What many of us (even myself at times) need to understand is that Smash speculation shouldn't really be about guessing which one of us is right or wrong or who leaks the most stuff.
The way I see It speculation should be used as a tool to let people inside the Smash fandom learn more about characters who aren't as spoke of as the big names, and learning what all of them could bring in the case they get in Smash.
An extreme number of people tend to take speculation too seriously, and take anyone who doesn't bring up their characters or just doesn't have as much interest for them as a menace to their most wanted. When in reality the right thing would be to let people share not just on the forums or around Discord their love for a series and why they would see It work in Smash.
I could talk about a good chunk of personal experiences about how I made many Smash Bros fans around Discord get into Sakura Wars just for talking with them about the stuff I like from the series and the stuff they could bring upon to Smash with a rep. And It is honestly quite wonderful to see myself getting more people into series which do need some push in regards to the amount of people who play them.
As you can tell from the presence of Alan the Brave, Office Dragon, and Maverick; this is a loose adaptation of the famous "Warrior King" arc that stretched over the four shows of the "USA Action Extreme Team" programming block (Street Fighter, Savage Dragon, Mortal Kombat: Defenders of the Realm, and Wing Commander Academy) about as loosely as said arc adapted the Capcom game Magic Sword. With these references driven home by the presence of Nightwolf's companion Kiba, as well as Clany Brown replacing Richard Epcar as Raiden and Micheal Dorn providing Alan's voice. The basic plot is that Alan's orb, along with the souls of both Bison and Shao Kahn after their defeats in SFV and MK9, is trapped between dimensions with both souls pulling on it to try to restore their bodies, merging the dimensions inadvertently in the process.
SEGA is reviving IPs from left to right, pushing hard their anniversary and sooner or later I'm seeing Nintendo taking part in all that one way or another due to their story with SEGA.
And honestly, what better way to do It than more SEGA content in Smash?
While some say they could do It through a general Spirit event, I find the possibilities of a fighter more likely as SEGA would easily want to get some extra cash through Mii costumes.
I feel either Sakura (with an alt of Amamiya from the PS4 game), Kyryu, Beat or a Phantasy Star rep are happening. And some of the Mii costumes will include Alex Kidd and Billy Hatcher, hopefully Ulala too.
Even if either Geno or a SEGA rep don't happen I won't be mad. After all I already got the DQ8 Hero in which by himself was already seem as highly unlikely, so I can't really complain.
Any of you guys looking forward to this week? I'm very much looking forward to this week. Between Min Min, my new purchases on Steam, getting my bike fixed and finally lancing this chalazion in my eye that's been there for months, I'm thinking I'm gonna have a good week this week.
You guys oughta look forward to this week, too, there's no telling what it could bring you!

If I remember right this week I may be able to meet back with all my IRL friends in person again which is great. May start working on the plans for our holidays at the south.
Min Min also seems really hype although first I need to save 30€ for FP2 (really want that BotW Mii costume).
Also looking forward to supporting my IRL friends with the final exams. Been thinking about going to the center where they are done for motivational support between each exam break.
And that's about It. A good amount of stuff to do but still cool.

Groovy. It's nice to know everything's mellowed out to the point where we can just hang out at home with friends and family again. My nieces have been starved for one another's antics for months.
Here's hoping your friends pass with flying colors!

Been thinking about coolingdown from Smashboards and many Smash Bros-related servers as I feel Smash speculation is taking out the worst out of not just myself but many internet friends.
Hoping that when I feel more positive about It a lot of my friends and I find peace again.
I saw the discussion earlier on people saying Geno feels less likely now.
I actually feel the opposite though and I honestly thought after base game he lost his chance, even more so when Banjo came out, because they wouldn’t put two of the most requested characters for years one one pass imo.
FP2 with 6 slots now and Min Min have really raised his chances imo.
I said it before but I’ll say it again, I would not be shocked if Sakurai promoted DQ so hard because he made a deal to do that first if he could use Geno as a playable character later. Note that at this time FP2 has all its slots in the game and was likely being finalized.
Sakurai said he wants and likes Geno, and recognized that demand. He gave us Ridley, K Roland Banjo the other giants of smash wants. He seems very dedicated to those demands based on the smash ballot. I think Geno did really well there and DQ was the last hurdle as realistically Disney would probably interfere and hinder square and Nintendo if they wanted Sora, and I don’t think Lara Croft gets in next.
With Banjo likely saved as a big character for the first DLc( Like Cloud was the big DLC character last game), I feel like Geno could be saved for this passes big character. Min-min opens the door for his promotion and I think the timing is just right.
That’s not even mentioning the two Mario RPG songs that got copyright striked( one of which is literally Geno’s theme) around the same time as megalovania and other tracks that have gotten into smash now. As well as the shut down of a mod where Geno was the main focus, which has been around for like 4 years after project M shut down, so why wait till now if that was the reason? With these strikes and take downs tying into past announcements like Samus returns, it just feels like the stars are aligning for Geno. Plus there’s still that mii costume leak...
I could be completely wrong but I’m thinking it’s his time and that he’s next.

I'm not a fan of the "DQ was just a roadblock in front of Geno" theory. That series is a huge deal in Japan and for RPGs. Chances are that it got into Smash for its own merits like Final Fantasy, not because SE was holding a dead one-off character hostage.
They know that Valve can't/won't stop them in a reasonable amount of time, so they want to make your life miserable to the point that you stop playing.
Valve did a massive bot killswitch just recently, but literally minutes after, they just figured out ways around the measures Valve took.

