I'm not sure if I should get the standard $300 Switch right now, or wait for the handheld only, albeit cheaper $200 Switch Lite coming in a couple weeks.
If I do get the standard one, I may need to hold off on the Fighter's Pass til later down the road due to the increased costs. The soonest I can see myself getting the pass in that case, is probably Christmas.
If get the Switch Lite, I'll probably be able to get everything, day 1. Tho with it being handheld only I'll be missing the docked experience, meaning I won't be able to play couch multiplayer with friends and family, which assuming Smash is one heck of a party game series, that'd be quite the missed experience. (That being said tho, I'd need to fork over even more cash for more controllers in order to have more than two players at once.)
decisions decisions
to help make my decision much easier, I've got a couple questions to ask y'all
- Do you prefer the Switch in handheld mode or in dock mode?
- How delicate would y'all say is the standard Switch? With all the detachable parts like the joycons and stuff, it sure looks like it could be. I tend to be a total klutz when it comes to electronic devices, and I don't wanna spend $300 if I'm gonna end up busting the dang thing pretty easily
- Does a game as ambitious as Smash Ultimate work well in handheld mode? I'm afraid there could be some caveats when it comes to the decreased capabilities in handheld mode, especially with stuff like 8 player Smash, ice climbers, some of the bigger stages and so on.
- How fun is the couch multiplayer compared to past titles?
- overall, which do you think I should go with? I'm open to either at the end of the day. Both seem to have their pros and cons, so it doesn't really matter either way.
Thanks for the feedback, as always
