This is 100% bull****

staindgrey staindgrey
Watch the TV series not the movies
You literally miss out on some important moments with Amuro and the white base crew

Just watch it how its meant

Gundam 0079 > Zeta Gundam > ZZ Gundam > CCA
After that you can watch any Gundam series you like. Most Gundam show including the AU one's share concepts and parallels to OG UC stuff hence why you should watch all off the early UC stuff first.

I suggest watching Turn A as its probably my fav next to 0079. However be reminded Turn A is like BOTW in which it takes place around 5000-10000 years after the UC and its technically the ending of Gundam.

Also dont listen to people who say Victory and ZZ Gundam is bad. They are 100% wrong.
It is not '100% bull****'.
There are many reasons to recommend the movie trilogy over the original TV series, especially in the context of showing the series to a new viewer. You're right to say that one misses out on some good moments should one choose the films over the series; the loss of episode 22 (the one I imagine you're referring to when you talk about 'some important moments with Amuro and the white base crew') is sorely missed as it's an excellent episode, as well as the loss of other parts such as Operation Odessa (which whilst not a great episode, does convey the importance of the battle better than the film...though not seeing Odessa in full arguably works in a viewers favour considering how heavily Odessa has been retconned over the years).

However I strongly feel that these losses are not comparable to the multitude of gains that are made in the compilation. The films are augmented with far superior animation (A Baoa Qu is orders of magnitude better in the films than in the series), improving the overall pacing (though I will concede there is some rather choppy editing in the middle of movie II), cutting much of the sillier elements from the series that really didn't fit the tone (removing stuff like the Gundam hammer & javelin and giving Hayato a Guncannon for the trip back up to space rather than having him still use the Guntank) and finally toning down the 'monster of the week' formula the series had in the earlier episodes in favour of something more serialised.

There is no 'right way' to watch the original Gundam when choosing between the TV series and the films, they're both masterpieces and there certainly are good reasons to prefer the TV series over the films, however it is my strong opinion that the film trilogy is better for new viewers (at least those whom are not so well versed in the idiosyncrasies of late 70's anime) and due to it removing a lot of the elements that Tomino only begrudgingly added simply to get the show made, feels closer to the original vision for the series.

Everything else you say is 100% agree with though. Release order is certainly the best way to experience the original Gundam saga; everything that came afterwords is build on it either narratively or thematically so getting that done first is the best thing to do as everything else can approached as one likes. ZZ is a good series, it's just hard to recommend because it gets off to such a poor start but if one can make it past the first 20 episodes they'll find a really good show. Victory Gundam is a masterpiece and part of the franchise I've only come to appreciate more and more as time goes by; it's probably my second favourite Gundam series now as it successfully communicates the madness of war in a way I've yet to see any other anime do.

I actually really meant ep 14 where Amuro has to slowly remove the bombs planted on the gundam by himself to avoid casualties. That ep really makes it clear that the white base crew became Amuro's new "family".

However I strongly feel that these losses are not comparable to the multitude of gains that are made in the compilation. Fair enough but I dont see anything wrong with the TV versions pacing and animation

I actually loved ZZ from the start.
It was wacky fun Tomino like his other shows, Xabungle and Daitarn 3.

Started to do a bit more dialogue/scene writing for my Paper Mario game. Let me know what you guys think. This is a bit of a long one, just a warning.
(Peach and the magic pencil Sketch wanders through the desert kingdom.)
?: HEADS UP!
:ultpeach:: “!” (pulls out parasol and blocks incoming tennis ball)
?: “LITERAL HEADS UP!”
:ultpeach:: “!” (pulls out parasol and blocks incoming Dry Bones head)
:ultpeach:: “Oh dear!” (picks up Dry Bones head and dusts it off) “I’m sorry about that, sir. Are you hurt?”
DB: “Yeah I’m okay.” “...I think.” “This would probably be much worse if I still had flesh.”
(Dry Bones body walks up to her. Peach hands him back his head though I think this could be a humerus spot for a “Yes or No” choice to get it back.)
DB: “Thank you. Say, aren’t you Princess Peach of the Mushroom Kingdom?”
:ultpeach:: “Why yes, I am. I’m surprised I’m known all the way out here.”
DB: “That’s because the Princess here never stops talking about you.”
(Suddenly a Princess on skates appears)
:ultdaisy:: “Hey Tib! Did you get the ball back?” “Oh yeah and your head too?” “!” (notices :ultpeach:) “NO WAY! IT CAN’T BE!! PEACH!!” (Barrels off towards the unprepared princess)
:ultpeach:: “W-wait a second Daisyyyyy!” (gets quickly scooped up by the excited princess, leaving behind the book she was using to carry the magic pages she found which was picked up by Sketch. Tib dodges our of the way. The two speed through the background and foreground on pure momentum with Daisy hugging and talking about how much she missed her while Peach panics and begs her to stop before finally opening her parasol to slow themselves down.)
:ultdaisy:: “Heh heh, sorry about that.”
:ultpeach:: (sighs) “It’s good to see you too, Daisy.”
:ultdaisy:: “This is a nice surprise, normally you call me or send an invite, so what’s our event on this time? Wait! Lemme guess. Since we had or tennis and go-kart tournaments a while back, are we going golfing this time?”
:ultpeach:: “Uh no, that’s no why I’m here.”
:ultdaisy:: “Oh, are we doing more party games?”
:ultpeach:: “No.”
:ultdaisy:: “Baseball?”
:ultpeach:: “No!”
:ultdaisy:: “Soccer?”
:ultpeach:: “NO!”
:ultdaisy:: “...horseback riding?”
:ultpeach:: “DAISY!!”
:ultdaisy:: “Okay okay, I’ll stop, but can I just ask a quick question?”
:ultpeach:: “Sure. Go ahead.”
:ultdaisy:: “Why is there a floating pencil and book behind you?”
:ultpeach:: “That’s-kinda why I’m here, could we talk more inside your castle?”
:ultdaisy:: “Sure thing.”
:ultpeach:: (goes inside castle with Scribble)
:ultdaisy:: “This should be interesting.” (Follows her)
Tib: “...so are we putting the match on hold?”

