So true. I h8 people's opinions on most things.

However, Australia gets the god-like Hamish and Andy.

Ghosting

Even BattleCow has to like due to the America reference.

I guess that's not common knowledge o.o
It might be for most people because they watch a lot of videos, and have probably seen many Japanese matches with 4 stocks. I how ever dont watch many videos (your pikachu matches are the biggest exception) and i definitely didn't pay attention to the number of stocks used in each of them.

Other then that i dont know how the amount of stocks thats used in Japan could be "common knowledge" for me.

I follow the number of stocks used in most matches. I was first aware of the Japanese using 4 stocks when watching Red Mario's matches.

Australia used 4 stocks for a while before realising 5 stocks was way more cooler. I would argue that 6 stocks>5 in a lot of cases though.

I'll stick with 4 stock friendlies.

I know the actual difference is probably very little but i keep thinking I'm getting more games in by using 4 stocks vs 5, without sacrificing to much of the competitive advantages to having a few more stocks in smash64.

When I play a 4 stocks match with my friends, they use to complaing about it, because they'd lose too soon;
5 stocks is the least I've been able to make them play, because the used to play 8 before :S

if battlecow wasn't American I'd make him an honorary American.

And I think it's totally acceptable to be proud of one's national heritage, especially since America is DA BESS nation in the history of man. And if you disagree you're either stupid or delusional.

Though it's been going downhill pretty sharply for the last century or so...

StretchNutz is ma man, he knows where it's at. Great American right thur.

Last sentence ehh maybe but still GREAT AMERICAN

I'm proud of being super handsome, even though that's the way I was born. Nothing wrong with being proud of things you yourself had no part in.

Yoshi is right. We're not the best at everything. Just the things that matter.

And yes, Comedy Central is indeed the greatest news station of all time.

Also I played Ecartman for like half an hour today; he's my new tied-for-favorite-smasher-ever. Such a class act.

Nope, that's another great example of something that there's no point in being proud of.

Now, if you have maximized your handsomness through things you've done (like this), then that's something to be proud of.

Well, I am proud of it (I'm proud of what I've done with it too, but still proud of IT). Get at me. Most people are proud of things they themselves didn't accomplish. Nothing wrong with taking pride in a community's achievements, or in those of your forebearers. I do it automatically, as do most people; it's just the way pride works.

"The uploader has not made this video available in your country.
Sorry about that."

What a jerk. It had better of been a link to John Cena's daily work-out though. Barefoot squats all day.
You can be proud of whatever you like really, even if it's not necessarily right. Pride gives you confidence.

Yes, and that's silly. Should I be proud of winning the lottery?

I judge myself based on my own conscious actions.

You play the hand you're dealt.

Do any of you play any other smash game besides 64?
I play melee so much since mid 2010 my brother is like why won't I just sell my old games. Lol that's my dedication on trying to get good. Never liked the results I got at my first No Johns bi-weekly tournament knowing there was more to my skill, just me being nervous got in the way. It also felt good to lose though, since I have a house full of siblings that can't seem to beat me in any of the smash games. Planning on trying again this spring break...to give it another shot.

I also play brawl once in a blue moon...

How precious. He believes that his "conscious decisions" are somehow determined by some abstract "self" rather than simply by the circumstances and body he was born into.

I'm no philosophy student, but that makes no sense on the face of it.

That being said, being proud of your country makes just as much sense as being proud of your military service or good investment decisions or w/e

Debatable.

I would have agreed with you, but now I'm not sure. I had a debate with my mom that lasted several hours about this lol. Not going to go into it.

Like I said, I'm no philosophy student. I was just saying what seemed obvious to me (of course, I'm assuming that none of us is approaching this from a religious perspective, because then the point's moot).

How, may I ask, is it debatable?

So you're saying you don't believe in free will?

I don't think free will is 100% for sure proven, but I think that I observe it with each action I take. Plus the fact that humans in general seem awfully unpredictable. These are the reasons I believe in free will.

But anyway, if determinism is true, then there is no sense in being proud of anything either, since it was all determined.

Now of course, circumstances and so forth have had an impact on the decisions that I have made. But my claim is merely that pride only makes sense for things that you had an impact on.

I suppose you could achieve an equivalent effect by claiming "well I'm proud of the fact that I currently live in the US", which actually is a conscious choice. It's not really much of an accomplishment, but it's better than being proud of something that you had no impact on at all.

Anyway, once again, should I be proud of winning the lottery?

That's exactly what my mom asked me when we had our debate lol

I told her that I do believe in "free will", it's just that it is "fated" to make a certain choice based on you as a person (again, your genetic orientation + environmental influences). I don't like the use of the word "fate" there, but I don't know what other word to use.

Plus the fact that humans in general seem awfully unpredictable.
LOLWUT

What if it were determined that he'd be proud?

Got him.
Well, hopefully he's determined to realize that it's a foolish pride, if it's based of things that he has no control of.

If he's determined to not realize this, then that's his loss.
