Yeah, I dunno. As an aspiring Director and Writer I just want to talk about movies. Good things and bad things but it seems like every time I do I get some disregarding replies that I'm incorrect.

I try to pick apart movies bit by bit to see what makes them tick so I find flaws. It's how I feel like I can become a better artist of my craft. It excites me when I realize, "hey, this didn't quite work, so I know to try to fix that when I make a movie!", and I just want to share that, y'know? But man, it never fails, I always feel like crap after I share it.
The internet doesn’t always seem to know that movies can have flaws and still be worth watching. I mean, all movies have flaws.

Also critique doesn’t automatically mean hostility or negativity.

Nah, don't get me wrong. I'm aware I'm being a bit of a baby about this. I do. But it's just something that I've never been able to do. I'd love to have back and forth conversations about what does and doesn't work in movies but my IRL friends don't care enough and it never seems to be something I can respond to online. This isn't the first time my views on movies has been called trash. It sucks but that's what I almost always get. Trash is a word that just seems to come out when I talk movie critique.

I personally don't care much about movies to really judge others and their opinions. I watch movies to entertain myself, and if they captivate me? Good job. If not, it's not necessarily because they're bad, but maybe a case of just not being the kind of thing that tickles my fancy, because everyone has different tastes and that's fine.

Also, even in my favorite games, I have those parts that I kinda roll my eyes at whenever anticipating their arrival because even things you love can have flaws or things you dislike; nothing is perfect.

Tbf, though, I have a harder time picking out flaws or things I dislike in movies or tv shows than I do with video games. I chalk it up to me being fairly easy to please and kinda zoning out when a lot of information is thrown at me and I can't slow down and process it all.

You ever get a boss down to 1 hp and lose, then proceed to get absolutely floored on your next few attempts?

Does that include egg pooping? Being a Yoshi and all.

Off topic to the crowd but you ever get bored and decide screw it, I'll walk to the next town? About to walk about 10km just for fun.

How would you feel about this roster?
It's pretty good, all things considered. I still don't like the Fantastic Four all together as one character though. Might as well just add Super-Skrull at that point.
What would be an ideal fighter count for a future MvC game? I don’t think it should be near as big as MvC2 as that leads to tons of balancing issues.
No less than 50. But the hard thing would be narrowing down all the important Marvel characters to a number like 25 or 30. I have my own roster where both sides have 35 characters, and there are multiple characters I wanted in, but had to exclude.

Im sorry about earlier.
Im normally not like that; was having a bad night and let my anger get the better of me.
I disagree ofc, but if you feel that way about Joker that's fine.
Don't sweat it, my friend. This is more of a me problem and definitely not a you problem. I should've been more clear on why I feel that way. Kind of went off on a tangent myself for no good reason so for that I'm sorry as well. No hard feelings?

*sees that Marvel vs. Capcom 2 is returning to EVO for 20th Anniversary and finds out Castlevania Season 3 is out on March 5th*

Well excuse me fellas, I'm gonna go lose my mind for a while.

I hope we get Marvel vs. Capcom 4 announced at EVO this year or better yet Nintendo vs. Capcom (Why the **** is this not even a thing?).

I think it's probably more going to be a remake or re-release of Marvel vs. Capcom 2 for modern consoles or a collection of the old Marvel vs. Capcom games to modern consoles. Those games are really hard to find and buy for cheap so it would be a good call to re-release them. The EVO thing is a big deal considering that they needed permission from both Marvel and Capcom to do this in the first place so the fact they are willing to do it is a big deal.

If it ends up being Marvel vs. Capcom 4, I'm gonna be at cloud nine. Nintendo vs. Capcom would also be a dream come true (and I also agree how is this not even a thing yet).

I want them to do for MvC2 what they did for USF2Hyper Fighting. But I guess a re-release would.... suffice.

I could see Marvel 5 getting a logo reveal like when Guilty Gear and KoF got revealed last EVO in the same way.

But honestly I don’t expect anything Marvel for next gen before they get in a Street Fighter entry.

Sakurai says he thinks there are too many FE characters and swords in Smash as well. I'm sure this will start many lovely and civil conversations.

Anyhoo, add in more, Sakurai.

