This reminds me when I made my account, Crashboards happened but I kept the rules page open and I read it over and over again until the crash ended. I was a lurker during the D-Idara incident, and since 2007 so, I try to not get not even a single infraction point, specially because english is not my native language.

Basically/in a nutshell. The image/gif/video spam itself was also contributing to serious lag when opening any given page for a lot of users. Every once in a while is fine, but this was literally every page, all the time. If nothing else, post them in spoilers.

To put it in perspective:

The original thread lasted from the boards inception (June 2012) to early February 2014. Over two and a half years.

2.0 lasted from February to the end of August. Only 6 months, but that's accounting for stuff like Smash Directs/E3 bringing in a ton of new users.

3.0 lasted just barely over 3 months, from end of August to now. That's less than half the time/lifespan of 2.0.

Mind you that's 2,000 pages a pop/thread. With half of them being image/gif/meme/reaction posts and like-farming as of late.

If the point of the new rules regarding pictures was made in order to slow down the rate at which this thread advances, then why is it called the Turbo Hyper Edition?
I feel like that name would've better suited 3.0.

Reminds me of my Freshman year. One night my suite-mates stayed up partying in their room until 3am, and shortly afterwards someone started throwing bottle rockets outside their windows (sounds like a gun shot). Didn't get to bed until 4:30.

Or when my next door neighbor had a jumbo stereo placed right against the opposite side of my wall, caused an earthquake. I'm still mad at my RA/housing office for ignoring my multiple complaints.

Quite frankly there's nothing to get used to, which is the issue. There's no crackdown happening right now, but you all are acting like there is, which does put us in a difficult position.

The biggest change, if it can be called that, is that we ask for you all to have a bit more substance when posting certain forms of content. You all were fairly good at not doing that, but it has happened and it did need a reminder.