I always imagine the 4 Heroes from Dragon Quest mocking Cloud and pick on him all the time due to him having little representation. (due to 2 songs/spirits and being an edgy emo. Also FF7, the one everyone hates so much instead of representing the other Final Fantasy sequels and previous games.)

And then they bond over the fact that they can’t understand anyone else in the game because none of the five of them speak any English.

And speak for yourself about hating FF7. For many people it is THE final fantasy and sticks out in people’s memories the other entries do not.

I'd say it comes pretty close to matching the humor and wit of the writing from the actual games. Definitely approve of the way you're handling the banter between Peach and Daisy, as any attempt of giving those two "characters" more...character (Peach moreso than Daisy, but still), is absolutely welcome in my book.

Fun stuff.

I mean if you can go by the logic that the since most of the characters are from Japanese companies and by proxy can speak/understand Japanese, the only one that would have trouble understanding them would be :ultbanjokazooie:.

...The ****? Final Fantasy VII is pretty much the most beloved and popular game in the series, so I can assure you that this "hate" you're speaking of is simply from a very vocal minority.

And Cloud isn't "emo" in the game.

Thank you! I stand by that Peach in the Paper Mario universe is definitely the best iteration of the character and I wanted to do the both of them justice regardless. Part of the reason I made Daisy a partner is because I think she’d translate well in the PM style of writing and I hope to get as much mileage out of this dynamic as I can.

Alright. Spicy hot take time.

I DON'T despise Raid Shadow Legends Ads. While I do not plan on getting the game, and it looks like just another stereotypical P2W RPG, I don't think that they are as bad as people make them out to be.

Just so we're clear, the ads aren't good. But, they are better than these types of ads:

Any ads made by Voodoo are 100% worse than getting a Raid Shadow Legends ad. In my opinion, of course. (I don't know if Idle Grass Cutter is by Voodoo or no). The point is, the ads with the randomly generated text above P2W gameplay are the trueproblems within adspace at the moment, even if Raid Shadow Legends has a very aggressive marketing goal.

I...am curious where you have gotten that impression of FF fans with VII, 'cause it is actually the direct opposite: FF7 is the golden game in many players' eyes.

Right. He’s actually kind of a jokester. It’s only Advent Children where he’s emo (for understandable reasons)

That type of thing triggers me. This is why guys you have adblocker and on mobile, browser that blocks ads.

Let’s hope that jokester part of him translates over to the remake more.
Honestly, the opening sequence with the train and the nano reactor are the edgiest part of the game for him. And considering that’s most of what we’ve seen in the marketing, I think it’s safe to say that will likely make the jump. Spider-Man PS4 proved that a jokester can have plenty of serious moments.

I just can’t wait to see the cross dressing scene in full HD. And PLEASE let that costume be an unlockable extra so I can play in it full time.

A big reason why I'm excited for Remake is because the writers remembered that Cloud was a sarcastic asshole starting out. Hell, the writing seems really solid in general from what I've noticed so far.

Sorry I've been inactive, the flu's kinda gotten better but tension headaches are arising. Trying to stay hydrated and take medication to deal with it. I'll watch the Pokemon direct tomorrow so I can join the conversation after. This still kinda sucks ass but I'll deal.

Raid Shadow Legends didn't become a meme because of the game itself, it's because its actively sponsoring a lot of Youtube channels so a lot of youtubers are spending a good portion of their videos talking about it early in the video. Ad blocker won't protect you from that.
