parts would be good

I need to swap out my control stick and C-stick, probably the hardest to replace well

But the shell is so comfortable, i'd rather use that one

Thanks for the link. $80 for a controller is not okay lol. Although we are kinda lucky- we dont have to buy arcade sticks for 200 bucks

how would one loosen up the control stick???
only idea i have is to spin it mario party style, clockwise n counter clockwise over n over
as well as spendin some time moving it left and right
what i want to achieve is:
loose on the x-axis
a bit less loose on the y-axis

N64 players have it baad.

Would anyknow know what's up with my controller? It keeps moving by itself. I've already opened it and cleaned it (and it works for a while) but it starts moving by itself again (to the point where if i push the joystick the opposite direction the char stands still)

Ever since that has happened I've been forced to use my wavebird but I'd prefer playing my normal GC controller

any ideas?

Wrath, if you're anywhere near me at any time, I can solder it for you for the cost of the solder itself (I have none).

is it possible to re-attach/re-solder control sticks from one motherboard to another?
yup, u can do that
u can even interchange the cstick and control stick

so anyone got ideas for loosening up a controller?

you just have to bond with your controller

eventually it will age to your specifications =]

or lend it to a friend who plays super hard for a while
when you come back it will be a lot looser

wha, you mean the whole actual mechanism on the motherboard, right?
are there any differences between the architecture of c-stick and the control stick?

My previous controller and I just couldn't work it out. Fortunately, one of my ex-controllers came around and things have been fine since then.

yes, thats what i mean
the box with the stick attached to the motherboard, for both sticks, are the same
only difference is the plastic tops

i'm almost positive that's underneath

switching the boxes might be really useful though, since you don't need to do as many angles on the c-stick (unless the one you plan on switching is REALLY messed up and makes you stuck in spot dodge or something)

and if they're exactly the same there should be no problem

the first person to try this out and talk about it is a pimp

i've been using pocky's spare controller
it would sometimes light shield after i wavedashed
i figured it was mostly my fault

yesterday it started shielding automatically

is there a known cause for this?

also, i might be in the market for a controller if this one is ****ed up
we'll see though, im hoping this can be fixed

Fly told me that if you hold L lightly (holding it down but not clicking it) while putting in your controller slot, it doesn't lightshield.

....I think that's what he said

You probably can repair the controller, but I'm not certain.

@Connor: I don't understand controllers very well, but I think that if you hold down a trigger a little when you plug the controller in, then the controller won't recognize any inputs weaker than the initial one.

I don't think this is a good permanent solution, though. For example, in early 2009, I started accidentally lightshielding after L-canceling and shielding after wavedashing a lot. I realized that the L-trigger on my controller was taking longer to reset to its default position than it used to, so I started holding L down just a little bit when plugging in, after which point it worked fine for a while. However, within a few months, I started accidentally lightshielding again in spite of this and had to hold the L-button down all the way, which meant I couldn't lightshield at all, which led me to start using a different controller.

probably on a platform
wait, so there is a way to fix a loose c-stick?

my wavebird c-stick is garbage, messes up camera angles and stuff, i like using it for games not smash, but i can't normally because of the messed up c-stick, is there a simple solution to fixing this and not buying a new controller

fly, that sounds like the same problem im having with this controller.
i might be able to take apart the trigger or something

im probably just going to buy a controller so i can have my own anyways

macd: it sounds like it's possible, but you probably cant tell without opening it up and looking at it
