Funk didn't place well, he'll tell you more.

Japanese smash tier list according to him (I mean he said that was their tier list):

Pikachu
Kirby
Falcon
Fox
Jigglypuff
Ness
Link
Mario
Samus
Yoshi
Luigi
DK

Loljiggly.

B Link: that Samus player is really good though.
I am surprised Dk is so low and Link/Jiggs are so high. I know Link is better but still, kinda surprising (more since DL seems to be the only legal stage in japanese tournaments.)

On another note, there is a character crew battle between Josuke and FAUST that should be seen by anyone who hasn't. I would provide a link but I cannot for now.

Yeah and Mario is surprisingly low. King Funk said they think Mario is overrated.

Is chess.com the main online chess website? I mean in the whole world?

@bcow If you're talking about Mario being overrated you should've inb4ed me raging about Yoshi's placement instead because that's the first thing that came to mind

Especially since Sossi and Prince are from Japan

But maybe it's results based and Sossi is retired and Prince hasn't placed well in those yearly tourneys? So I decided to post nothing.

but if you're inb4ing me posting anything at all then good job I guess lol

The first thing that caught my eye is Yoshi being 10th. Knowing my love for the character that doesn't seem strange.

I'm pretty sure I've said this before, but Star King hating on Mario is so 2011.

hipster bashing always has to be cool, because you can't be hipster to bash hipsters, meaning you have to be cool, and everything you do is cool

i might be a hipster tho

I wanted to talk about the google doc, but in order not to get the Falcon thread too offtopic, I'll post here.

Is all the info verified and true? I think what they say about staleness is wrong and about sliding DI too.

Also lol "The Doug Hug—Falcon’s upb (his full name being Douglas J. Falcon)".

Other than that, it was better than what I expected (I read it long ago). I even learned a few things, including this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IEHfk71_HO0.

They say when a move is stale, you need to do 3 other moves in order to unstale it. I think there are several level of staleness (the total number depends on the move) and each time you repeat the attack, you go to the next level of staleness and each time you do another attack, you decrease one level. So with Falcon if you uair twice, you need to bair (for example) once to have the uair unstale.

Slide DI isn't done by moving the controller in a 90° motion, but the goal is just to register two different directions within two frames. For example 128;45 then 128;-45. But the least you can do is a difference of 40 in the y-direction, ie 128;20 then 128;-20. This is the best right DI you can have.

Chan: it was battlecow's great idea to give these names to falcon and his upb.

Sangoku: That's the way staleness works in melee, but for most moves, I'm fairly sure that you can only stale it once and that it takes up to three moves to unstale it (there was a post by some new guy a while back that did a better job; it depends on percent dealt).

Then again, you're the guy who's always testing stuff, so I'm scratching my head. Have you tested this or are you just saying?

I had tested a while back, but maybe I did things wrong. I will retry to look at it some day. Or if you could find the post you're mentioning (I vaguely remember it, but really vaguely), that would be helpful. Thanks for the answer.

By the way, when I tested it I only looked at % dealt. Maybe staleness can also mean less knockback, but same %, which might explain why I was wrong. However I really doubt it is so complicated, because it means attack knockback scaling and base knockback must change everytime. I can easily check that too by the way. I just need to find the dying % of a given attack when unstale and see what happens with an a priori de-staled attack (2 uair, then one bair for example).

I named his up-B :S

Although one thing about something Toomai said in that thread:

The knockback calculation ignores the staleness factor of a hitbox. It does however work on the victim's damage after the hit, so a non-fresh move will deal less knockback because it dealt less damage.
Based on my tests the first sentence is definitely wrong and stale moves also have reduced knockback not just caused by lower damage

Sorry, all CREDIT TO THE STAR KING.

Thanks a lot. If the thread was by Toomai, what he said was probably true.

I could probably try to find out quite easily since I can freely change the % of a player.

By the way, nice new avatar.

Edit: ok, so I retested and I was wrong. The thread by Toomai is the most accurate stuff, so let's keep that.

Edit 2: you're right Star King, knockback changes, not only %. A Falcon kills another Falcon standing on DL's side platform with a Uair at 144+16. When stale, it kills him at 194+12.

I was wondering how long it would take for aa to post that, yawn

Those people do some super wack decisions. Also they released trailers for like 3 different new episodes, none of which they've released >______>. Also apparently they're going out of order and they skipped EoSD >__________>. And there was a trailer for SA, then PoFV, then IN >_____________________________>

...calm down, they're not being paid to do it (the concept of 'doujin' applies in full force, you of all people should know this) and the main intended audience is probably just youmu***s who want to see their objects of affection animated in a competent manner - the trailers are almost enough already, i certainly fangasmed when i saw it

you're pretty mad in the melee tier list thread too, chillax

I know and I appreciate the effort. It's just that after all the work put in it's strange to see them miss obvious things like letting Flandre out of the basement randomly, or seeing characters that are supposed to be met earlier. And strange stuff like the trailer for the first episode was for EoSD then boom, it's PCB.

I'm not mad in that thread (or here) at all I'm just releasing some long-term salt lol. You seem to be misreading my tone pretty badly
