Tbh, I feel like Brawl Pokemon Trainer is actually one of the absolute worst designed characters in the frachise. They wanted him to feel like a Pokemon game, in that you wanted mix and match Pokemon to cover advantages and disadvantages, as well as pick the ine best suited for the match, but the way they did it was all wrong. The stamina system killed it hard, as then it meant switching to a mon that may not have the upper hand in that matchup, and it undermined the main tatic of Pokemon itself, being that you stick with your guns and only switch if one is in a bad situation. Also, changing was so slow, and I know that's on the technical aspect, but effectively, you were punished for wanting to gain an advantage if any. On top of that, 2/3 were utter garbage, and Squirtle had to carry the team hard, making the stamina system even more pointless than it already is, and with the tyoe effectiveness, Ivysaur had like, no advantages in the slightest.
Conversly, I feel like Ultimate Trainer is actually amongst the best designed characters, because they actually took the time to streamline hus main mechanic, and it actually felt like a Pokemon game, where you can switch if you want to, or you could commit to one mon and ride it out.
Yeah.
