Luigi sucks
he posted something else aside from that probably.

I LOVED dbz while growing up, but I watched some recently and some of the nostalgia was destroyed. I don't think I'll ever try to watch it again. I'll just let the good memories stay intact

the interview went well btw. crushed it

As I was told Skrlx requested a ban, I thought near wanted to be banned. Therefore using another account to post would lead to an alt account ban. However he wanted the other account banned to use this one as main.

I don't know why he asked Hylian about it and I don't know what Hylian did to ban him, but there was no trace of what happened, thus my confusion. My apologies for all your hurt feelings.

can someone please explain the appeal of anime

i am not a fan of the artwork, for one, but i also feel like there's no way i'm going to feel anything for the characters. like, i read a book a few months ago called beat the reaper and it was a ****ing trip. several times on the plane i had to close the book and just stare out of the window and reflect on what just happened or what was just said. that's the mark of something spectacular (when ****ing christian bale's character tells rebecca hall in the prestige 'not today. no' oh my god i had to walk away for twenty minutes) for me, and nobody i've spoken to has mentioned anything like that.

it seems like most of the stuff going on is just fighting and battling and ****, and the plot doesn't vary. maybe some new fighter will come and there will be close ups of his eyes as his back is turned.

@ Rob Stone: Anime is a format. "Not liking anime" is like "not liking movies".

One Piece is the best shonen, then Hunter x Hunter. JJBA is hilarious. Everything else is meh to me. Yuyu Hakusho is nothing special aside from Chapter Black which was great IMO. The rest was too DBZesque and the beginning was some slice of life bs

That's like me asking what the appeal of novels is.

It's just another medium for storytelling.

No, most of it is not just fighting and battling, although I enjoy some good action when I watch anime if it's done well. The artwork can vary a lot from studio to studio, but I know what you mean. That's simply the style that is most prevalent.

Aside from that, the narrative used in anime is, imo, generally way better than tv/a lot of film here in the west. There's bad anime too just like anything else, but if I had to choose between that and what we have over here, I'd choose anime. They of course have their own common archetypes and all that, but the best way for me to explain it is to say that the japanese are especially good at handling tension in their stories, whereas here you'd generally get a lot of tension and immediate release in narrative. That gets really boring really quickly.

Maybe you haven't tried a good series, but their characters are pretty damn good.

I disagree with the Z tho. Hunter X Hunter was super enjoyable for me until the second part of the chimera ants arc. They spent most of those episodes telling you how complicated certain mechanics of the story were. I hate that. It wasn't even complicated. It was just so loaded with that stuff that the actual story moved forward one step every 5 episodes or something. Everything before that was paced ****ing perfectly imo.

One Piece will always be the best.

I liked Naruto then I turned 13

Berserk is horse**** imo, tries too hard to be "mature" with senseless violence and boobies

Popular anime/manga in a nutshell by the z

the short series PING PONG that mixa recommended to me is one of my favorites now.

It's only 11 episodes. You might dig that, cobr. Plus the artstyle is very different from your usual anime.

I've also started watching Knights of Sidonia, which was commissioned by Netflix I think. It's pretty good so far (Episode 3 right now).

the appeal of anime is

"An ancient evil has awakened..."
"We don't have a choice... We have to use... THAT."
"Why? Why are you so much stronger than me?" "Because I have FRIENDS!"
"Ehhhhhhh!?" -camera pans to the sky-
"What's wrong?" "Oh, i-it's nothing..." -stomach growls- -nervous laughter-
-Shot of a gigantic cloud over a mountain range with the sound of cicadas-

but really, rob stone, the appeal of anime is the subsequent hentai of your favorite characters

also i haven't watched anime in a while. :/

if it's only 11 episodes that's doable and i can definitely deal with that

i've got a bunch of preconceived notions about the genre

also mixa i prefer regular porn, hentai is too creepy for me (and i've seen some pretty ****ed up porn)

Hentai is to regular porn as digital is to analog as cds are to vinyl records.
can't count how many 'vinyl people' listen to music on youtube with cheap audio devices

cobr, try watching anime movies then, tv series are a waste of time anyway (except black mirror)

Entertainment is a waste of time by definition.

Series allow for more elements to build up and give a bigger impact i.e. marineford arc vs marineford movie

**** you mixa i love tv series. One downside to tv series with multiple seasons is that you don't get to experience the characters growing at the regular airing rate. I think that's one of the reasons why i didnt like breaking bad as much,

its just the reality of that medium tho

in terms of ongoing, one piece is the best shounen, then hajime no ippo if you're ok with sports

hunterxhunter doesnt count because it's never really ongoing, it just takes brief breaks from being on hiatus

berserk is fine, bit grim but it grips you like few other things can

"Ehhhhhhh!?" -camera pans to the sky-
you're the best

Rob Stone, you should try One Piece. It gets really good about 220 episodes in

so has the conversation shifted away from anime

on a similar note here is an oversexualized korean girl group (their engrish is pretty good)

I haven't sat down and watched a whole 30 minute tv show in like 6 years. I just don't feel the need to watch tv anymore. It happened around the same time I started playing online video games. I'd much rather play a multiplayer game with other people than watch a show.

FMA and FMAB are interesting, the first series was made along side the manga so they had to make their own ending.

FMAB on the other hand was made after the manga was completed, so it stays true to the intended story line.

I'm ok with watching anime, though I haven't seen too much of it. I try to stick to shorter series.
