No, because that actually sounds interesting and terrifying. This twist came out of nowhere and was admonished by fans for at least one out of two reasons: One being that people thought Discord's plan was stupid or careless, regardless of his intentions to either redeem the villains or make Twilight stronger, and the other being that people wanted the real Grogar back as the actual main antagonist, and the fact that he was revealed not only as fake, but also as a fan favorite character having faked his identity all for the sake of a plot twist, left a bad taste in almost everyone's mouth. I'm not sure how I feel about Discord's plan, so I'm more in the latter camp.

No, because that actually sounds interesting and terrifying. This twist came out of nowhere and was admonished by fans for at least one out of two reasons: One being that people thought Discord's plan was stupid or careless, regardless of his intentions to either redeem the villains or make Twilight stronger, and the other being that people wanted the real Grogar back as the actual main antagonist, and the fact that he was revealed not only as fake, but also as a fan favorite character having faked his identity all for the sake of a plot twist, left a bad taste in almost everyone's mouth. I'm not sure how I feel about Discord's plan, so I'm more in the latter camp.

To say the least, I think it could've been handled much better. Season 8 was great, but the spark was kinda gone for me by the time of season 9, so I don't think I missed much from the villains' side.

I still really like the main characters though. They and a small number of supporting characters who tend to be Ensemble Darkhorses are what kept me watching in hindsight.
