there's a reason the stage list is limited, y'know.
Also petitions don't work.

This petition is a hilarious idea. I almost considered signing it because of the laugh it gave me... almost.

They could limit your enjoyment and just not have 8 player Smash altogether. We can't have everything with everything. Moderation is needed.

Hi there, what's the reason?
I think there's 2 reasons:

1. So the game can run smoothly. I doubt that the game could handle some of the more intense maps with 8 Rosalinas & Lumas or 8 Olimars/Alphs & Pikmin with max items on while keeping a frame rate of 60 fps. For example, Final Destination(with its changing background) is disabled in 8 players but the omega form for a bunch of maps are available(most of which have static backgrounds).

2. Some maps would just be unplayable. Try to imagine 8 players on Port Town or SmashVille.

The aren't restricting the number of stages because they want to keep you from having fun. They do it because the Wii U isn't powerful enough and some stages would be too small for 8 people.

The reason of limited stages is

The atages are too small and could causes crashing besides we don't know if any of the secret stages yet and those could be 8-player co patable and also 5-player is possible of adding some stages

I'm starting to wonder. Are you guys watching the video? or just reading a bit until you say "LMFAO....No! xD".

It's all cool.

let me just make this a bit easier.....don't even go to the "Change.org" link

http://youtu.be/Ez7ALVi7lXI?t=1m3s

If you guys still feel the same after watching the whole video then it's all cool.

The video hasn't changed my mind. While watching, it was really hard to make out a specific player in the middle of all the chaos and the matches were just a cluster of characters attacking in the same general area. This is just my opinion but I wouldn't want to play 8-player matches on such small maps that could barely support 8 players.

Also, you seem to have not acknowledged the people who actually responded to the thread and gave reason on why 8 players wouldn't work.

Oh no, it's not that I haven't acknowledged. I didn't get to all the posts. Some are actually the same statements indicating game limitations.

As far as your opinion. I respect it, although I can say that I was able to make out the characters on all stages shown.

With my opinion.....I like to play small-medium stages with such a mode and Large stages I can have a bit of fun like Palutena's Temple and Great Cave Offensive but in cases like these, there seems to be a bit more navigation for opponents instead of straight jumping in to fight them. I really like the new "Big Battlefield" stage because it seems to appeal to people from both sides

1. The video is a bit too... Serious IMO. :p
2. I guess I can see you're point, so you get a sign.
yeah that song in the beginning is a bit........LMAO

its really more the stuff starting around 1:04

Did you guys watch the video? Do you still feel the same after watching gameplay from a gamecube game?

If you do then it's all cool

The Ridley fans thought petitions would help their cause. How is this topic any different?
There was a Ridley petition?.........damn lol

To the people who say tech limitations: really? You think the game can handle 8 players on huge stages but not 8 players on smaller stages, even though smaller stages use a lot less of everything?

If 8 players can be on Great Cave Offensive, how can it not handle that on FD?

And if Battlefield is considered big enough, how can something even be too small?

Melee is the superior game. 8 player Ice Climbers. FTW.

All of the usual "concerns" were brought to attention in the video. I wanted to make sure that all you dudes see that. Thank you for watching!

Aside from that I've heard things that fall into personal preferences and attributes in this thread.

All that video did was give me a headache.
I'm sorry to hear that.

Even if the video petition fails. I would like people or Nintendo to educate. Through all efforts done, you find answers and truth.

well damn lol....I didn't mean it like that but thank you so much for watching the video!

Did you yourself watch the video with all the characters on those stages? They are all jumbled up with a single character overtaking them all. whoever was grounded would win. You could not see or think about what was happening. That is why the list is limited.

Sorry for potential double-post, but another thing about that video... there were no items, and no projectiles ere being used. With an item frequency on high, as well as projectiles being used frequently, the frame-rate would suffer severely.

Are you saying that you can't choose to not play on certain stages if they were made available because you don't like it?

What you see, what you enjoy...does that go the same for everybody else?

Sorry would you like a video to be shown with 8 characters on screen and High Frequency items for the gamecube game?

