Oh great! I can't wait for 10% of the game to be actually running around and hacking and slashing bad guys and for 90% of it to be pointless running around looking for **** and solving random unnessesary puzzles! That's EXACTLY why I play hack and slashes! Who playes a hack and slash to actually hack and slash? That's so silly! Those games are outdated now! Everyone knows now that it's not a video game without a huge pointless open world and slow clunky and repetitive combat! This means the new game will be actually great unlike the first one which was utter trash! It had no variety! Where are my boat riding and rhythm minigames!?! Everyone knows you need pointless additional gameplay styles instead of just a lot of the one thing people actually bought the game for!
There's absolutely nothing that suggests that Age of Calamity won't be 99% hack and slash.

As it should be. I doubt Dynasty Warriors devs would be able to make interesting puzzles anyway.

One Piece Pirate Warriors 3 did a couple puzzles here and there iirc, but I always hated them because A) they literally give you the answer and B) almost always the "puzzle" was a time crunch as someone else rushes straight towards you/your main defensive objective and you had to complete the stuff you needed to do ASAP.

I'd be okay with a small roster if they do more with the characters they use. It's cool enough seeing that all the characters will have their different variations of the Sheikah Slate effects. And we just learned that Link can use different weapons, as today's gameplay showed him using a spear. And considering Impa and Zelda had multiple movesets in the first Hyrule Warriors, it's possible Link won't be the only one with multiple weapon movesets. All of the characters having multiple unique movesets would make up for a small roster.

IDK. To me it just comes across as cheap. Like, they could have made a seperate character who uses the spear, but they didn't want to have to model and rig a new character so they just plopped it onto Link. Plus it depends on how you get them. Is it a matter of switching freely with a button press? Do you pick the weapon after you pick your character on the select? Or (the worst possible option) do the weapons break and you have to find a new one out in the maps. That would just be tedious.

To sorta go more on this post, in Breath of the Wild, almost all of the cultures had a weapon for each category. Like while Zoras mainly use spears, they also made swords, greatswords, bows and shields. Like wouldn't it be cool for Mipha to have a moveset from one of the other weapon sets and her weapon would be the weapon from that culture? Like if Mipha used a sword and shield, she'd be using the Zora Sword and Silver Shield? Or if Impa used a greatsword, it'd be the Eightfold Longblade? Or if Urbosa used a bow, it'd be the Golden Bow? Or if Daruk used a spear, it'd be the Drillshaft?

Like seeing the different weapons made by different cultures was a legitimately cool lore detail and it'd be pretty cool to see the Champions and Impa wield the weapons from their respective cultures.

Mipha also uses a spear fyi.

It's a direct callback to BotW where Link can use different weapon types. Based on the gameplay the main weapons don't have durability (which I would hope not because you're slashing through 100's of enemies at once so they wouldn't last very long) but secondary weapons like the Fire Rods do have limited uses. I wouldn't be surprised if Link had a third moveset for heavy weapons like in BotW.

Alternatively the other characters may also use different weapon types but based off of BotW and how they are portrayed, all the other characters are weapon specialists whereas Link is more of a jack of all trades type fighter. Of course we can't say for sure about Impa so she could use different weapon types as well. And we still don't know much about Zelda's gameplay but I can't really picture her swinging a Longsword around so it's likely just going to be her one moveset.

Disagree. If it's satisfying to play and hack through the enemies then I could play it all day every day for weeks.
Personally if there's no obvious rewards or something cool to do(new movesets to try out, new stages to play, etc) I get bored really quick and "fun" is no longer had for me. Once I run out of new things to do I tend to drop games unless it's something I really enjoy(like BOTW for example)

Zelda could get a moveset around her awakened powers. Like if the Zelda we start with uses the Sheikah Slate, the Zelda we end with could have her awakened powers and her Bow of Light and light arrows.

Zelda doesn't awaken her powers until way into the Calamity; iirc it's right before they make it to Hateno.

My money is on her using the Sheikah Slate with the runes and maybe a small weapon here and there, with her getting an upgrade in the final stage to use her sealing powers in a "final destination"-esche stage.

hmm.... I get skeptical of any elements in a hack and slash that prevent me from mindlessly slashing through waves of enemies and feeling like an ultra-powerful badass. And limited use special weapons (unless it refills with endless energy orbs that pour out of your slain foes) would get in the way of that.

What I was thinking was about after Link gets put into the Shrine of Resurrection. Like after Link falls, Zelda gets her powers and Link is put into the shrine, Zelda goes to the castle, fighting with her awakened powers, she fights against Ganon for a bit, then eventually "seals" Ganon with herself until Link is healed in the Shrine of Resurrection for the events of Breath of the Wild. That's what I had in mind when I was thinking about a second possible moveset for Zelda.

Next week’s episode looks kinda of crazy:

Ash, Go, Jessie, and James are teaming up to raid battle Zapdos.

Which the last time there was a raid battle, Go, caught Golurk.

So someone might actually get Zapdos next week which would be wild.

Still team rocket team up episodes are always great.

Well judging from what we've seen the rods don't seem mandatory. It looks like they're used to stun groups of enemies.

Its pobably not going to be a huge problem for people who just want to mash.

I'll admit just as much as you that I agree with that. But personally I like to see new things. I don't like killing the same 5 enemies variations with the same tried and true swordie character, y'know? I like to see new things, try new concepts, and the like.

A varied palate is the best palate or so they say.

I don't mind Warriors games, just can get boring and once you've played about two, you've played them all.

Having played Fire Emblem Warriors and Dynasty Warriors.

Dynasty Warriors never interested me, but I found myself really enjoying Hyrule Warriors.

Still, playing it for hours on end can get boring unless the enemy shows enough variety or the difficulty gets cranked up enough to make it interesting, legitimately challenging and entertaining, but not insanely hard.

HW's story campaign was pretty great (the villain levels in particular were a highlight) but the Adventure Map is when the fights really get interesting.

On an unrelated note, I started Shield's Isle of Armor DLC expansion yesterday.

Decided to add Bulbasaur and Alolan Vulpix to my current team. May add Rockruff to it as well, and when I eventually find that Shinx, you can bet it'll be going on my team line-up immediately

I love all of the callbacks to DQ3 and how you can get the iconic outfits for Hero, Hendrick, and Serena. This game is amazing.

Currently trying to rebuild Cobblestone so I can buy a few Pep Pips/Pops for more Electro Light grinding. I'm no DQ expert so Calasmos kinda ended up kicking my ass on the first attempt.

I'm personally more of an MMO guy myself(my steam account is just filled with free-to-play mmos lol) but hot damn Hyrule Warriors is up there in my favorite games of all time. OP: Pirate Warriors 3 too, but just a little bit lower because it's overall wasn't as fun to me.

The only good thing to come out of DMC2 is Dante's design.
And DMC3, since it was made so that Hideaki Itsuno could prove he could make a good ass game & not let DMC2 be forever what he was know for.

So have been spending the day redownloaded most games on my PS4. My never deletes like God of War, Yakuza 0, Mirrors Edge and Trails of Cold Steel have all been downloaded and threw a few like Borderlands and Detroit Become Human into the mix.
To add to it, now thinking about buying a few games from the various sales on PSN despite my eagerness to get Persona 5 Royal (which at £35/$45 is very tempting) like Everybody's Golf, No Man's Sky and Just Cause 4 together. There's a lot of options there so might ask you guys later.

In other news, I ate Chicken Fries from Burger King. That is all.

Edit: Back to Made in Abyss for my pfp. Gonna watch the third film tonight.
