In what world are platformers a niche genre? Certainly not this world, where Mario exists.
Platformers are a niche genre and any platformer that's not called Banjo Kazooie, Glover, or Bubsy 3D is even more obscure. I don't know why insecure Mario fans are so desperate to act like Red-Cap Stalin is a household name and that anyone who doesn't know who he is is ignorant.

It's always so lame when people hold up a character for their "historical value" or because they represent a particular company or genre. They'll take the boring, generic character over the interesting or popular one just for the sake of a roster that they think is "correct".

The harsh reality is that Nintendo is dead, Super Mario has never been mainstream, and unless you are a platformer junkie or Japanese, the only reason you might have even heard of Mario is because of memes.

Came up with an MonsterVerse headcanon.

More Titans exist in the MonsterVerse. They were more resistant to King Ghidorah's call as Mothra and Kong were.

-Titanus Burrunjor (Australia)
-Titanus Chupacabra (Puerto Rico)
-Titanus Cyclops (Greece)
-Titanus Griffin (Iran)
-Titanus Jersey Devil (New Jersey)
-Titanus Jormungandr (Scandinavia)
-Titanus Kasai Rex (Africa); This is Gorosaurus
-Titanus Mapinguari (South America)
-Titanus Ogopogo (Canada)
-Titanus Quetzalcoatl (Mexico)
-Titanus Sasquatch (Canada)
-Titanus Sobek (Egypt); This is Titanosaurus
-Titanus Thunderbird (Missouri)
-Titanus Wendigo (Canada)
-Titanus Yeti (Tibet)
-Titanus Yowie (Australia)

Just to list a few who has been the inspiration for many beings in mythology and cryptids spawning many legends being passed on by the locals or indigenous people. The same goes for the Titans who weren't featured such as Titanus Yamata-no-Orochi, Titanus Bunyip and Titanus Mokele Mbembe.

Also Titanus Sasquatch, Titanus Yeti and Titanus Yowie are relatives to the Titanus Kong species.

They can also backfire. I remember when Chik-Fil-A was protested awhile back and it was a big deal. It used to be not as popular but after the protest their was a boost in customers and their lines became backed up even though people were protesting against chikfila.
Yeah, that's often an unfortunate side effect. But in my eyes it's better to at least try.

Depends of your definition of working I guess. That location if just gone. The company hasn't changed it's ways.
It's part of a bigger movement. The article also says Chik-Fil-A lost some contracts for franchises in airports because of political pressure. The idea is over time, the company will decide that not donating money to anti-LGBT causes will be a more profitable business choice.

I mean, if you don't know who Mario is you've probably been living in a box. Easily one of the biggest mascots of the gaming industry.

Whether we should try to protect human rights or video game IPs.

I know, hard decision.
Also chicken sandwiches.

(I love Chik-Fil-A but I'm comfortable never buying from it again, helps that it's unhealthy as hell.)

Why should one person care about other people's rights if fighting for them costs them every reason they have to live?
If games are your reason for living you need to either get professional help, or get better professional help if the current help isn't working.

The bigger problem above all is the fact that unchecked greed has trickled into society, and has left people making decisions based on, effectively, money. Younger folks worldwide are fighting back against that, but it doesn’t change the fact that society has valued wealth more than character for many years.

I am angry not at Blizzard, but at the leadership of Blizzard.

However, I do understand the implications of not just allowing any particular person affiliated with Blizzard say things that will affect the company. It's really not that black & white.

Like if you're Blizzard...if you don't do something about what Blitzchung said, then it opens up to other things that people could say while under contract with Blizzard. If somebody says something anti-China and that's allowed, then they can't necessarily apply it to other situations. It comes down to consistency with the company.

Call me out if you like, even though I adamantly believe in what the Hong Kong Protestors are doing. I think it's great that they're putting their ideals on the table, and are working to make a difference. I think that matches up with values of choice and taking power into their own hands rather than relying on the old people who make (bad) decisions for others.

While I disagree, I see why Blizzard has that policy in place, though it sent a message that, for all we know, the CEO and leadership of Blizzard may not have meant. But when you send out that "apology" and don't really apologize, it's just a bad look.

I do think it comes down to money, but I don't think all of Blizzard should be cast to the void. The employees in the company have allowed their position to be heard on the subject. I still believe in the ideals that characters like Winston & Tracer believe in, despite the ideals of people who make money off of them. It's frustrating, and you'd never wish to be in that situation.

Luckily, aside from Overwatch I don't really play other Blizzard games. I also don't really plan to purchase loot boxes in OW any time soon, considering I haven't done the Halloween event yet, and the only skin I'd want is the Tracer one.

Bleh. It's unfortunate when the most influential color in the world today is green, and not even in the sense that the we love and care for the natural world.

Because video games shouldn't be your reason to live in the first place?

Seriously, it's exhausting to discuss things with you. I'm just talking about my hobbies and you act like it's a life-death situation.

I like Dragon Quest. I have bought multiple Dragon Quest games. I was very happy that Hero made it into Smash.

Also: Sugiyama is a scumbag who almost certainly despises my existence as a queer person. Purchasing the fighter's pass (which I did), Hero individually, or any Dragon Quest game (which I have done) means putting money directly into his pockets. I had to make my peace with that. Others certainly aren't obligated to, and I don't take it as an affront to myself, a Dragon Quest fan who would like more games to come out in the West, if they choose to boycott the series on those grounds, because human rights are infinitely more important that video games.
As a queer person as well this is basically my stance. We have to make our choices under capitalism and live with them. I don't judge the choices others make as long as they aren't gleefully supporting hateful products or content.

(Sugiyama will probably, uh, retire soon, at least...)

You really need to go out and find more to live for if you think video games prioritize helping other people. Like, not even in this specific context. Just in general.

Even with the boycot this is still true. They are never gonna do what you ask. So your just gonna keep boycotting them until they go under.
Literally no company ever is going to say "I'd rather go bankrupt than give people what they want." That would be stupid.

Here's a quote that I think is relevant to this situation though:
First they came for the socialists, and I did not speak out—

Because I was not a socialist.

Then they came for the trade unionists, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a trade unionist.

Then they came for the Jews, and I did not speak out—
Because I was not a Jew.

Then they came for me—and there was no one left to speak for me.

I'll be frank, I couldn't possibly care less. No one goes into fast food for job stability.
unless youre a teen mom

fast food industry looks like a mix of teenagers and middle-aged people with nowhere to go

It was literally one store. It's really not that hard to find another entry level job.

Jesus ****ing Christ girl you need professional help if not better professional help. Video Games shouldn't be the only reason to live you should have other and better priorities before Video Games.

I love gaming as a hobby it has helped me through a lot of dark times and I've grown up playing video games so I'll never give up the hobby and I will never outgrow it but I wouldn't call it a top priority nor should it be a top priority imo it's just something you love and enjoy nothing worth dying over.

I really don't mean to sound like a **** but you really need to rethink your priorities.
