Wow, just checked ebay, those prices are obscene. That's some merch that isn't worth it for me.
From my experience with TCGs, prices vary very heavily. Hell you could go out and buy a single card for $16k(or not be an idiot and spend that money elsewhere)
More likely than not, there probably is too little demand, but too much supply. I've seen it happen over and over: Products get hyped up, but if it bombs, nobody wants it so in order to make a profit sellers rack up the price a ****-ton. Doesn't help that Bushiroad secondary markets tend to be pretty wack because of how obscure they are overall.
I also wouldn't call it merch, but whatever floats your boat.

On another note, Ebay is like the worst place to check for prices, TCGplayer is the end-all-be-all of market prices.

For example:
Screenshot 2020-03-04 at 6.22.33 PM.png

For an extra booster(aka a booster box that contains less cards and is meant to be cheaper) that's a damn bargain If I've ever seen one!

Or how about this:
Screenshot 2020-03-04 at 6.23.43 PM.png

$60 bucks?! for a booster box from a game that naturally has "anime tax"(aka people up the prices simply because it's anime) that's cheap AF!

And lastly

hmm, not much to say about that. It's your standard Bushiroad TD prices.

My point is that Ebay is not a good indicator of the value/market price of an item, especially because Ebay gives incentive to over-value all your crap, which ****s with the idea that stuff will "naturally" go to whatever value the market assigns to it(they take a VERY big portain of any sales you make, trust me I've tried selling stuff before. Anything you sell under like $3 is only gonna make a $1 or $2)

Those are actually more expensive than the prices I saw on ebay.

One thing I really miss is having Breloom.

I hope Breloom come back so I can breed a female one up with Technician and call it Mako.

"Mako, use Bullet Seed!"

If you've used Breloom with Technician before, you know how accurate this is.

If that's the case, holy **** that's cheap af. Most Bushiroad stuff is a tad bit overpriced on TCGplayer(especially the Buddyfight stuff *shudders in $30 Trial Decks*), and yet you say it's cheaper on ebay?

I'm starting to consider saving up and getting into Weiss Schwarz lmao

It is merch, whether it's important to a card game or whatever, it's still merchandise advertising the anime or manga.

And I just can't reasonably pay $60 for a deck of cards like that, when it's really just thin pieces of paper in a cardboard box. If they had some weight or thickness to them like Topps cards or a nice metal tin, then I could consider it, but it isn't meant to be.

What the hell is that glowing thing in the sky?

The sun?

Don't be crazy, there's no such thing as the sun, only eternal rain.

That's fair.

Personally I play card games(and spend ludicrous amounts of money for packs and all that) because I enjoy it. Cards being thick or not has no weight(pun not intended) to me, all I want is to be able to grab my cards, shove them into a deck box, and go out and play.
If anything I prefer cards that strike a nice balance between light to the point of ripping to hard as rock; because nobody outside of collectors are gonna buy a card made out of...say, solid gold or something like that.

Sometimes I wish I got into playing card games, but I'm just too much of a collector at heart.

I like having cards to collect. It is fun to actually play the games with friends but I don't get many opportunities to do that.

Be glad you're not tbh.

It's an expensive as hell hobby if you wanna mingle with the big boys like MtG/YGO/Pokemon.
Yeah, uh...let's just say I've spend over $100 this past year JUST on cards lmao

For me, $100 is a year's worth of waiting, FYI. I only get $5 a week to spend.

100 bucks wont even buy you a budget deck in yugioh anymore.

I can buy 3 entire months worth of groceries for the same price of 3 lightning storm.

I'm not one to play super competitively, actually. For me, just having a deck I can take to locals and do fairly well enough( bonus points if the deck is underused or I tech in a bunch of crap to make it viable) is enough for me. If anything I like to avoid staples over $70 if I can help it, as a little challenge to myself.

Hottake:

Packs of cards are just physical gacha.

You're guaranteed x amount of common junk with the possibly of a rare, or Better

The only difference is you can sell the cards but no ones gonna want your bulk.

I personally don't care if it's a gacha, honestly.

But that's my hottake of the day. Into the abyss I go!

Made some progress in the Hyperbolic Time Chamber. Spider-Man is at 130, Storm's at 126. I'm gonna get her along with Venom and Psylocke to 130 as well to really get my main team swoled up. Only time will tell if the results will be more like Goku and Gohan or like Trunks and Vegeta.

Other than that, I was basically training up other characters like Wolverine, Black Panther, Ghost Spider and Miles. Miles will probably stay in the rotation in case I want to swap Venom out for him, but he's only at like 81 so who knows if I'll go through with it.

My anxiety has grown really strong in the past minutes.

Not gonna say why since the reason can honestly feel odd to other people, but I'll just say It happened at Discord.

God, I hope things do get better for me already.

So a few hours ago I posted some information about the animated series concept I’m working on in the personal projects, I’m probably doing to work on doing some more writing so if anyone is interested in checking out what I posted, I’d appreciate having some questions to answer and bouncing more ideas off of you guys.

Not sure if this Twitter account belongs to any particular user on this forum, but it really puts the Nintendo information drought into perspective:

There was a problem fetching the tweet

Even if we include remakes like Pokemon Mystery Dungeon, since they'd take a significant effort to make, that's only four announced (not even released - announced) titles from Nintendo over the course of an entire year, which seems like an bizarrely small number given the Switch's momentum.

Mind you, I do have a lot of games to work through in my backlog, but I've already beaten a lot of my physical games. Three of my remaining physical games are RPGs, but I don't know how long Astral Chain will be, and Link's Awakening won't take long to beat based on how quickly I got through dungeons 4 and 5.

It's bizarre as hell.

2020 is effectively a year of unknowns as it stands.

Today I tried to take a medicament to cool down my hyperactivity and see if I at least cooled down my energy.

Sadly it had seemingly no effect.

I totally get wanting more news. Especially since we should see something on Bayo 3 and Metroid Prime 4, or the FF DLC. But some people are really irksome about it asking literally everyday.

But this year doesn't have a ton of news on stuff so far, even outside of Nintendo, the consoles coming out this year don't have a ton of games announced just yet, so who knows, maybe X-Box at E3 will really put in that work.

So I get it, at least.

It makes me wonder if it will negatively affect them business-wise if they go much longer without announcing anything. Like, if we hit April without any Direct and we don't get a game for that month, what would they be expecting?
