Sonic boards are doing a matchup discussion on Metaknight!
http://www.smashboards.com/showthread.php?p=5815026

Hm... I'm pretty sure everyone has some kind of idea of what this matchup is like.
It's Metaknight vs Meatknight. Just how bad is this matchup in the light of the current metagame?

If you wish to contribute, please keep these in mind:
- Please, please have matchup experience with a competent Sonic main before talking about Sonic behaviors.
- If you don't have much matchup experience with a Sonic main, but you see an incorrect an incorrect assumption on Metaknight (especially concerning move usage), feel free to correct it.
- After meeting the first two criteria, try not to awaken the fanboys with flammable remarks, I will personally report both sides, because we've already had a matchup discussion fail to this.
- Information, especially on stage choice (advantages/disadvantages), would be well appreciated. :)

These are basically the blanks that we're planning to be able to fill in at the end of this discussion:
Commonly Used Moves:
How to Win:
Recommended Stages:
Matchup Summary:
Also, silly things to keep in mind, in case you get overwhelmed by Sonic vocab:
- Spinshot: a fast-moving (run speed) insta-doublejump done out of a side-B charge (grounded or aerial) or an aerial down-B charge.
- ASC: Aerial Spin Charge (Aerial down-B) - has properties of multiple hits based on velocity (11 damage max first hit, 7-10 damage on followup hits). Can be shield cancelled upon landing.
- Side-B: Side-B's grounded charge can be cancelled for feints. Upon release, it has invincibility frames, like Ike's Eruption Super Armor, but invincible.

If you have any other questions on Sonic's moveset or whatever, feel free to ask in either the matchup thread or here:

Feel free to use any 'new' information gathered in your own matchup discussions later on. It might be the only chance you'll ever get it.

Tenki, Sonic already loses out to Meta Knight, what is that last part? O.o

Also Meta Knight has no bad stages (I think).

Oh God, I can already see it coming...

Sonic is probably the only character that can punish a wiffed Meta Knight attack.

Of course, MetaKnight has a lot of speed and priority, and still counter's Sonic (as well as everything else lol).

Meta Knight is a fun character to play against as Sonic. There's just something about the challenge...

EDIT: Sorry, no actual knowledge to contribute.

The matchup discussion should be done in the thread linked to above.

omfg it's going so slow >_> <_<

This is almost as slow as the Luigi discussion.

I want MK mains in there nao.

cause the sonic mains are scared of the freaking M*gik*rps.

I think we have it pretty much covered for MK... though I must admit we really could've used more Weegees when the time called for it.

I bet if we say right in their face that Sonic has a 60:40 advantage over Weegee, they'll come. Any falacies are gonig to piss off people and make them come.

WHY DOES NOONE PAY ATTENTION TO WEEGEE?!?!

Which is why we tell the Meta Knight mainers about the 90-10 advantage Sonic has against Meta Knight.

I would post in your matchup thread but that would require me to go to the Sonic boards, and I'm not ready for that kind of mental trauma.

You post in the MK threads and aren't traumatized yet. I doubt Sonic could even pharse you
That's different. MK threads are annoying and dumb, which I've grown used to seeing in internet forums over the years. Sonic threads are just...weird...

Didn't think of that.

Ah, touche. :)

But seriously, I really don't post much in the MK forums because it's so bad here. I'm technically only a MK sub (King Dedede main - Hail to the King, represent, etc.) so I really don't even need to spend much time here anyway.

And I only have Metacaballero as my avvy because I find the image humorous.

I'm feeling both bored and strangely masochistic. Any Meta Knights want a match?

I'm not the best representation of Sonic's potential, but WTF.

Unless something like Corneria or Green Greens is unbanned, Yoshi's Island (Melee) is MK's worst stage. I'll probably take you to Rainbow Cruise. Other appealing stages are Lylat Cruise, Luigi's Mansion, Jungle Japes, Delfino, and Skyworld... Rainbow Cruise usually results in me needing to exert the least effort against Sonic. I use pretty much all of MK's moves--except the ones we "never" use--against Sonic, except I find the Nair and and dash approaches less useful in this matchup. If I'm being approached I like to use Ftilt to intercept you, but I usually approach with aerials. I find myself doing Shuttle Loops from the floor to hit you more than in other matches.

It helps to pretend your moves don't exist and just attack you anyway since I out-range you so grossly.
