Luigi's Mansion 3 has ended up a lot more challenging than I thought it would, lol. Game starts off pretty easy, but it's got a nice difficulty curve to it. I find that certain boss fights are taking me a few tries before figuring out and some puzzles and hidden gems are really clever; this game really is the definitive Luigi's Mansion in my eyes. Probably gonna end up in my top 3 Switch games too.

That said, forget the boss on floor 11. That thing was a surprising difficulty spike, and abused a mechanic I'm terrible at in games. :p
Take note Star Fox Adventures, THAT'S how you make 3-Card Monty difficult :yoshi:

No one told you to like Star Wars.
I don't care for Star Wars either. Hell, I'm not even that into the MCU like that. But instead on focusing on what I don't like, think about hype ****.

I really, really liked Maximum Carnage, I didn't scan any pages from it yet. But there's a lot of cool moments. Suffice to say when the hero(Spider-Man) pulls some Reverse Anime Villain tech(There's an explosion and He's still standing), it's the coolest thing ever. And I've been reading Moon Knight's Original run in the 1980's. Cool **** so far. There's a LOT of cool pages for the time too. Marc's nuts. But the fact that he's trying to be a better dude despite his past and overall brooding attitude makes me like the character. He also looks sick.

Really interesting page layouts.

Looks like the copyright is owned by the game’s director and film’s producer, Juzo Itami. Thanks for providing me that image. Helps to have multiple sources.

Also glad that it’s just a guy who owns the trademark and not a large corporation. Generally speaking, licensing from single individuals is easier then licensing from corporations.

****.

Wonder if there’s some way to dig through Japanese copyright registration. That info is supposed to be public knowledge right?
Only thing I know about Japan copyright is that it’s apparently compliant with the Berne Convention.

Which is 50 years after an authors death

Cinematography works apparently last 70 years after death of the author?

Studying Media Law and they only discuss U.S. copyright so someone with more knowledge could explain?

So.... the copyright is still registered to him until roughly 2067?

How do you license something from a dead guy?

I... think so? I got the info from Wikipedia so it might be outdated.

Again I only studied U.S. Copyright lengths and terms so international copyright isn’t my specialty.

Random fact: There is no “universal” copyright. Things copyrighted in one area are public domain in another. Want to make your own James Bond novel copyright free? Head to Canada as he is public domain there!

Edit: Can I just say I hate autocorrect?

The Mandalorian is fantastic so far. Haven't gotten to watch episode three of it yet but it's an awesome ride.

I have spoken.
Same, I never watched the movies but I love the mandalorian so much I might just start, but the only thing that would get me super excited is if Disney announced an R rated Darth Vader show.
They would never do that but let me dream

Good thing that it will be in public domain in Japan (the only place it was ever even registered) by the time Disney lets Capcom make another MvC.

While we’re on this topic, what’s the consensus on the current copyright status for Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer? Specifically the Rankin-Bass special.

For reference:
F02136E1-29A0-4D6D-B052-BDE9D5CB0F3E.png

This only covers content that isn’t Rudolph, Santa/his reindeer, and the songs. So a scene with just Hermey would fall here but not “We are Santa’s Elves” (Santa and his reindeer are public domain so they aren’t applicable and the character Rudolph/original songs are still under copyright)

Fun fact: The guy who wrote those Roman numerals didn’t know how they worked. So he accidentally wrote 1164 and not 1964. So under US copyright law the way it functioned at the time, Rudolph and all the content in the special has been in public domain for about 800 years. All because of a typo.

That’s why you see so many Rudolph knockoffs and commercials that use the films specific elements and designs.

I specifically mentioned that the character Rudolph is not in public domain. He’s a separate trademark and copyright.
Additionally the songs in the special were separately copyrighted so yeah... who wants to make the adventures of the Dolly for Sue?

I’m gonna hit the hay but since I’m on the Rudolph topic... have a badly edited song:
I wonder if moving the special off CBS (in the U.S. at least) will impact if this version stays or goes...
