I know we're talking about birds but something that's been on my mind the last few days:

Anyone else feel like Ridley got kind of... overshadowed in this game? Between Everyone Is Here, K. Rool, Joker, Banjo-Kazooie, etc. what was once the most anticipated and demanded newcomer in Smash history had his 15 minutes of fame and then the Smash fanbase moved onto other things. I think his popularity peaked in Smash 4 and if he was revealed then he would have been easily one of the most discussed/hyped newcomers of that game, with maybe only Mega Man being more talked about. It's great that he's finally here but I think of all the characters in Smash, he's the one that kinda feels "too late."

I don't think he was necessarily overshadowed, the buzz around his reveal at E3 was enormous, just that the talk for him faded into the background. The people who didn't care for him beyond speculation didn't have any reason to talk about him anymore and his fans congregated elsewhere. It happened to K. Rool too and I'm already seeing it happening with Banjo, that's just how hype cycles are.

Personally, Daisy is the one I'd say got overshadowed. Next to nobody talks about her at all.

She feels like one of the few additions that came later than expected.

First Ridley is seen in the clouds. Then we see Ridley's shadow which implied he wouldn't be playable(but made it clear he's a stage hazard). Now he's overshadowed. Dragon can't catch a break, can he?

Not really. He was revealed at E3 2018 as one of the first few newcomers. That's about the best you can get.

If you feel like he's overshadowed, it's probably because he was one of the first reveals. People move on from one reveal to the next, and it isn't long before "the most exciting reveal ever" becomes yesterday's news. Most people have gotten over K. Rool a long time ago, no one is talking about the weirdness of PP, and Joker isn't a crazy surprise character anymore. Even Banjo talk is already fading away, and it'll likely stay that way until he gets released, only to die down once again after a while.

Yeah I’m ecstatic that Ridley is the game and even play him a lot, but since he’s already in what can I really say that hasn’t already been said? People are a lot less loud when they’re content.

I mean, we're treating freaking Cloud Strife in a Nintendo crossover as just another swordfighter.

Happens to everyone.

Time to take down my DLC wishlist in my signature.

Balloon Fighter is still my most wanted character, but it would definitely upset the Smash community by believing he'd ruin the value of the Fighters Pass (plus there's already a lot of Balloon Fight content in Ultimate).

And while I still really want Shantae, my interest in Rayman, Geno, and Dixie Kong has dwindled greatly.

Doubt I'll make a new signature wishlist.
