Yeah it's already looking like competitive Sword/Shield will be miserable. I was missing Megas so far, and the return of Stone Shenanigans makes me feel bleh about it all.

That trailer was really cool, I'm a lot more interested in this game now. Exclusive gym leaders really peeve me though, that presents a far bigger choice than exclusive pokemon do and I don't like that.

And that's kinda why I like version exclusive gym leaders. Now choosing a version will be more meaningful as opposed to just, "Hmm... Which has the cooler Legendary?"

Honestly what I'm most curious to see is where Hero will be placed in the All-Star Mode line-up.

Would he be considered 2017 because Luminary is the face?
Would he be 1988 because Erdrick is the oldest playable version?

It shouldn't be a meaningful choice, if you ask me. Exclusive pokemon are mostly inconsequential to the gameplay experience, but gym leaders are an essential part of the game that every player will go through. I'm missing out on a completely different challenge depending on what version I buy. All it does is further encourage people to waste money buying different versions.

I’m going to be honest, Pokémon Sword and Shield look more hype with each bit of news.

I don’t know, go ahead and tell me i’m not a “real fan” for being able to deal with no National Dex as of this moment. The world itself looks great, I really like the new Pokémon. Dynamaxing is eh, and maybe my view will change if several of my favorite Pokémon aren’t available.

I just really like the Pokémon games. They’re loads of fun when there’s stuff to do. I hope there’s good post-game content, and I know i’ll be catching all the new Pokémon to “complete the National Pokédex” on my own terms. I will admit it sucks that Home will get in the way of an official completion unless they update it later, but it’s not the end of the world if you ask me.

Seems like folks dwell on the negatives rather than looking at what can be positive.

Bowser Jr is placed in 2002 even though the koopa kids are from the 90s, following that logic it would likely be when the "face" of the character debuted, so 2017.

Oleana and Allister were the only things about that trailer that were remotely interesting.

And if they actually do another "good guy is actually bad guy" cliché twist for the THIRD game in a row, this game will be even more of a hard pass than it already is. Sword and Shield feels like the least creative game in the series right now.

I mean, the game looks good and dandy, for the most part, but I dont like what they did with cutting pokemon, not telling which were cut and version gym leaders , and if that me dwelling on the negitives, so be it but I aint gonna stop peeps from buyin the game

I just realized something... I have never given my thoughts on the National Dex controversy.

Well, honestly I don't care too much. It sucks a lot, since some of my Pokemon such as my Shiny Genesect I likely won't be able to transfer, but that won't ruin the entire game for me.

It's honestly kind of funny how blatantly obvious it is that Chairman Rose is the evil team leader lol.

Like, the credible leak that only got more credible with Gigantimaxing listed the team as Team Yell and said they're a bunch of soccer hooligans. Rose is the head of the Gym league which is based on soccer this time. And well, look what went down when Sword and Shield likely started development.

I really love what they're doing with gym leaders. Previous games generally hyped gym leaders through local word of mouth but we never really saw how important they were to other people. Gen 8 just makes them celebrities, which makes perfect sense for what a gym leader is supposed to be.

The fact that we barely got any new info from this trailer and people are getting excited tells me that I was right from the beginning.

Sooner or later, people will get tired of constantly critisizing a game they secretly want to be excited for and will start focusing more and more on the positives.

I see what you mean, but Duraludon looks more like a weapon while Gigalith is just a bunch of jaggy rocks, giving Dura that edge for me.
