Oh, they're actually gonna make the Popeye movie this time, eh? :yoshi:
Really excited for It!

Tarkakovski has made a lot of my favourite animated productions (Samurai Jack, Hotel Transylvania, Dexter's Lab and many more) so I feel positive this movie will be really good!

Tarkakovski was also classically trained by one of the original animators of Popeye, I feel like if anyone deserves to take the wheel, it’s him.

You know I've been seeing more and more people in the entertainment industry as of late raise the argument that "canon doesn't matter" as an excuse for them doing whatever the heck they want with more recent properties.

No matter how many times I see it it always makes me feel kinda offended, not gonna lie. my favorites game series are usually built on years, sometimes decades of continuity and world building and I love seeing how the world's in these series change as the years progress. Same thing in tokusatsu shows when crossovers happen. That's my favorite part of fiction. So it annoys me that some of these writers simply throw that idea to the wayside.

Overreaction? Most likely, but it does annoy me.
Yeah, that's pretty bad, but it's still not as bad as what the Thundercats Roar team did to deflect criticism of their show.

"Perhaps in the future they can put their energy into something more important!"

You lost all credibility in the first damn sentence. So all things should just be taken at face value and never criticized at all? Alright, sounding a lot like Butch Hartman right there.

"And anyone who says otherwise has a poop mouth with poop opinions."

First of all, very classy. So now you're saying that if the opinions don't match up with yours, then they should just be thrown out because they're subjective thoughts are objectively wrong.

Then there's the jab at the reboot people actually liked at the end, just to plunge the knife further into the wound.

And no, I don't even like Thundercats, so I have no real stake other than calling out blatant bull **** here. The creator of Roar has gone on record saying he never liked Thundercats in the first place. So why did you make this project then? To poke fun at it? That's fine, but be transparent about it. This isn't satire, it comes off as being salty that your ripoff of TTG isn't doing well in the ratings because people aren't taking you bashing something they loved well.

Edit: Apparently they also show a character's skeleton who's voice actor died recently? Keep being ****in' classy, CN.

Depending on how long animation usually takes, the VA could’ve been alive and that could’ve been just poor timing on their part, but yeah, agreed on everything else

Samus has had enough of Adam's s**t. (For real though, this animation is amazing!)

And people call me Mr. No Fun.

I didn’t even know John K said that, I don’t follow him. I’m just getting sick of that artstyle.
I like some aspects from the style, though I do feel like it is overused. If you’re going to draw inspiration from it, at least make some alterations to keep things fresh.

Cartoons have been doing this forever. Need I remind you of this gem.
As someone who dabbles in creativity and wants to work in the industry, I can sympathise. They adressed it in the complete wrong way, but I can also empathize with someone who accidentally lets their emotions go too far after the internet pushes them.

The skeleton thing is excusable though. That's horrible.
Chill, I was just making a joke.
No harm no fowl. It's just an icky term made by a very icky man.

I guess, I remember seeing an edit that had the mouth more beak like which even that improved the design greatly

I know you’re joking, I just found that amusing.

Yeah, that skeleton thing is the most poor taste thing I've ever seen in a cartoon.

Like I said, I had no idea he even said that, I’ve just heard it from others describing that kind of style.
I like to call it bean head style, it fits the style better as everyone drawn in it all look like beans.

Also none of the people who use this artstyle went to calarts to begin with lol

So what you’re telling me is that Yobby is canonically married.

Even that is a questionable standard to hold. I care more about the actual arguments than the person holding them. I don't know who John K is and I don't care. If his reasoning for CalArts being bad is sound than it's fair to use. :yoshi:

The only reason I've heard for him (the creator of Ren and Stimpy and currently controversial individual) holding that opinion is that it's "people trying to be like Disney" which I don't even get what he means by that.

The difference being that Animaniacs is incredibly tongue-in-cheek with this kind of thing. They're a mastercraft of satire.

Thundercats Roar does not have the writing or vocal talent needed to pull this off.
