For Capcom, I'm resubmitting my man Edward Falcon
Job #8: Edward Falcon from Power Stone
View attachment 348162
Edward Falcon is the main face of Power Stone, a beloved duology of 3D arena fighters by Capcom that were on arcades and, more famously, the Dreamcast.

Falcon is an adventurer from the town of Londo (yes, Londo), who's searching for the legendary Power Stones after hearing about them in an ancient family legend. He's also skilled in boxing, and is all around just a cool dude who loves adventure. I think he has a sick design and I feel Power Stone is sorely underrepresented in Vs. games - still zero playable appearances in Mahvel or SNK or Tatsunoko. Zero. Zilch. Nada. Nothing but cameos. I think it's time we fix that, and Falcon is someone who I feel would be a great pick! Though I'd also like to give a shoutout to Rouge, who's probably the most popular Power Stone character and actually has been considered for these kinds of games in the past and is just Also Very Cool - I think she should be put forward someday too. But I went for Falcon!

As for how could he fight, he has his aforementioned boxing skills, plus the ability to throw some explosive punches and the wide variety of items featured in Power Stone. He also has his Power Change form, which he transforms into after obtaining the Power Stones, that gives him some more firepower in battle, being able to fire out missiles and do a cool Shinryuken thing. He's cool!!!!
As for Konami, with tonygameman tonygameman 's permission I'm gonna go ahead and submit his Pastel pitch. I was gonna submit her for the 80s round but then I found out she technically debuted in a 90s game so
Konami Fighter - Pastel & WinBee (TwinBee)

TwinBee is a cartoon-themed vertical-scrolling shoot 'em up video game series, which was created by Konami for the arcades in 1985 and centers around twin bee-shaped anthropomorphic androids named TwinBee and WinBee as they fight off the enemies to protect their home in Donburi Island. The game quickly became a success to the point it started the "cute 'em up" subgenre alongside SEGA's Fantasy Zone (which was released the next year) and spawned multiple sequels, manga, radio drama and anime adaptations with cameo appearances in other Konami franchises. The character designs in almost every single game in the series since Detana!! TwinBee in 1991 were provided by a famous Japanese animator, Shujirō Hamakawa (also known by the pseudonym of "SHUZILOW.HA"), who also worked on Thundercats, Transformers: The Movie, etc., thus pretty much establishing the series' tone itself and having been heavily involved in characters and the games' stories.

Introduced in Detana!! TwinBee, Pastel is the deuteragonist who takes the role as WinBee's pilot and a second player, being part of the TwinBee Team alongside her cousin Light (TwinBee) and little brother Mint (GwinBee), led by her grandfather Dr. Cinnamon, who created the bumblebee androids themselves. She is a gentle, outgoing young girl who spends most of her time keeping peace in Donburi Island, succeeding her father Donnamon (from the original game), and her future descendants, Whip (from Moero TwinBee/Stinger & TwinBee 3) and Chime from Mine Yoshizaki's manga spin-off of Detana!! TwinBee, sharing a great friendship with Madoka (who debuted in 1993's Super NES game Pop'n TwinBee), who is her schoolmate/neighbor and is usually accompanied by her ship WinBee. She even had published numerous musical albums based on the anime series, which were dedicated to her objective on becoming a popular idol singer and once appeared as a guide/host alongside WinBee in a interactive activity game on computers, TwinBee PARADISE in Donburi Shima, even turning herself into characters from other Konami games.

While TwinBee himself would work as a fighter on his own, Pastel is certainly said, a fan favorite (and was proven to be the most popular character, even being used as the poster figure and before she was named), since she made multiple cameo appearances even as a playable character in many other Konami games, such as the Ganbare Goemon series (even appearing in an OVA based on TwinBee, Gradius and Castlevania), Wai Wai Bingo, Konami Krazy Racers, the SEGA CD and PlayStation versions of Snatcher, Bombergirl, Battle Tryst, etc., even having a few characters modeled after her such as Pastel Bomb in Taisen! Bomberman and Erul Tron in the Otomedius series (where WinBee also appeared as a boss in Otomedius Excellent), with characters from other franchises having seen sometimes cosplaying as her, like the protagonist's love interest in Bass-Tsuri Shiyouze! (with him being identical to Light) and Homura Akai in Tokimeki Memorial 2.

