hey Noipoi Noipoi since you're the Pokemon expert...

Replaying BW's postgame and I forget if I missed any areas with postgame trainers. I cleared all the routes on the east side of Unova and have all the sages accounted for. Cleared Challenger's Cave. Still need to fight Cynthia and E4 rematch.

I'm terribly sorry. Will do. I also should had known better since this movie is only two months old. Learned that the hard way with Lego Movie 2.

Noipoi I also suggest you spoil my quoted posts. Doing that for my earlier posts.
It’s okay.

Tbh I was hoping to see it back in February but it ended up where we couldn’t go and I guess me and my dad kinda forgot (though I’m sure we can get the DVD in August since it seems cheap).

Edit: Woops meant back in May. My mind must be getting scrambled.

Yu Yu Hakusho, but do yourself a favor and watch the sub.
What's the problem with the dub?

Granted I like subbed YYH but the dub is still really good IMO.

Hey the old Pokemon theme. Didn't think I'd hear it in this movie!

Is it actually known in the game series and anime if Dittos can turn into people?

Man that Clifford guy. What an egoistical ****wad.

Huh maybe that Lucy girl won't turn out to be bad. Still betting on it she and the main lead will get together in the it. I feel it.

Movies good so far. Slow build up sure but I think its necessary given the premise and being a crime detective film. I'm certain as the movie goes on more will happen that it promises to deliver.

Man I tell ya sure not ugly like the Lickitung and Snubbull but Psyduck sure as hell has a demented looking face.

Oh man maybe I was wrong. The way Lucy is looking at them, that little smirk on her face. Maybe she is in some way bad. Again watch she decides to side with them both at the end against the enemies.

If the Mr. Mime has the ability to make invisible walls. Why doesn't it just use that to its advantage and run off?

Lots of script changes and generally mediocre actors.
I mean I thought a lot of performances were great. Cook as Yusuke for instance. I know there's a lot of dumb changes in dub versions of anime but most didn't bother me a whole lot.

Any performances you didn't like in particular?

Chris Sabat as Kuwabara is nails on a chalkboard. Cook generally tried to make Yusuke sound too cool and dropped the ball on his more emotional moments. Chuck Huber is fine as Hiei but doesn't really fit how Hiyama plays him (calm and collected, rarely angry). Cranz's Botan slipped in and out of that accent to distracting extremes. Just off the top of my head.

There might be a lil side quest here or there, you could spend hours trying to get all the relics for example, but for the most part you’re good.

Ahh well fair enough I suppose. I thought a lot of those performances brought charm to those characters. Like Sabat made Kuwabara really lovable albeit kind of an oof. I thought Cook was a lot better than his Japanese counterpart as Yusuke personally but that's just me. I enjoy both performances as Hiei but Hiyama has a certain charm to his work (shows in OoT Link as well lol). And as for Kurama, I vastly prefer the English dub. Not a fan of females voicing teen/adult male characters in the slightest.

Ditto can turn into pretty much anything

Mr. Mime could just make a wall and leave, but unless their lives are in immediate danger they much prefer being entertaining.

Dang I must be losing track of time. I thought Detective Pikachu released in February but nope it was May when I asked my dad.

It feels like long ago. This is not an epic gamer moment.

To be fair I am kinda scatterbrained, or at least I feel that way.

Then I don't have to ask your opinion on Japanese Goku. Kurama's generally fine in the dub, but Megumi Ogata is iconic.

I mean sure both Ogata, Nozawa, and all those female seiyuu are incredibly talented actors. Not even disputing that. I just generally hate it when teen/adult males are voiced by women. Maybe it's just a personal gripe I guess.

Oh okay it wasn't a mirror but a wall. How did the main lead know that though? Maybe he studied all kinds of Pokemon to know that such as Mr. Mime's? That's the best conclusion I can come up with.

So Mr. Mime's have invisible properties? Interesting...

That cutaway. Poor Mr. Mime did it die? Nah doubt it given Pokemon durability.

Man the way the setting of Pokemon Detective Pikachu is. They're really creative with how society goes especially the way Loudred's are used to do music and sound.

Man if I thought angry live-action Jigglypuff was nightmare fuel I've proven myself wrong with a live-action Gengar.

Aw man maybe I was right. Is that Lucy undercover working for bad guys?

Aw man cool! Live-action Charizard looks like an actual dragon. So fierce and awesome as any dragon should be and the frontal teeth are a nice touch! Probably my favorite Pokemon design so far in this movie!

