For lack of a better way to say this: that isn't very high on my priority list right now.
I could give you some anime, though I'm not sure I know any where the male and female are exactly equal in terms of quality.

One Punch Man is one of my favorites. I liked both seasons, though the second one gets mixed reviews.
What I usually is just give a person about my 5 favourite anime for recommendations.
I don’t know. Not to say there shouldn’t be character growth, but it shouldn’t involve putting your character, let alone your child character, through mind bending self inflicted psychological torture. It doesn’t make me want to see him get off his feet and grow stronger, it makes me want to yell at the writers for doing it to him. And even outside this particular situation, don’t you think that story is a little cliche at this point?
Only anime I recommend you watch is the only one I’ve watched all the way through. It’s called Kashimashi: Girl Meets Girl. And it’s.... cute. I actually probably should watch it again, I haven’t watched it since high school.

Super mixed on that anime. It's a great premise and Yusuke Kobayashi ****ing kills it as Senku. Felt there was some pacing issues though.
Nah, I've got a good memory and Google Docs for it as I can sort it out easier.

For my money, the only reason you should feel weird for a pfp is if it's a character you don't relate to. Kinda obvious that my pfps don't bother me, but if we're going by anime standards then you probably won't see me use anime girls. More like this
It's arguably better than having a grown woman who's trapped in the floor as your PFP.

That intro is so peaceful and wholesome it could work as an ASMR if used right.
