I once dreamt that I smoked.
Roll-your-owns are so much better.
First of all, they don't come with all those chemicals and shit that purchased cigs come with. It's just pure tobacco.
Second, you actually get the choice of what kind of tabacoo you want to put in it. As a result, roll-your-owns should, in theory, taste better once you find that perfect kind of tobacco.
Third, the head buzz you get from roll-your-own is so much stronger than purchased cigs.
And lastly, a lot cheaper. Paper cost you a few dollars and you can get tobacco for very cheap. You can probably get enough papers and tobacco for 15 dollars that you would find in a carton of cigs, which would cost you at least 40.
The only reason one would not get roll-your-owns is because they are lazy. It does get annoying to have to roll your own when you can just conveniently pull one out of a pack.
btw, I do smoke the occasional cigarette, more when I'm drinking at parties. Weed, not at all.

I smoke for flavor, so rolling my own (usually drum or american spirit) pays off definately, but the other day a smoker friend of mine posed to me a part of the argument I was not aware of. Packaged ****arettes are a lot easier on your lungs so it's not all that hard to get into a habit of smoking 10 or so a day.

Anyways, I actually HATE roll-your-owns. I smoked about half my bag of tobacco (happens to be bali shag) and finished it off today. My issue? First off, it turns to powder near the end. You'd need a roller to make something truly smokeable out of it. The things I made with the powder were just irritating and gross. And that's like the last fifth of the bag, but I carry the tobacco everywhere I go, so maybe that's why.
Anyways, there's another problem. You get about forty cigarettes out of a package of rolling tobacco, and it costs about 7 bucks, including papers. Now, that'd be fine, except for the fact that there isn't nearly enough "oomph" to the cigarette. It's really annoying because I feel like I'm not smoking anything when I smoke them. It feels like I'm smoking air. And they burn WAY too fast, so you end up getting a LITTLE more out of them, but they're just time consuming, and you end up spending about as much as you would on similar quality prerolled cigarettes (Lucky Strikes are a dollar cheaper and last about 80% as long, and are a lot better). Roll your owns are just way too flavorful, with not enough of the actual necessities of a smoke in them. I smoke mainly to get my nicotine, but I have my limits on taste. If it tastes like ****, then I'm obviously not going to have that. Luckies have a good flavor, because it doesn't feel like you just ate something after you're done. It just has a taste. On the other hand, rolling tobacco seems to have incredibly pungent taste.
I'm not an enthusiast for smoking "flavored tobaccos" because I'm not big on tobacco. I just smoke it to get my nicotine fix. And in that regard, I highly recommend going for regular cigarettes. They don't last as long, but cost about two and a half bucks less per pack. Most cigarettes are in the 5 dollar range where I live, but roll your owns are 2 bucks more expensive. Pall Malls are 4.50, and Lucky Strikes are 5.50, with Kamels at 5.00

First of all, you don't smoke roll your owns without a roller. The roller is essential. Seriously, how do you go about smoking roll your owns without one? That's silly talk.
There is no way in hell that roll your owns are more expensive. Are you kidding? Doing the math in my head, I say that roll your owns are about half the price of cigs from a pack. Spending 10 dollars on a roller is such a good investment when you take that into consideration. You save SO MUCH money on roll your owns.
You also say that it doesn't last very long. heh, that's cause you don't use a roller (I think you realized that though). A roller allows you to pack the tobacco in very tight which makes for a nice and long lasting cigarette.
Also, you mentioned powder. If you keep the tobacco sealed at all times, it should always be nice and moist and ideal for packing. How good your tobacco is correlates to how well you take care of it.

and yes rol yur wosn are far more cheaper but again it depends on the brand u buy.
but i dont care about all that. a pack of marlboro menthols will do me fine and well and i dont even have to roll it

I bought a deck of camels last Friday. Goooooood. They're filtered, but they still have a nice pop as they go down. What's even better is they're only a 1 dollar more than my usual brand. Also, it smells like they have alcohol in them, which is nice. =]

i wanna touch on the issue of smoking and playing melee. many smashers are pretty young, or WERE pretty young, like under 18.... but i started playing melee when i was about 19 and unfortunately had already been smoking cigs/weed for years. the first few tournaments i went to, i felt like the only one taking "smokebreaks" because there werent many peeps my age. i have also gone to about 80% of tournaments high as a kite, often playing teams/singles tourney matches. we often believed in "the comedown", that is, if you get high, and like 45 minutes to an hour later, when you start coming down, you play unbelievably good melee and get really focused. this is all speculation of course, but our tourney performances would not lie, where i would often place high while being high. i always try to keep it on the down-low tho, because i dont want to be a bad influence on others. a local vet smasher named SS4Ricky once said that "those performance enhancing marijuana drugs should be banned, they remove pressure from tourney matches". lol. anyway, smoking cigs and weed are bad habits to get addicted to, but in moderation i think they are ok. just keep safe circumstances and dont get arrested.

Pot is a God-made drug, so if you smoke anything, smoke pot. Also, just advise for smokers out there, refrain from smoking in Missouri because people will automatically think your using meth and kick the crap out of you.

i had cancer when i was born but i still smoke . its not stupidity. i just dont smoke my self into oblivion. i enjoy the cigg and yeah it does ahrm but werte all gonna die someday. yes theres still quality of life but i dont wanna be 85-90 bedridden and having my kids take care of me or be stuck playing crabs in a nursing home

@ G-reg's post ~~~ Best believe it! I've done my best smashin after smokin some herb. That boost in creativity and awesome focus brings out my potential. I must admit that I've had a mixed bag of experiences. Sometimes I believe the paranoia aspect can augment my already ridiculous nervousness in a tourny situations. I've smoked herb for a couple years and smoked Camel Golds for 5 months. I prefer Camel over most but cloves were awesome when I didn't pay for them. Now i'll roll tobacco from time to time. The power and effects of rolled tobacco trump cigs anyday but i've never had a habit of it.
I smoke herb on avg over 1.5 times a day. I'd say it's been mostly positive in my life and I don't see any reason for myself quitting. Piss tests are easy to bypass and as long as you play it safe the Law isn't much of a problem.
