Long ago the Diamond Authority sent some beam down on Earth, and almost every gem got hit, turning them into these monsters...some of them were Crystal Gems, just like Pearl, Garnet, Amethyst...and my mom. So we don't try to hurt them. We just...keep them in magic bubbles. That keeps them from reforming and hurting anyone...

Peridot: Captured or shattered, either way, we've never seen someone imprisoning corrupted gems before...There's even more of them in more cages over there! Who would do this?
