don't think I really want to deal with throwing myself into the eye of the storm.

Small minds stay small, especially on Reddit. The circle-jerking is a strong force there.

Usmash didn't need a >10% nerf though...

Now it doesn't kill uncharged without rage on most characters until 120%. It's also not safe on block/whiff, is escapable, has no set-ups...

Meanwhile you have Yoshi, Mario, Luigi, Fox, etc...

:093:
Wait, Sonic Usmash can still OK around 120%? Well that's fine then.

Well yeah, it's basically just a normal percent for a smash crippled by escapable hitboxes, bad endlag, and being unsafe on shield.

You're telling me? I always hated Sonic until he showed up in Brawl.

After all, had I not seen this Sonic related video on YouTube, I'd valve never been introduced to the Transformers.

And if you escape it, it won't even meteor like in brawl. However that is moot since that was a 0.0000000000001% chance of meteoring anyway.

Sonic's Usmash is pretty escapeable, specially a Dashing one which moves so much opponents might just pop out without even trying.

And this is coming from someone who also uses Zelda, so I know SDI is my sworn enemy, it was heavily toned down but still.

I Usmashed G&W with the base start-up at like 120% in training mode and after a couple hits he just popped out and stood next to me in neutral like nothing happened while Sonic continued doing his thing.

Hey there Sonic mains.

I'm having a tournament at the end of this month and I know that quite a few Sonic players here in Brazil are going there (whether they're good or not is another matter entirely but it never hurts to be ready) so I wanted to ask you guys for some input on how I should deal with this MU.

I know Greninja is not exactly a common sight (much less good ones) but even if you can't give MU specific advice just the general guidelines would be really nice to have because I really don't know how to deal with Spindash, the Spring, the typical Sonic shenanigans. I figured asking here would probably be the best place to get some advice

I would ask for some online practice but... yeah. Brazilian connection, not fun.

And reading back a bit (because I'm a very curious person) I saw all the Sonic hate and... Yeah, I really feel bad for you guys. If I had that kind of hate thrown at me that often I would probably lose a lot of my drive to keep playing. I don't have anything against Sonic as a character (I prefer Tails tho) and while I do groan every time I find myself having to play against one, the hate you guys get is just uncalled for (though I won't be a hypocrite here and admit that at some of my more frustrating experiences with the MU I kinda gave Sonic some heat myself) so I do respect how you guys stick with him no matter what.

Also,

At this rate, Sonic's going to make Greninja's meme look like a joke.
Implying Greninja's meme isn't a (bad) joke already...

Hmm, Sonic versus Greninja... pretty even, in my opinion. I've bodied Greninjas on FG, and likewise have been bodied by them.

One thing about Sonic that you can capitalize on is his dependency on spindashing everywhere. A quick water shuriken will shut down his spins and kill his momentum. His only other option is to jump over the shuriken, which, depending on how good Greninja's aerials are, might be something you can take advantage of.

But on the other hand, I've never tried it because of fear I might accidentally KO myself. I should try it in Training mode sometime.
Lose the fear because integrating the off stage Dair into your gameplay is a valuable weapon. It's actually very safe as I don't recall self-destructing even once doing it.

I think you'll also appreciate the satisfaction of gimping a recovery with such an aggressive Dair, with that pinch of disrespect, yet not :)

Especially with the IASA buff, it's really not common to SD from it...

I even use it as a recovery mix-up if I'm feeling it. Dair and then Spring to sweetspot really low to the ledge.

The only risk is that the move itself isn't all the safe in certain situations. Like, I've pretty much stopped trying to edgeguard Sheik with it because she can just Up-B and use invincibility to avoid it completely then explode on your face and kill you.

Also, I've tried the ledgesnap thing with D-Smash so many times without success and once I actually got it accidentally with the Dair. I wasn't close enough to the ledge and it hit the stage as he connected with the ledge. It was awesome.

Water Shuriken might stop the spin but we can't really capitalize on that because of the endlag, in fact, if Sonic is close enough then we're vulnerable.

Even with the buffed shuriken I don't think throwing shurikens at Spin Dash is wise.

No Smash character comes close to having as irrational, whiny and childish a hatebase as Sonic does.:p

Hey Syn, since when has Sonic been reliant on spin dash? :applejack:
It's the core component of his approaches and mind games, isn't it? Last I checked, you're not winning if you're not spinning to at least some degree.

Then again, this may just be me not picking up on internet sarcasm. =/
