I know that this is a year away but the venue gets booked so quickly that I need to sort this out today. Basically, I have already provisionally booked Tues 16th to Thurs 18th of August. However, I also enquired whether the weekend after this was available aswell (as she told me the week was free).

The owner got back to me and said we could have fri 19th to sun 21st. I need to know what dates people would prefer.

The benefits I see for the weekend are for those that work, venue owners not being around and that (i think) alot of european go back to school/uni by mid-august.

Let me know asap I need to tell the venue owner today.

If it costs the same to rent the space for both sets of dates, I'd def say the weekend option is the better one.

Another thing to consider is that I believe the 18th of August will be the date that all A level students have to go pick up their results and that may affect a number of people in our community

If you were to host the weekend you would most certainly see more UK players, however you are looking at more difficult travelling for europeans as the UK is not kind to people travelling home on a sunday by means of public transport.

As Koop said, Sunday transport can really be terrible for some things, but trains are not really affected? So if all the Euros get a taxi from the station etc which most did at SNY, it should not have a large impact.

Trains and the london underground are two of the most affected as sunday is when most railworks and underground works take place, trains run less frequently / stop running earlier and some routes are closed off and you'd be required to take a diversion.

Get where you are coming from Sammy boy however....

Thing is this is Birmingham to London. Although there maybe less frequent trains there still are enough trains running that people can get from Brum to London. Its not like Birmingham is a remote place where less frequent trains would cause a huge problem.

Most people actually take the coach as its alot more economical. National Express and Megabus don't run a limited service.

Aslong as people plan carefully they will be able to travel on sunday. Those who will be affected more so are the Londoners but they are British and able to easily navigate transport systems/boo in advance.

Transport between mine and the venue is by taxi anyway so that isn't a problem.

Lastly, most flights are to expensive on a Sunday. I expect majority of Europeans, like SNY, will stay at mine the Sunday night and travel Monday.

To be honest having the venue over a weekend is benefitial in terms of there being no venue owners present. This is good in terms of them not knowing if we go over the 200 person limit ;) AND them finding out people are smoking stuff near the venue. Also avoids other hassles I can think of :) noise levels etc

Plus, those that work are more likely to come.

Yeah I have but I need them to confirm what times we can have the venue for. I was really pushy last time and managed to get us 9am (tues) till 7pm (thurs). When we shouldn't have had , should've been 11am and out 10am. Ive asked to have the same time period for SNY2 BUT they have a group in at 10am Monday. The owner said that this should be fine but she needs to check things and get back to me to confirm. I was hoping for an email today.

Hopefully, I will get an email asap confirming the weekend dates with similar times as per SNY. If I don't get the same time window I will take the mid-week dates.

I was under the impression they'd be leaving sunday but if you are accomodating til monday then my previous comment is majorly flawed. I have been moved by your words ed, and have decided to shift my allegiance to the weekend arrangement. Bless x
