Hey folks, I wanted to make sure I mentioned this as it was requested of me from a friend.
ShinyLegendary says hello to everybody, and wanted you all to know that she has decided she is a girl now. She asked me to share that with everybody, and hopes all is well!

I love Terry, but the fact that Sans attracted more attention should've made the Anti-Smash Bubble Bubble realize that the public isn't a bunch of robots that go "THIS CHARACTER IS NOT FROM NINTENDO. I SHALL NOW CONSUME THE CHARACTER". Which is what I believe "third parties are more hype" has turned into.
Let’s be honest, there are absolutely 3rd parties that Nintendo fans get excited about, but some of those characters are very closely related with Nintendo.
There’s nothing wrong with that, but if they aren’t connected with Nintendo it comes across as though they’re looked at as unfavorable. This is why Phoenix Wright gets more support from Nintendo fans than, say, Resident Evil or Devil May Cry picks would.
Again, nothing wrong with that. It just doesn’t necessarily line up with what would bring in the most hype all-around.

Which would be Heihachi or Scorpion rather than Terry.
Again, I'm not complaining about Terry. I'm complaining that the complaints aren't coming from people who think Nintendo should be ultra-concerned about characters being too niche.

In that case, I would agree to an extent. If a character is like...very niche though, then that’s got potential for people to be like, “What the ****”, whereas I really don’t think Terry is as niche as folks in the Smash fan base make him out to be. There’s a reason for the memes surrounding the reveal in regard to Smash fans.
Frankly I think Terry also was added because Sakurai is a KoF fan, and Smash takes plenty of inspiration from KoF.
Part of me expects Heihachi in the next set, but I personally see Scorpion as off the table considering the status of Mortal Kombat in Japan.
Honestly, I think one thing I see with the Smash speculation fan base is that we can be completely valid in why we want characters most of the time.
The true distinction comes from the reasoning for why characters are considered “likely”, “iconic” or, *shudders* “deserving”. It’s obviously much better now than it was during Wii U/3DS era talk, but it’s still there.
As a teacher, I just see some sites or fans (not necessarily here, we’re pretty decent) not really approach newcomer speculation critically, or with critical thinking. It comes down to “showing” not “telling” people some cool ideas. Like, “X character is going to get in because they’re popular” or “They’re definitely upgrading ATs because some are requested for playable” when that’s...not entirely strong reasoning? I don’t know. That’s mainly why I try to really explain my views on things rather than throw them out there without context.
Pretty good. I went to see my grandma for her birthday, and since I have the day off, I'm going to rewatch Terminator 2 (one of my favourite movies) and give Stranger Things a try.
Good. Just had a delicious Italian meal and now I'm watching Premier League highlights.
Also, Megadoomer... you'll LOVE ST if you like fast plot pacing and thriller stories. It's a wonderfully entertaining series and is potentially the fastest tv show I've ever watched in that I was never bored, not once. There are a couple characters that have wonky character development, but if you can overlook that then the show is perfect.
I’m gonna share my post from the Newcomer Speculation thread:
“This is what I got from the Most Wanted votes for some characters, including variations (multiple spellings, multiple characters in same vote (not all of those kind), and variations like Steve/Alex or Minecraft Steve, Doomguy or Doom Slayer, etc.):
Steve had at least 376 votes, including a lone Minecraft vote, one with Frisk, two with Geno, one with Crash and another in the same vote, and one with Rayman.
Hatsune Miku had at least 11.
Isaac had at least 371.
Doom/Doomguy/Doom Slayer had at least 326.
Geno had at least 635 (including one with Sora).
Master Chief had at least 107.
I saw one Mickey Mouse vote.
Reimu had at least 339.
Ryu Hayabusa had at least 38 (including one standalone Hayabusa vote I believe I saw).
Ridley had 2 votes for some reason.
Porky Minch had at least 34 (including one with Geno).
Sabi had three votes with the exact same choices for the other options (just misspelled Pyra in one) so idk what this is.
I saw a single Gengar vote and am sad.
Monster Hunter had at least 27.
Monokuma had at least 22
Crash Bandicoot had at least 230 (including one with Sora).
Spyro had at least 22 (including one with Sora).
Sora had at least 377 (including one with Shantae and another with Heavy).
There were two Shreks.
Skull Kid had at least 36.
Shovel Knight had at least 16.
Shantae had at least 353 (including three with Geno).
Sans had at least 18.
Frisk had at least 64 (including one with Sans).
Flowey had at least 2.
Rayman had at least 250 (including one Ray Man and one with Geno).
Rabbids had at least 2.
Quote had at least 19.
Heavy had at least 279.
SpongeBob had one.
What sucks is that a lot of people tend to want multiple characters, just one the most if not more equally, so the poll still isn’t 100% accurate regarding some characters’ popularity. The ones with multiple characters will likely be removed.”
if you want me to add a character or more, please don’t kill me with a mountain of them.
Ok these popularity polls are great and all, but we should take a step back and see how it really ties in to what we’ll be seeing on the roster.
When I looked at various popularity polls about a year ago, I didn’t see Terry and Dragon Quest Hero at all, and didn’t see Joker that high.
So only 1/4 of the fighters Pass characters (Banjo-Kazooie) so far are evidence that these Smash Community Polls align with what Sakurai has in mind.
Got a handful of Mega Man character results in my thread. Otherwise, a site wide poll would be neat, but I would hope there's a TON of options. Otherwise, the other button's gonna get a ton of use.
Pretty much. Not a ton of these polls will give us an immediate idea of who's possible. Just what a certain amount of people want at a given time.

No one was forced to sign up. Everybody who participated did it consensually and on their own whim, and we all had fun. Hell, we were probably too nice because we let Shiny lower her consequences to a simple avatar change

For real though, can I just say that I think Cardi B is ****ing awesome? Like, how often do you see celebrities willing to just go all out on what they feel? She's super cool and hilarious.