Borrowing from her role as a unlockable character in Battle Tryst (her ending), Pastel herself is capable of fighting with boxing techniques by using gloves, her gymnastic skills for twirling/flip-kicking and even a laser revolver/handgun to fire energy projectiles like in Bombergirl (being labeled as "Shooter" in class). She may also use Bell Power-Ups to make her weapon more powerful with different properties, summon a barrier/forcefield that lasts for several hits and even call out WinBee for certain special moves and supers/Hyper Combos like punching opponents with a enlarged fist (which can stop some projectiles), boosting forward, diagonally or straight upwards with her turbines, using her Olympic ribbon as a whip, blasting opponents with missiles, bombs and sending out an army of miniature "option" versions of herself that flutter everywhere around the screen.

Capcom
  1. Captain Commando - It's Mr. CapCom himself. No explanation needed here. This is like, the most '90's character Capcom has ever created imo, and I really like him. Would probably take after his MvC2 moveset, which is absolutely a good thing as he's a super solid character through and through.
  2. Edward Falcon - I love da Dreamcast. I love da Power Stone. I love da Edward Falcon. He practically already has a moveset laid out for him, and he's been in none of the crossover games (or heck, a proper fighting game in general), so now's a better time than ever right.
  3. Nina - Breath of Fire is actually pretty great and a lot more people should play it. Also Nina is absolutely the weird and comparatively underground left-field character I'd absolutely go for. Would be cool to decide which design we'd go for our pick as well.
Konami
  1. Yugo Ogami - I love Bloody Roar. Konami's venture in the fighting game genre should absolutely get represented in, well, a Konami crossover fighting game lmao.
  2. Pastel & WinBee - Said this before and I'll say it again, an absolute classic and a game which left a bigger impact than a lot of people would like to give credit. Also the moveset opportunities are insane.
  3. Power Pro-kun - Baseball!!

Alrighty, the time for voting has come to a close! Let’s see who our lucky winners for this round are!

Leon: 17
CapCom: 18
Nina: 6
Natsu: 1
Linn: 4
Falcon: 8

Sparkster: 6
Cormano: 1
Power Pro-Kun: 13
Riou: 9
Yugo: 12
Pastel & WinBee: 13

As you could probably tell, this was an insanely close round. First things out of the way, our next Capcom fighter will be none other than the man, the myth, the legend himself, Captain Commando! Congrats to PuyoWitch PuyoWitch for getting their submission in! As for Konami, we actually have a tie between Pro-Kun and Pastel, so I’m gonna do a quick tiebreaker poll. Vote for your favorite here:

Anyway, I already mentioned this in da Discord, but I’m going to be pretty damn busy with finals this week. As a result, I likely won’t be around as much to update the thread and whatnot. I still wanna move on to the next job, but this one’s prolly gonna be open for a while so I can finish my school year. And I think this will be a good one for us to sit on for a while.

Job #24: Submit a Street Fighter and Metal Gear assist!

Remember when I said we would start doing assist jobs soon? Yeah, well soon is now and we’re finally going to be getting in our first batch of assist characters! And what better place to start than with our two starting series’? Both Street Fighter and Metal Gear have a wide range of iconic and memorable characters, a lot of which would be nice to have represented in some capacity. However, we only have so much space for newcomers and each series can only have up to three reps each, so there’s a lot of em that will end up missing the cut. So why don’t we throw some of the underdogs a bone and at least guarantee them a spot as an assist? If you’re not familiar with how our assists will function, here’s Tony’s pitch for how they’ll work:

Job #21: Another Mechanic - Summon/Assist System

Returning from Marvel vs. Capcom: Clash of Super Heroes, this mechanic allows the player to summon a randomly-selected assist/helper character who performs a certain move before leaving, but they can be knocked away with a hit and only be used with a limited amount of times in-battle, however.

For Konami vs. Capcom, some balancing tweaks and changes are made such as assists being choosable before the match/arcade mode, able to perform three different moves (light, medium and heavy) depending on the attack button, their moves becoming stronger when the player's Affinity reaches higher and the ability to perform super moves themselves, which can also be activated during a team super, though it wastes half of the super meter/bar and also costs two assist uses.

