To be fair it's pretty neat to see a live chat's reactions to a legitimately exciting reveal from time to time, but for the most part it's more of a nuisance than anything else.

Unfortunately you are correct.

Reminds me of a conversation I had with a tutor of mine a few years back when he asked about my liking to get lesser known games compared to COD and GTA etc.

"I like games that are different and change your perspective on things" was all I said.

In an ideal world games like Gravity Rush and Ico would sell far more using those two games as an example because of my personal connection and love for them.

I could continue but and give another conversation example that happened recently but I'll most likely work myself up.

To be completely fair, a lot of these shooters debuted (or got mega popular) during the GC/PS2/XBOX era, when online gaming was becoming mainstream, as well as gaming as a whole being kicked into high gear. And the frantic, quick bursts of shooting everything in site that Doom popularized was perfect to bring into an online enviroment. Most people get shooters because they want a good, quick, and fun online experience (who actually buys CoD for the campaign?), which a lot of shooters have been providing since the 2000s.

Not saying there's anything wrong with other games, but shooters are mad popular for a reason.

You know with stuff like this I tend to be tempted to ask Friends such as Osby or Guh-Huzzah! about they consoles they own and which games from them they like the most.

But then I remember they are signed to the AMAs and think "oh well, maybe I should rather leave that question for when that happens".

Although I could tag other friends such as Cutie Gwen or Lamperouge as they don't have plans to join the AMAs.

In that case I wonder if you ever owned a Xbox and which games you liked from the system.

I don't my friend. That's my brother's territory so I'm the PlayStation side of the two siblings. There's a spare Xbox One in the house but needs a new controller but I used it last summer to play Banjo-Kazooie.

I do love Forza, Ori and Rare Replay though. I'm downloading Ori and the Blind Forest demo for Switch as we speak. And I'm super jealous of Xbox fans with Forza Horizon games. They look amazing.

I have a PS3, PS4, Switch, 3DS and PS Vita so ask away on them if you are curious.

Anyways I'm going to do a self blocking from here and Discord for a few hours. I need to be up for 8am tomorrow (earliest in months except England) as I've a hospital appointment so need to get a bit of sleep before the loud sibling time.

I'll be working on my story as well. The self blocking is for the websites I frequent to not keep distracting myself.

If it makes you feel better, I never use it. I'd probably prefer to play most of them on an emulator, with higher framerate and a controller that doesn't assume I have 3 arms. I just don't wanna get rid of it because I still own about a dozen N64 games on cartridge, including the rare Clayfighter: Sculptor's Cut worth hundreds.

I mean you do pick up elemental chips that give you advantages against most bosses, but that's about it.

To obtain the extra moves in the other games you have to have a high rank for the given mission. The Zero series is all about rankings, and will partially punish players for using cyber elfs.

Yesterday was a really fun time. As my brother and I bonded. I decided to show him all the Smash characters in Ultimate.

He thought Villager and Wii Fit Trainer were the most ridiculous characters included and was baffled about Piranha Plant. He also thought Peach/Daisy had the worst final smash.

I've lost many consoles/had them break over the years. Went through two N64's, multiple NES's, actually gave the other SNES to my brother(bought 2. I gave him the one that had different cords), accidentally crushed a Game Boy Color, my old GameCube had a bad 4th controller port, and somebody stole my PlayStation X(not to be confused with the PS1). Also, some of these do not work right. My N64's barely work at all, my GameCube lens won't work right, my current New 3DS XL has a broken game spring(the game pops out) and then the D-Pad stopped fully working. My regular GBA has battery troubles, and let's be honest, how often does an NES work reliably? On the other hand, my GBA SP's, the PlayStation stuff, and Dreamcast work wonderfully. My Sega Genesis 2 works so well that I have to actually force the game to lock to "freeze" the console. Which is insane. Oh, sometimes Youtube glitches on my Switch and it feels like the console is locked down for hours on end, but I dunno if I'm just pressing the wrong buttons when that happens, so eh.

...I have no plans to buy a Virtual Boy at this time. Definitely not on the Game Boy Micro either. The freaking thing is too small for my hands.

The market is flooded with shooters right now but if you look at it as a whole, it used to be flooded with mascot platformers instead. Nowadays you have a lot of people wondering where all the 3D platformers went.

I wonder if shooters will one day go through a similar fate where some other game genre takes the market by storm, leaving only a handful of triple A shooters left. Then we'll have people wondering where all the shooters went.

There's my existential video game musings for the day.

Most shooters don't interest me unless it's like splatoon or overwatch that has something else to them. I just never have been good at them and don't find them appealing as a genre.

Give me a fighting game, MOBA or RPG and I am cooking.
