I still don’t understand the point of “official art” that isn’t in the same style as the actual game. Like. Isn’t that false advertising?

No, what would be false advertising is if there was artwork of a bunch of characters that ultimately didn't appear in the game. And artstyle can't always translate into a game. Like, you're not getting a handrawn Mega Man on the NES or SNES, like, that's legit not possible. In the same way, a 2D Drawing of Sonic isn't gonna work in a 3D enviroment.

Okay. I kind of understand it with pixel art games from the NES and SNES era. Even the PS1 and N64 era. This is what the characters are actually supposed to look like and we can’t do that in the game because... we’ll, the technology isn’t there. But in the modern age? Yeah. I don’t see the point. Just use the models.

Artwork is more pleasing to the eye, and most modern games use renders instead of artwork nowadays.

I should probably get it on the eShop and give it a try.

At the very least, I'm gonna pick up a Neogeo Mini controller to use with my Magic-NS adapter.