I feel like the roster would be too bloated if you added them all separately, not to mention trying to work out movesets for each member that don’t overlap too much with characters like Ms. Marvel, Hulk/Juggernaut, etc. They’re known for working together as a team most of the time anyways, you rarely if ever see a member working on their own or having their own solo run. It would also make them more unique than the other fighters being four characters in one, at least how I see it.

If Marvel vs. Capcom 4 (if they don't count Infinite) gets revealed, I think they should at least show a little bit of the art style. Infinite was immediate polarization because of the visual art style so a good way to at least quench some of the worries of people would be, now that I think about it, two things:

-Showcasing the art style of the game and hopefully improve upon it. Considering how relatively popular the GG art style is, I won't be surprised if they use a bit of the style.

-Teasing Wolverine and the X-Men with claw swipes by the start or the ending of the trailer.

As long as they don’t overbloat it with X-Men, I’m all for them returning.

And as for the art style... don’t hate me but I actually prefer Infinite’s look. Well, an imaginary more polished version of infinite’s look. The cell shading and the thick black lines always just rubbed me the wrong way. It was great for making it so the realistically proportioned marvel characters didn’t clash with the cartoonish Capcom ones.... but I still don’t think it did the Marvel ones much justice. Like, nobody complains about Injustice or the Arkham games or Spider-Man PS4 not looking like comic books. And I think if they had more time to polish it, nobody would have really complained.

Thats something that can be said about infinite as a whole IMO. It had the makings of a great game, with one of the best combat systems in the series, but so much of.... everything else..... was rushed because Marvel wanted it to compete with Injustice 2. Which is really a shame imo.

TLDR, I’d rather keep the more realistic art style over any sort of cell shading or what ArcSys does.

Agreed. That's actually one of my issues with Marvel 2's roster. It's essentially X-Men vs Street Fighter 2.0. Marvel 3 in my opinion found a good balance for both sides of the roster which is why I still think it's the best roster in Marvel vs. Capcom just by variety. Just take the UMvC3 roster, add in the newcomers from MvC:I with some new characters (Asura, Gene, Leon, Gill, Nero, Blade, Moon Knight, Vision, Loki, Star-Lord as examples) and some veterans from Marvel 2 (Jin Saotome, Hayato, Captain Commando, Psylocke, Gambit, Blackheart as examples) and boom.

Throw in the newcomers they were developing for Infinite’s DLC that got scrapped (Gill, Lady, Asura, Rashid, Star-Lord, Khamala Kahn, Daredevil, Gene (God Hand), Green Goblin, Apollo Justice, Regina (Dino Crisis), Nina (Breath of Fire), and Deis (Breath of Fire)) and you’ve got yourself a deal.

Ooo oooo! You know how past games have had a mode that let you play as the boss? Bring that back but with ALL the bosses from across the series in a Boss vs Boss mode! Apocalypse, Onslaught, Abyss, Galactus, Ultron Sigma/Omega, all that!

No way. We don’t need a tonne of Spider-Clones. MAYBE in a dedicated Marvel-only fighting game. But in a crossover like this, everyone should be as unique as possible. Make Miles a skin for Peter with his own voice lines if you have to.
So if they gave Miles a completely different moveset and playstyle from Peter, you still wouldn’t think he’s unique?

I think if we got a new mvc game, a good starting point would be the size of Marvel Vs Capcom 3's roster, then extending it more to what UMVC3 had later down the line and maybe more. Ofc a lot of fighters will get cut but that's what they gotta do to get the good picks.

Indeed! That would be awesome to have where you could play as all the bosses from all the games. In fact, I think Ultron Sigma and even Apocalypse should be hidden unlockable characters akin to Shadow Lady or Red Venom. Make them purposefully OP for the sake of having fun with them. The others should be placed in their own mode.

I think Heroes and Heralds from UMvC3 could be expanded upon. Hell, that could be it's own miniature arcade or Story Mode if done well.

EDIT: I also just realized how similar Spirits in Ultimate are in concept to Heroes and Heralds in UMvC3...interesting.

It’s the Fire Emblem/Shoto problem. No matter how unique they play, they’re still gonna feel samey because the theme is already covered.

Seriously. You really want a fighting game with “SPIDER-MAN” and “SPIDER-MAN”.
