Man, I think I've come to realize after trying a bunch of fighting games out I'm just...not a fighting game guy. I think Smash is honestly the only one I really enjoy that much. I've tried most of the big names, but nah, they just ain't for me.

I like the idea of playing a fighting game, but TBH outside of Smash I haven't found one that clicks with me. Maybe I'll try out some of the Arc System Works ones at some point; they might be a little more my thing given I love the art style they use in most of their games.
I can definitely relate. I enjoy some traditional fighting games like FighterZ and Marvel Vs. Capcom because I'm a fan of the properties involved, but the actual gameplay rarely engages me much. I think the focus on jumping in Smash makes movement feel less restrictive, and combos/circles are difficult to pull off when you're frustrated in the heat of the moment.

High level Smash play can be just as intense as traditional fighting games, if not more, but I at least find the fundamentals easier to grasp.

I'm 100% certain Cara Liss wrote those entries, she would definitely be the hack scientist to make up bullcrap just to pass off her hodgepodge abominations as real life species.
Even ignoring the fossils, dex entries raise too many red flags to take them at 100% face value:

See, any Ghost Pokemon.

Also Wademan94 Wademan94 I don't think you could have Paper Mario's neutral special be a Partner move because that complicates the Kirby hat. Neutral Bs basically have to be simple moves to accommodate for Kirby.

I was just gonna have Kirby stick with just one of the attacks like the Goomba’s Multibonk attack.

The characters are actually a big thing for me. I have to like the characters or world in a game, and if neither of those click for me, it really can be a deal breaker.

Mechanics are of course, the most important as well. 2D fighters like MVC and SF can be really fun to me, but I gotta admit after fiddling with it, I don't think I'm a fan of Tekken's system at all. Seems too convoluted for me. Honestly, I think a lack of time is my biggest problem with them: I just don't have the time to learn the fundamentals of most hardcore fighters when I also like playing other genres too. It's just probably gonna be one of those genres that always looks interesting to me, but I know I'll probably never touch all that much, lol.

Tekken is easily one of the most difficult fighters to learn. It's sort of astonishing that it's one of the most popular fighting series after Smash despite that.

I think traditional fighters were easier to play casually back in the arcade days when you and a buddy or some other rando could just button mash and have a good time. You were less likely to run into a pro player unless you intentionally hung out in those circles. Nowadays you go online and you just get bodied by people who already have the game down to a science and it's just frustrating and you feel like quitting.

It's probably a similar experience for people who are new to Smash, which I've played diligently since the N64 days (though if I'm honest with myself I feel like I only ever got decent at it with Smash 4 and especially Ultimate), but I think by design it's a lot easier to mess around and have fun in.

Yeah, that's kind of how I feel, ha ha. Smash is just easier to jump right in with and mess around and have a good time with. It's also always had some pretty fun singleplayer diversions to play with if you're like me and can't play with people very often.

Never watched S2, but I enjoyed S1.

The OP song kicks ass.
I’ve never watched One Punch Man at all, since I like to look at animes that aren’t mainstream or recognized as easy. Usually the quiet ones are the ones I tend to pick up.

I heard that S2 is a little different in terms of S1 because of the switch between staff from S1 to S2 for the animation. I’m pretty sure that it’s going to be noticeable once you finish S2.

I was just concerned because it’s number is later on in the dex. Ideally I’d want to try to catch one as soon as possible.

Although I wish there was a way to get it to not hate you.
You can catch the first form right before gym 3, so it’s not that late

So, what's everyone's favorite game this year? Mine without a doubt has got to be Luigi's Mansion 3. The Luigi's Mansion series has always been one of my most favorite things ever, and 3 is literally everything I've ever wanted Luigi's Mansion to be. I'm honestly not sure how they could top this one.

probably Pokémon

I know I know. But it gave me the warm fuzzies like only Pokémon can for me. I was considering three houses but as much as I loved it, I didn’t get into it as much as everyone else did. It was too long for me, to be completely honest. Great game though.

If I’m ranking the game I had the most fun with this year...the answer would be Smash. If we’re ranking the game I had the most fun with this year that came out this year, I gotta be honest and go with Pokémon.

OPM is my fourth favorite anime. Season 2 gets a lot of hate for the animation not being as good, but the season's still pretty good from what I've seen so far.

Oooh, yeah, I really wanna play that one at some point! I keep hearing great things about it and honestly kick myself for ignoring it earlier this year, ha ha.
Its an AMAZING game. However, don't play it in one sitting take like a month break while playing it.

WAIT, IS THIS A COMEDY
Yes and no.

The whole deal of OPM is that Saitama kinda regrets being strong but at the end of the day, who else is gonna be there to save the day so that there is an end of the day... at the end of the day?

Speaking as someone who grew up with Tekken, I personally found combo timing and movement a bit easier than SF and KOF. On top of this, quite a lot of the characters' movesets don't majorly rely on inputs like QCF, SRK, ect. though they do exist. Like, you could do a pretty good job with Nina without using her slide, or King using command grabs that aren't Giant Swing. And there's a ton of baked in strings in Tekken making it easier to grasp. Not to mention it being a 4 button game that's limb based and not strength based.

I have trouble in SF getting proper combos, but I have a good handle on Special Moves.

Granted, I like quite a few fighters in general, but I think for reasons like that is why Tekken's so popular. The skill floor is a lot lower than it seems, even if the skill ceiling is as high as SF/KOF/MK/KI.

ONE is a damn good story-teller, even though his art isn't the best.

The story of Garou is one of my favorite in manga history, even if the guy who's redrawing the series hasn't gotten close to that part yet. But for those who are catching up to it and don't want to read the webcomic, it's a ****ing blast.

Real talk, if not for Luigi, Pokemon probably would be my favorite game this year. Like, I know it has its quirks, but it's just so much fun, and all the QoL features they introduced was stuff I'd been hoping for for years.

Oh yeah, some more big ones for me were Tales of Vesperia Definitive Edition and Dragon Quest XI S. FANTASTIC games that are really easy recommends from me.

I was watching a Youtube video that has a really amazing idea. Basically, you take a Pokedex entry, google translate it until unrecognizable, and make a new Pokemon based on what you got. It's a really neat creative exercise, the two fakemon I made using it are pretty cool (one far more intresting than the other). Here are the prompts, feel free to guess on what they look like, I'll post them when I'm done.
PokemonRisikodon_Inspiration.PNG

(originally Kabuto's Gen 4 entry, which is "It is thought to have inhabited beaches 300 million years ago. It is protected by a stiff shell")
PokemonLenghlace_Inspiration.PNG

(originally Duralduron's Sword entry, which is "Its body resembles polished metal, and it's both lightweight and strong. The only drawback is that it rusts easily. ")
as for the final regional starter.... i'm down to two. I might make a poll on it.
