Yeah, that’s true. Which is surprising since I only just came back to the smash scene recently (Like a few days ago) and maybe it’s not that it’s draining me and more like I realized a bit more of the problems of the casual Smash community. They don’t seem to stop.

It's honestly more a problem with the internet in general. Everyone's got an opinion, and they have to be "right" about it. Heck, I've fallen into that mindset a lot.

It's super unfortunate, but it's how things are. I hope we can all just calm down, but TBH I doubt that'll be the case anytime soon knowing the Smash fandom.

Okay. But I will say this. I said it before. But it’s like adding a Shoto to Street Fighter. No matter how differently they play, if your not a fan of them, they’re all gonna feel redundant.

Like, I frequently forget that Ike’s not a clone. And the only reason I don’t with Robin and Corrin is the book and the rage.

I just don’t feel like I can talk about not liking things. Because people always ask for reasons. And if I say anything other then “personal preference”, like say why it doesn’t align with my personal preference, or mention that it’s personal preference every 5 words, then people keep trying to tear down and invalidate those reasons until I’m angry. Like there’s no reason to not like something other then “just because”.

It's fine to not like something.

The series isn't my cup of tea either.


But we've all done this song and dance a million times over.


Characters don't steal slots, if we were going to get a Fire Emblem character, we were gonna get one. This roster is going to have close to 90 characters when it's done, if Fire Emblem having a lot of characters bothers you, then that's really your own issue.


If we 'do' end on 90, and that's close to a possibility with the 4 remaining slots in WoL that are currently unused after the 2nd pass, Fire Emblem won't even take up 1/10th of the roster.

Not really. I like all the Mishima's and Heihachi is slowly become my 2nd favorite next to Jin. Kazuya would be fine too. It'd be like if they chose Mega Man Volnutt to get the Chrom treatment instead of MMX. Not my first choice, but it's all good either way I feel.

Better yet. They went with Ken instead of Akuma. I like Ken, but I would have preferred Akuma.

If it has to be that way, then make the slot a revolving door. Keep Marth and Ike for nostalgia and gameplay, and then the third slot is for this weeks new generic FE protagonist. Don’t keep them around piling up till there’s 8 of them.

But then this game wouldn't be "EVERYONE IS HERE." It's kind of the whole point to bring back everyone. If that wasn't the goal of the game, we probably wouldn't have Pichu or Young Link either, but they are here too. The next title will probably cut some of them anyway, and swap out 1 for a newer FE character.

For a split second I thought you were talking about the VeggieTales character and I was like “the **** does he have to do with it”.

And it’s the same reason I want Injusticd to limit Batman characters or Marvel vs Capcom to limit X-Men characters. If one part of a crossover gets disproportionately big, then it throws the whole crossover idea out of wack.

*****. The only MvC game that had a surplus of X-Men was Marvel 2. Marvel Infinite didn't even have any at all. It did the opposite with MCU shilling that even ****ed the the visuals and music of the game. But even then, it's not like adding Ultron or Black Panther were bad ideas. Now that Marvel's got their head out of their ass. Maybe when ever Marvel 4 happens, the Roster will be spread out like MVC1 and 3. Who knows.

Mario and Pokemon got a lot of stuff in Smash too. The most stages. Mario, the Most songs. Mario. Most people accept it and move on.

I'll admit that even I think FE getting more characters is boring, but it's not that big of a deal.

Kinda hard to tell without context. I live in a world where some blokes actually attempted murder against a voice actor in a video game.

Not entirely. The hack n slash wasn’t invented till the PS2. I like action. I’m overweight and unathletic. I can always go out and explore be it the city or the forests in my own home town. I can manage assets and figure out when is the best time to use what resource by selecting items on menus in real life. But what I’ll never be able to do is parkour up the side of a castle or beat people in 1 on 1 fights, or feel super powerful as I hack and slash through waves of demons. I play games to feel powerful. I play games to feel strong. But I also like a strong character with a defined personality so I can have joy pretending to be her. I love a good story that helps me really get invested in the world I’m inserting myself into. That’s what I want. Obviously it all couldn’t come in the same game, but I’m not asking for that.

It’s so crushing to see a game with a cool looking world and a gripping story, but the world is open and the combat is super simple (like dark souls). The lack of good platformers that are about testing your skill at platforming and not exploration is heart breaking. And it’s always bittersweet when a game fulfills one of my gameplay loves, but looses strength in narrative by including silent/customizable avatar characters. Ironically the more a character is a blank slate “player insert” character the less I can put myself in there shoes. I can be me every day. But I’ll never be bayonetta.

And I don’t want my likes to be everything we get. Because the only person I wish the way I feel right now on is the current president. I don’t want less of what I don’t want. I want more of what I do.

Well. GameMaker Studio costs money that I don't have. So looks like I'll have to see if I can figure out Open Beats of Rage. Probably won't but I at least have to try. I don't want to have to make the games myself, but If that's what I have to resort too.

With the inclusion of Byleth, I've been wondering something. What state in developement was Three Houses even at when Sakurai considered choosing them for the Fighters Pass? I've also wondered this for Astral Chain and how did the decision of making a Spirit Board Event for the game come through.

I'm not gonna start any crazy theories, but Monster Hunter feels like its time came and went with the base game.



Unless they decide later down the line to remove "Vs.Rathalos" from "Other" to a dedicated Monster Hunter series, which is doable certainly, but we've yet to see a song move from "Other" to a dedicated series afaik, unless I'm missing something.

He's come into battle packing a sword, a deadly spear and a hefty battle axe for close quarters, but instead he decides to spin Claude's bow around like he's Pit.

Imagine if they went all the way with the whole "each weapon for each direction" thing and made him slap an opponent with his bow for his jab.

I can't take it anymore. I know I'm beating a dead pile at this point, what with this topic having been regurgitated over and over again, but I can't hold it in anymore, so I apologize for going on repeat with this.
I have no idea why Nintendo or the Smash development team seem to keep overlooking female characters for inclusion when other companies and fighter development teams seem to be more inclusive. I get it, the vast majority of gaming icons are male, I get that, but there are a number of female characters that would be perfect additions to Smash but will never have a realistic chance of ever getting in. What with yet another RPG-Fire Emblem character-avatar swap character being added, I would say to those of you wanting 2B, DVA, Aloy, Tracer, Lara Croft, Sylvanas or Cassandra from Assassin's Creed Odyssey in Smash, don't hold your breath. It's now been over 4 years since Bayo was the last character added to Smash WIIU/3DS, and we still don't have any new female characters joining the roster that weren't echo fighters or avatar swaps. The way things are going, with over 80 characters on the roster, only 8will be exclusively female, not counting avatar swaps/echo fighters (and 4 of the 8 are the same people-Samus/Zero Suit Samus, and Zelda/Sheik), whereas Mortal Kombat 11 has 10 female fighters on its roster of 31 fighters presently, and then Street Fighter V has 40 characters on its roster with 13 female characters on it. I don't know what on earth I can say.
There, there's my rant for the night, I'm sorry to bore with this subject again, but I had to let it out. Have a good night.

If I remember correctly, there was actually an interview with the Monster hunter devs and were originally approached with the prospect of a character slot but thought Rathalos as an enemy/general monster would represent the series far better than the self insert hunter character like what MvCI got. Which makes sense, the monsters are what the series is about. I much prefer Rathalos in this way, as well. I'll edit this post when I find what I'm thinking of

Really? Maybe I'm remembering wrong or maybe it's changed in the past few years but I thought it was a freemium tool (free, but you pay for extra features). I seem to rmember the free version being perfectly serviceable.
