Cloud and the Heroes not having English VAs for Smash doesn't bother me as much as I thought it would. I would've appreciated having them, but it's no big deal if we're stuck with the Japanese VAs.

Actually, it bothers me more that Mewtwo doesn't speak like he does in Japan. It would've been really cool since we currently have only one Pokemon who talks like they did in the anime.

Sure, a leaker says it’s happening. But this reminds me of the Granblue leak with Hitagi, with a character coming in from a series most people don’t know well. It’s just...jarring, and would be especially crazy if this originally the “last” Smash character.

If you're worried about it being a grand finale, I don't think Ryu Hayabusa fits that either tbh.

I still think the best "grand finale" would be a Dark Souls character, maybe even DoomSlayer. But because there's more DLC coming, I don't think he's concerned with there being a "grand finale".

No character really makes for a grand finale because everyone has different wants and priorities

Looking deeper, it doesn't bother me in english as Hero doesn't even do anything other than grunt unless you set the language to japanese. But Cloud, his taunts, victory animations, when his limit gauge fills, he says things that aren't move names. I want to know what he's saying without having to learn Japanese.

Honestly, if he was just contacting remixed for her NOW then she would not be character 5. Grant Kirkhope said Nintendo contacted him in January when Banjo released in September. At the very least, she would be an “early next year” character. At most, she’d be around June or July.

While I agree with your point(Touhou being really obscure makes it a weird pick) I definitely disagree with the elitism and anger from this post.

It’s still not the same.

Look. I get that it’s not a big deal. But when modders can do it with archive audio... I feel like nintendo has no excuse. Sure, they’d still have to pay the guy, but not nearly as much as if they actually had him come in and do new lines.

Heck. I’d probably even pay extra for an English dub of cloud’s voice.

I find it funny how people still go "absolutely 0% chance". Like... have you even looked at Smash Ultimate? We got a damn Sans costume which looks as good as a proper character. Not to mention Shovel Knight is an Assist Trophy. And those are western indies to boot.
And on the fighter's side we got not only Snake back, but also Simon with a Richter clone and a pretty big music selection, despite Konami being, well... Konami. Same goes for Cloud and not only one, but four different DQ heroes, despite S-E being known for being quite stingy. They also collaborated with Microsoft for Banjo, a direct rival in the console market.

So many people in the past claimed that "*character* is impossible", only to get proven wrong later. You'd think at one point they'd finally learn, yet history keeps repeating itself over and over again. Never count your chickens before they hatch, especially with unpredictable Ultimate has been.