I mean, it's not bad enough to make me quit (I can disconnect and find plenty of servers with zero bots, community servers are a thing, I can take a break on bad days, and it'sfar from the only game I actively play right now) but Valve still really needs to expand their TF2 dev team and anti-cheat/bot team again.
It's a minor inconvenience st best for me, but it still warrants taking care of. Sucks that there are people so jerkish that they just want to make people quit some random online game altogether.

I've been playing it less often for quite some time, now. Partly because I'm more busy with more important things in life, partly because I'm putting my free time into other games instead.
But when I do play TF2 anymore, the thrill and fun of the game is still there for me. I probably won't totally quit the game until it's final breath. Bots or no bots, that time won't come for a while.
geno has a decent shot at being in the fighters pass but the idea that square held him hostage - a character that sakurai once said "hey he'd be neat if he got into smash" at most - is silly tinfoil hat stuff, dragon quest is probably the biggest and most influential japanese gaming series after super mario
if geno gets in it will be because sakurai, nintendo, and square all decided to add him to a second pass. that's it. no 4d chess

True but the idea is that they were in with the reason being to promote it in the west. Which when every direct had like five minute trailers and it took most of the promotion before it’s release, it really comes off as them getting in to appeal to the west more then anything else first for their new game, imo.

We definitely got Eleven as the face of Heros because of promotion but chalking up Dragon Quest getting into Smash entirely to marketing is like saying Banjo was added to promote Xbox in Japan.
I know this doesn't relate to Min Min but I'll say it anyway.
I'm thinking about finally buying and playing NieR Automata. Is there anything I should do before getting it, like maybe learning the story of the previous games or something?

Yeah, Automata doesn't really require much knowledge of Drakengard/Nier. You should be completely fine playing it without knowledge of the previous games' story.

Though I don’t have much to say about the normal rosters (I’m not a huge huge fan of either, so I don’t recognize too many characters by name), I can just tell what kind of game would be based on the amount of characters and the few who’s names I know. And in the special guests, it’s good that you’re able to tell clearly which is an MK guest and which is an SF guest. And while I’m not sure who Zero is, I’m gonna assume it’s.. the Mega Man one. Just because the only other one I can think of right now is an anime girl that my friend has on a hoodie.
A lot of the inclusions are really unique, however, I find the console exclusives the most unique. They all fit for the console they represent, so it’d be almost impossible for someone playing this game to have never heard of the extra character they get from their console. And they all fit well into this game too!
The plot itself doesn’t seem too unique, but you didn’t go into it too much so I can’t really assume it would’ve been that way had you decided to make this huge game concept. It works for what it need to be.
Only stage name I recognize is Suzaku Castle, but just based on the names I can tell it’s a good stage selection.
Nonetheless, it’s a pretty good concept! I personally wouldn’t play it, as I never really liked Mortal Kombat, but I’m sure it would sell well on the platforms were it to exist.
I really wish Persona 5 would get a team up like this with Persona 4's gang as adults, we know there's a 5 year gap of time between those 2 games so it would be neat to see the P4 gang all grown up. I thought Phantom strikers would be that game since the whole setup involves the P5 gang traveling Japan, so I expected to see them bump into past characters along the way. Shame that doesn't happen.
The closest we see is Rise since she makes a cameo in P5 but she's not P4 best girl.
Yeah, that definitely would’ve been cool. You could just start a pattern that with each game, where the characters from the last one come back in the sequel.
Persona 6- exist
Persona 6 Epic Sequel- Persona 5 is backkk! :0
Would definitely been cool had they done this for the older games, But I guess P4 is good enough.
Although they didn’t do it for P5, so it probably isn’t gonna happen ever again, sadly.
I’m probably gonna get UMvC3 on steam within the next few days. With so many things on sale, it’s been a little hard to choose what I should get. I’ve already decided I’m gonna get Batman Arkham City, Origins, and Knight. I played Arkham City a lot as a kid and I’ve always wanted to finish the series. Sadly, Asylum isn’t available on my computer, so I can’t get that. Like I said, I’m gonna get UMvC3 instead. It’s dirt cheap. Pretty sure it’s $7.49 (roughly £6.09). How could I refuse something like that?

You're getting your money's worth. Great roster with so many ways to build a good team with some of the best fighting you can have in a fighting game. It is really hard to master and the online is really bad.
EDIT: Double post, somehow. I don't know how that happened.
I really don't get why this attitude seems to be focused on Geno in particular. You don't see people going into the Lloyd Irving thread and saying "Lloyd would be a perfect fit for Smash. ...as a Mii Swordfighter costume, of course" and refusing to listen to any claims that don't support that point of view. Whenever Sora gets brought up as a character that someone wants, you don't see people asking why Sora should even be in Smash, nitpicking every single point that's brought up, and dismissing those points out of hand.
Bringing up the Cacodemon and Mallow Mii hats seems like a guaranteed way to get someone ranting about how the Cacomallow leak is fake, and anyone who believes it (or even thinks that it could possibly be real) is a "delusional moron", and yet other supposed leaks with even less supporting them (like the text leak from 4chan that claimed that a League of Legends character would be added to Smash) aren't met with nearly as much vitriol.
Maybe it's just that the character's popular enough to be seen as "competition" for other characters, given how limited DLC spots are, but I don't recall seeing nearly as much hate directed at Ridley, K. Rool, or even Banjo (who had at least two major competitors from the same company in the form of Steve and Master Chief, both of whom were quite popular, and seemed much less likely than those two despite his history on Nintendo consoles). This sort of attitude seems much more common in the Newcomer Speculation Thread, but I find it strange that it's being directed at Geno of all characters when people are starting to feel optimistic now that we know for sure that spirits can be upgraded.