As an example (though not a submission, which I feel would be a free-time thing like Capsule Toys in Battle of AGES, unless we decide on how many assists we'll have - and no, don't think about immediately deconfirming future fighters), the Red Arremer (or Firebrand as he was called with a former/species name in Japanese versions of his own games) from Ghosts n' Goblins:
  • Light - Red Arremer spits a slow-moving fireball straight forward from it's mouth. When an Affinity is higher, a fireball moves faster and does more damage.
  • Medium - Red Arremer flies into the air, summoning a small Blue Killer that floats towards the opponent and attacks with it's small claws. When an Affinity is higher, Red Arremer will summon a group of three Blue Killers instead, which does more damage. Based on how Red Arremer King attacks Arthur in Ghouls n' Ghosts and how it summons demon enemies (especially Puchi/Petite Devils) in SNK vs. Capcom: SvC Chaos.
  • Heavy - Red Arremer hovers into the air and performs an angled-downwards diving attack in an arc to the other side. When an Affinity is higher, Red Arremer will grab the opponent while diving and flies towards the ground to slam them after finishing an arc. Based on Demon Missile's heavy version in MvC3 and one of the attacks it performs in the series.
  • Super - Red Arremer uses the Crest of Infinity to transform into a purple Ultimate Gargoyle and then floats into the air, releasing out a blue multi-hitting, dragon-shaped stream of flames by breathing it from it's mouth while sweeping it up. Based on Firebrand's Dark Fire Hyper Combo in Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and the Dark Flare attack in Demon's Crest, which Firebrand acquires when unlocking the Legendary Gargoyle form.
So the main gist is that they’ll have four different types of attacks dependent in the button you use when summoning them: Light, Medium, Heavy and Super. Light’s your weak but quick attack, heavy’s your stronger and slower attack, medium’s somewhere between the two, and the super is the ultra strong powerful attack that uses up your meter. Make sure you include all of these attacks in your submission! You don’t have to go super in-depth, but at least give a brief description of what each attack does. Feel free to submit an assist for both Street Fighter and Metal Gear, but if you only have time to create an assist moveset for one, don’t feel too pressured to do both. Also, any character who wins will be disconfirmed for the base game. Keep that in mind when deciding on a character to assist-ify. Anywho, submit away!

Revolver Ocelot

One of the most important characters in the whole metal gear saga. His attacks would consist of him shooting his revlover in various ways.

Guile
A popular and iconic Street Fighter character. It makes sense to include him alongside the various Konami soldiers. When summoned he will attack with his Sonic Booms.

Light Attack: Guile kicks upwards with a flash
Medium Attack: Guile kicks upwards forwards in uiqck succession
Heavy Attack: Guile crosses his arms and sends out a spinning crescent-shaped wave of energy.
Super Attack: Guile crosses his arms and sends out a massive hurricane of golden energy

Eyoooooo guess who just finished their semester and can actually get back to running this thread now? Thanks for bearing with me through this long absence, and now that I'm done with school for the summer, I can dedicate more time to this thread. I still have life obligations, mind you, but no assignments will be a huge weight off my shoulder. Anyway, I've left yall hanging for long enough, time to move on with the thread.

First thing, Guile and Revolver Ocelot will be our first pair of assist characters!!! Honestly a really strong starting pair that compliment each other incredibly well. That does mean that both characters are out of the running for the base game, so keep that in mind for any future character jobs. Now onto the next job! Congrats to @Darkonedagger for getting in our first batch of assists (also don't worry too much about the attacks, just write them in whenever you can). Onto the next round!

Job #25: Submit a Capcom stage and a Konami stage that debuted in the 1990s

I mean, no duh. We already did the 80s equivalent of this job, why wouldn't we continue the decade-themed stage trend with the 90s? Yall know how this works by now. Talk about what the stage looks like, potential cameos, potential visual gimmicks, or anything else you think is necessary to point out. Just like the corresponding character job, it doesn't matter if the series started in the 90s as long as the location itself debuted in that decade. Also nothing from series that already have stage representation. Alright, submit away!

Job #25 (Konami): Tree of Legends (Tokimeki Memorial)

4A0275B3-9A91-4A92-995A-9B095D60AA5E.jpeg

“Do you think love can bloom, even on a battlefield?”

At Kirameki High School, there’s a large tree known as the Tree of Legends that’s rumored to have incredible power. It’s said that if two people confesses their love under the tree, the couple will live happily ever after and spend the rest of their life in a fulfilling relationship. Sounds romantic, right? So we’re gonna take this location and have our wacky cast of characters fight near it.

The stage takes place directly in front of the eponymous tree, with the Kirameki High building visible in the background. Cherry blossom petals dance in the sky as the fight progresses, and in the background you can see various Kirameki High students going about their day. I think a fun idea would be if each round took place during a different period of the day. Round one would take place in the morning right before school where students are entering the building, round two would be during the afternoon when students are still in class, and the final round out take place after school with all the students hanging out and participating in after-school activities. As far as specific cameos outside of the main Tokimemo cast, I think having some of the Rival Schools cast and Sakura showing up would be fun. Also whenever a fighter lands the finishing blow, the visuals change to a silhouette style similar to the cutscene from the Super Famicom version of Tokimemo.

