-The marines continue searching for evidence, survivors, or signs of the aliens, and soon see a lone signal on the radar, calling back to the scene from the first movie when the crew of the Nostromo saw a second signal pursuing Captain Dallas in the vents just before the alien ambushed him, so the marines are quick to arm themselves and pursue it...-

-...But upon investigating the vents, the marines find not an alien hiding there, but a young human girl. A lone, young survivor with visible trauma and confusion in her expression-

-The marines attempt to do so, but the child seems averse to them and tries to avoid them, and even bites Hicks' hand when he tries to reach out to help her before crawling further into the vents-

-Ripley, having crawled through vents and virtually all of the Nostromo before in the last movie, doesn't hesitate to follow her in there and try to help her instead. When she does, she finds that the girl has been hiding in a room largely cut off from the rest of the building, with a small bed, a doll, some snack bags, and...tons of various items littered across the floor like a hoarder's house, all of which clearly belonged to people who formerly lived here before the aliens showed up. It's quickly made clear as the girl nervously runs to the corner of the room that she's been desperately scavenging for any supplies she could find while hiding here-

-it's not fully understood why, but something about Rose Quartz being a Gem means she couldn't give birth to Steven without sacrificing her own life to let him inherit her gemstone and powers...-

The thing about Sothis is that you actually have to look out of the beaten path for what little of her backstory there is and piece things together (mainly because her backstory actually doesn't matter much in the narrative), with some stuff even being exclusive to the DLC. And then there were still unanswered questions and Three Hopes tackles maybe one or two of them. What truly matters about Sothis is her status as a Goddess, everything else is a bonus.

-The kid eventually calms down about a minuter later as Ripley cradles her and reassures her that she's alright. It's clear that, whatever exactly happened at this colony that led to the disappearances or deaths of everyone else, it was horrifically traumatic for her to witness-

The thing about Sothis is that you actually have to look out of the beaten path for what little of her backstory there is and piece things together (mainly because her backstory actually doesn't matter much in the narrative), with some stuff even being exclusive to the DLC. And then there were still unanswered questions and Three Hopes tackles maybe one or two of them. What truly matters about Sothis is her status as a Goddess, everything else is a bonus.

-While Hicks seemed particularly worried about the kid, Burke's methods of asking her blunt questions only fail, so Ripley tells them they've tried and that their methods aren't working, so she tries to take a more gentle approach by simply talking to Rebecca like an adult while wiping her face clean. She even tries to lighten the mood by lightly joking that it's a hard to believe there's a little girl underneath all the dirt on her face and that she doesn't seem to talk-

-After this as well as asking her a few questions on her own, Rebecca first answers that her name is actually "Newt". It seems to be more of a nickname, as she then notes that only her brother calls her Rebecca-