EDIT: If so, request me the stage and characters. I'll let my friend know

I'm pretty sure it's been confirmed that the less players you have in the 5-8 player mode, the more stages will be available to play. So 5 player Smash should have easily a big majority of the stages. Plus, petitions never get anything done in the world of Nintendo.

with ice climbers and projectiles on a scrolling stage AND moving backgrounds. besides, Melee is completely different from Smash 4, with only 16 ai on a single stage at a time. Olimar and Rosalina and Luma would also be a problem, potentially.
AND, what about Stage Hazards? That would also be problematic.
You have your opinion. I have my own opinion. That is just what I think, and, about this:

I am fairly certain most people would not like to lose due to not even being able to see their own character and being pummeled while in the air.
It shouldn't be made available because there is no reason for it to be available. Smaller stages would give priority to anyone with super armor.

Why can people just be happy that we even have eight player smash?

Because the stage is now "Big Battlefield" aka a larger version of the stage to accommodate the fighters.

Hi there, what's the reason?
Regardless of any form of logic or reasoning I could possibly present to you, you'll never grasp the concept of "small stages becoming unplayable."
Even the argument made in the video that no stage is too small is flawed because now it's just a cluster **** smashed together in one spot. If you find this fun and appealing, good for you, but the developers made the right choice making large stages the only one available.
Literally holy **** 8 fighters on Fountain of Dreams was disgusting. Let's make it even more clustered with items on hig- oh wait, the vid didn't have items on because they knew it'd be stupid.

Big Battlefield and Battlefield are separate stages, and regular Battlefield is accessible during Eight Player Smash, assuming all the information in the Direct will stay the same between now and release.

Just like turning stage hazards off, its possible I'm sure but Sakurai and his team didn't to do it. He probably felt it was best played on certain stages.

You don't know how hard this game might be on the Wii U to run in HD with 8 characters, tons of items and intricate stage mechanics and backgrounds, so you can't even say for sure its possible and a petition surely isn't going to matter here. The game is done and once you get it, I'm sure you can hack your wii u to allow all stages in that mode. After all you just posted a video of hacked Melee right?

I must've missed this information of BigBF being it's own slot, but I can't even fathom where all 8 characters would spawn on normal sized battlefield.

1. All Ice Climbers *Check*

2. All CPU *Check*

3. ALL Items on High Frequency *Check*

4. Still waiting on the stage you want to see Rainbow Cruise? Icicle Mountatin? Poke Floats? what stage in Melee?

EDIT: I'm still waiting for the stage @ Captain Norris Captain Norris . You actually brung up a good point. I'm actually now wondering if you can even play with items in Wii U's 8 Player Smash

You're right! I don't know but I never said it was possible but an answer would be appreciated.

Yeah lets see if Wii U smash is hackable. It would definitely show if it's possible or not

It's in the same Direct we all saw lol

EDIT: Hey btw, doesn't that throw off your "Even the argument made in the video that no stage is too small is flawed because now it's just a cluster **** smashed together in one spot. If you find this fun and appealing, good for you, but the developers made the right choice making large stages the only one available." with stages like Normal Battlefield, Castle Siege, Omega stages and etc...

Guys, don't double or triple post please. If you want to repy to a post after you made a post, just go to "reply", copy it, go to the post you made, go to "edit", and paste it into there. Not too hard and helps you avoid warnings and infractions for something silly as double posting.

No, 8-player Smash just won't work on certain stages. It needs space.

Plus, the lag would make this unplayable online.

No, not really. It's still a cluster ****. Battlefield is just reasonable in size to begin with.

Did you watch the video? was there a stage not shown in the video that brings the concern of "not working"?

The online is an additional thing.......the main thing is the restrictions although we don't even know how the online is for Wii U compared to Brawl in which they are now pushing us to use Wired Connection which isn't an available option for Online play in the 3DS version.

It's not always a cluster **** (can't say the same for Ice Climbers lol). And so what if it is? That doesn't mean you still can't pick the stages that you do like to play on. That abiltiy wouldn't be taken away from you if all the other stages would be made available.

Correct me if I'm wrong but a majority of the stages are around Battlefield size. I certainly don't know of a stage smaller in melee than something like Kirby's Dreamland, The beginning of Rainbow Cruise or Flat Zone.

Plus that video was only 6 players. The 2 extra on top of that really makes a difference.