Charizard looks more fierce then ever. Man look how menacing he looks under the influence with that gas!

Oh **** all the gas has been leaked. This can't be good. I can only imagine what chaos is gonna stir now. Hope Pikapool is immune...

I do, but generally only after I settle on a cast and story first. Worldbuilding should be in service of a good story, not the other way around.
Yeah most of the time the worldbuilding stems off from characters first. Although sometimes I feel like I like to do worldbuilding just as a creative outlet for myself rather than a cohesive story with characters.

For everyone that responded to my original question, I’d be interested to hear y’all talk about your worlds if you want.

Of all the Pokemon. Only the Magikarp was sparred from the gas. Lol!

Phew good thing Pikapool wasn't exposed to the gas. That or he was somehow immune.

How did that Magikarp suddenly randomly evolved? Eh doesn't matter if I thought Charizard's design was wicked the same is with Gyarados because looks like a beast!!!! My favorite designs so far in the movie.

I don't want to come across being like CinemaSins but shouldn't the Charizard's flame on its tail have been put out given it was exposed to water?

Oh goodie. The typical trope where no one believes you about something but eventually they do near the climax or end.

Man who knew Pokemon could express such facial emotion. Props to this movie in putting into all the detail. Pikapool already has been nailing the role and I didn't think he could anymore!

The chemistry and character development between the main character and Pikapool is amazing. Started off slow and now its to that point the two respects each other and shows care. This was a very emotional scene with both coping over his father being possibility dead.

I think video games are a perfect medium for wanting to worldbuild but not being too concerned about narrative/characters. Not really my field though lol.

Technically not a "world" but I rebooted a project of mine and completely redid the setting to go from being set in the modern day to being set in the future in an alternate timeline. It's been really fun although there's a lot of "oh god but what about this and that and this." I have to think about the behavior of the characters in the context of this world, their habits, etc. It's fun but also kinda overwhelming at times.

I do have one myself. I believe I shared it around last November.

Small synopsis of it for those who care...

Basically. my story is sort of a mix of FE7 & Live a Live. I envisioned my main antagonist as being an "evil Link" of sorts in a sense that he's an ancient hero turned villain (through a terrible series of events that corrupted him) who aspires to create a "perfect reality" and forms a cult in doing so. Though the catch is he's brainwashing all those that follow him to achieve his own twisted goals. His "perfect reality" serves to benefit him and him alone.

Just a friendly suggestion, I'd recommend putting some context in your spoiler-only posts, so that people know if it's okay for them to open the spoiler tags.

To bring it back to Smash, as for the leaker in Sabi's discord hint, I'll reiterate that I'm not a fan of hint leaks. The best leakers just drop the info, or make the hint obvious up front (like Shinobi). Either it's information the leaker thinks we should know, in which case spill it, or it's information they think we shouldn't know, in which case shut it. Whenever it comes to hint leaks, I just ignore it. Not shooting the messenger, just pointed at the leaker--I don't care how good of a track record someone has, if they give esoteric hints, it's tantamount to nothing.

Endgame kinda stumbles in the time travel plot, though it does have amazing pay-offs. The themes Winter Soldier is credited to exploring I believe were handled better in its sequel. And there's some really odd writing choices in Black Panther that bewilder me...

In the world I came up with, every single human being works a JRPG character. They all have eight moves (though a rare phenomena can occur that lets certain humans have sixteen), and everyone has types (usually it's one to three types, but it's possible to have more if you're lucky). Also, everyone has unique physical features that differentiate them from everyone else, and usually represent their types. The types you're born with, but the moves you have to learn, and there's a certain island you have to go to in order to add moves to your moveset. The moves have types too. There are 32 types in total:
  1. Fire
  2. Water
  3. Earth
  4. Air
  5. Electric
  6. Frost
  7. Plant
  8. Wood
  9. Metal
  10. Gem
  11. Gemini
  12. Alien
  13. Dragon
  14. Spatial
  15. Age
  16. Rift
  17. Mystery
  18. Flying
  19. Bestial
  20. Insect
  21. Art
  22. Sound
  23. Creep
  24. Medic
  25. Science
  26. Handheld
  27. Infection
  28. Battle
  29. Trick (males only)
  30. Mutant (males only)
  31. Psychic (females only)
  32. Sparkle (females only)
There's a bunch of other JRPG mechanics implemented too.

A lot of the characters use their moves for good, but a lot use their moves for evil, and a lot just stay neutral.
