...You may have taken a huge risk, but it was one that may have very well been necessary to save the people of Mewni and very likely the whole multiverse itself. All magic was at stake, and in-turn, so was all life dependent on magic and several means of interdimensional travel.

By utilizing the box, regardless of any consequences that came from powering it up on Mewni, you ensured that Star had a fighting chance and that this "Toffee"' would ultimately fail to destroy magic. Regardless of whether or not luck had a hand in it, I believe you made the right call.
