Alright, I like how other people explain.
Peach floats in to fight! Of course I added Peach. She's Peach. Everybody knows her.
Diddy Kong swings in to battle! I have recently learned DK is Nintendo's 4th largest series, and I would like to add a DK newcomer soon.
Falco prefers the air! Hopefully getting more and more unique every title. He's the 2nd most iconic which may be due to Melee.
Ike has no sympathy for you! He's the 2nd most important Fire Emblem character as he's been the lord of a game twice, and Marth has even more times, but everybody else has only been the main lord of a game once. And Fire Emblem is definitely deserving of 2 reps on a 35 character roster. Example: Melee Roster, Brawl Roster
Mewtwo strikes back! 3rd most iconic Pokemon. And I needed 3 Pokemon. Seemed rather obvious.
Ice Climbers team up! The original retro of Smash. I added them for their unique playstyle. Up until Brawl, they were the most unique characters. I already have Olimar, and it's too early for Rosalina, so it's Climber Time!
Ganondorf uses a sword! Unarguably the most iconic villain of Zelda. People have been putting Toon Link over Zelda and/or Ganondorf. I disagree entirely. This is the triforce trio. The main character, the girl, and the villain. Adding a clone of an existing character over them is too risky. Also, give him the sage sword from Twilight Princess, please, Sakurai!
Zero Suit Samus Zeroes In! Metroid needs 2 reps at this point and I couldn't add Ridley. Only a veteran. So I picked my favorite of the ONLY CHOICE. (Still salty that we may never get a true 2nd Metroid character)
Dedede dance dance dances! The most iconic Kirby villain who has now become an iconic protagonist. We all know he's the 2nd major Kirby character!
Meta Knight redefines broken! And then the next most. I've also learned Kirby is the 5th largest Nintendo franchise. And he is very well known and popular. So... of course I added him too.

And I think it is perfectly fine to have 3 retros on 35 character roster.
Example: Brawl's roster had 4

Changed my roster

I added Bowser, Diddy Kong, Ganondorf, Charizard, Ike, Meta Knight, King Dedede, Wolf, Ice Climbers and Lucario.

• Bowser is Nintendo's main villain. Plus I had other villains last round.
• Diddy was because he is more important to the series, and I already had K Rool.
• Ganondorf is the third most important Zelda character, after the main character and the title character.
• Charizard is the most popular Pokemon ever.
• Ike is most recurring character main character after Marth.
• Meta Knight and King Dedede are both iconic Nintendo characters.
• Wolf is more important than Falco in my opinion.
• Ice Climbers was the first retro in Smash Bros, so I felt they should have been the first retro in Smash evolution.
• Lucario is the most iconic non-Kanto Pokemon.

Close but no dice: ROB, Sheik, Zero Suit Samus, Mr Game and Watch, Mewtwo, Lucas

Is there any reason I don't get notifications for this thread? I've been wanting to ask this for a while but I kept waiting to see if I ever got one.

If I'm quoted here, tagged here, anything. I've never received a notification. But only this thread. I haven't noticed this about any of the others... does anybody know why this is happening?

Voted for lonekonwolf for not having Peach. In a roster of 35 Nintendo All-Stars, it's kind of a major glaring flaw.

I like my rosters a bit more on the risky side, and Kyles only risky character was Duck Hunt, someone I don't really care for. Sorry m8

I was pretty disappointed in quite a few rosters...
The_Shiek and Bindingblade both lack more than one retro rep which made me pretty mad. And yet the both have ZSS and Sheik.. -_-
Kylexv lacks Gannon and put Toon Link in over him.... that's odd.

But my vote had to go to:

I voted for LoneKonWolf because not only did he have Toon Link but not Zelda, the person Toon Link's series is named off of, but he only has Samus as a female... I love me my female reps. Sorry dude.

It didn't turn out as well as I hoped. But I think I'm going to do that for every vote now.

Maybe because you're the only one that fits that description I've ever voted for that isn't out

In the 2nd round you had Dedede and Wolf over Bowser so I voted for you.
What you did in the 3rd round was a bit risky, but Ok, so you were only the third I considered voting for, after Josh and Chase.
I don't think Saki should get in before Isaac, but that was more of a personal thing so I didn't vote for you.
And in this round you have broken up the triforce trio for a clone. It would have been different if you had Link, Zelda, and Toon Link. I could understand that better because Ganondorf's a clone too, and those are the 3 we currently have confirmed for Smash 4, but with Link, Toon Link, and Ganondorf, you have no magic-type character on your roster, or the title character of the series. Zelda is the #2 priority of Zelda.
What you have is like a Kid Icarus roster of Pit, Medusa, and Dark Pit with no Palutena. (Series is named after Palutena in Japan)
And only 1 female, Samus. Sorry, but pretty much all of my mains are females so that means a lot to me.
I also disagree with putting Lucario over Mewtwo. But I can get past that easily.
I also disagree with Zelda, Pokemon, Kirby, and Starfox all having equal characters. But I can get past that easily too.
What I can't get past is the fact that all of those are equal to Mario when you could have easily just added Peach.
I also disagree with 2 Animal Crossing reps. It's a big series but not as big as Metroid.
It really just comes down to Peach and Zelda. You just can't leave out Peach and Zelda in a 35 character roster.
They're probably amongst the top 10 most well-known Nintendo characters and are both very unique, sorry Lonekonwolf.