Capcom Stage: U.S.A. (Darkstalkers)

61A3E8A2-0268-403F-BE75-EAD02A725192.png

So Darkstalkers has a lot of visually striking stages that I would love to see translated into 3D. Pyron’s stage is a personal favorite of mine that I was considering, but I ultimately settled on Felicia’s stage because I think a casino stage would be a ton of fun. Also we can’t have a Konami crossover without some reference to gambling :4pacman:. The layout would be near identical to its Darkstalkers incarnation, with all the bright lights and cats running along the stage. I can’t think of anything special for cameos outside of maybe some Palico and other cat-themed characters.

Anyway, onto the next round.

Job #26: Submit a Capcom character and Konami character who debuted in the 2000s

It’s finally time to tackle the oughts! Though the arcade market might not be what it used to be, both Capcom and Konami continued to pump out high quality games during the 6th and 7th console generations, and even put out some bangers on handhelds. Honestly, I think this job would be the perfect opportunity to get some newer faces in here. Our roster has a very heavy 80s and 90s lean right now, and while that’s pretty much inevitable given the nature of this crossover, I think some more “recent” faces would help our roster not feel too reliant on nostalgia from those time periods. You know the drill, submit one character from each company, but don’t feel too pressured to do both if you only have an idea for one. Also worth noting that now that assists are a thing, any character who’s on our assist roster isn’t eligible for the base game, but that doesn’t really apply to anyone who’s eligible for this job. Anyway that’s all I have to say for right now. Submit away!

Job #26: Capcom Rep: Bandero (Lost Planet)
Bandero.png

Lost Planet may not have gotten a new game in a while, but the original did really good numbers for Capcom, and it was important enough that the mech in it managed to get in Tatsunoko vs Capcom as a playable rep, so I think it's time we give it a proper spot in one of these games, especially since the Konami side is going to have a heavy sci-fi and military focus between Metal Gear and Contra. If I was to rep one person, I think it needs to be Bandero, one of the two main antagonists of the first game, and the ultimate weapon of Neo Venus Construction (NEVC). Why? Honestly, just...look at him. He looks like he could be a Metal Gear villain already, and I think his whole personality is that of just a big, overconfident, and sadistic supersoldier would fit right in.

He is second-in-command to a whole army that he can use at his disposal, and on top of that, his brute strength, and his proficiency with a handgun, he also has the power of a 'vital suit' mecha nicknamed "Heavy Ivan", loaded up with electrical drills and rockets. Simply put, he'll bring every character on every side, Konami OR Capcom, to their knees.

Job #26: Konami Rep: Eike Kusch (Shadow of Memories)
Eike Kusch.png

Time to hit this project with an absolute wildcard. Eike Kusch is the protagonist of the PS2 adventure game Shadow of Memories (known as Shadow of Destiny in America). He is a young German man whose murder and resurrection kicks off the story of the game. He's saved from death by a mysterious, androgynous figure with red eyes known as 'Homunculus', who gives him the ability to travel through time and solve his own death before it happens. While the game doesn't give you a whole lot in terms of combat, but I'm imagining him as a lot like a Phoenix Wright-type character, where the various villagers he helps out will come help him in his moves, and he does have three major items to help him: a digipad, which lets him travel through time, a rope he can use to tie people up, and a frying pan he can use to hit enemies with.

Beyond just the fact he's a fun weirdo of a guy, which I think would add a lot to the cast, I think there's a lot of fun potential with this crossover considering he's not the only one from a game here where someone solves their own death (hint hint). Furthermore, I think there would just be something fun about this completely average German man looking to solve his own death caught up in the middle of just whatever is going on with the plot.

Job 26 (Capcom): Trucy Wright (Ace Attorney)
1652147980342.png

Come one, come all, and feast your eyes on magic spectacular as the great magician Trucy Wright steps up onto the stage! Making her debut in the fourth Ace Attorney game, Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney, Trucy is the adopted daughter of Phoenix Wright and the last in the line of great magicians known as Troupe Gramarye. As a magician, Trucy has access to all kinds of unique ways to attack, such as her world-famous Magic Panties, a comically-large pair of bloomers that can make objects disappear and reappear before your very eyes! She of course knows the usual tricks as well, such as levitation and conjuring, but she also has access to her trusty assistant, Mr. Hat!

"Why yes, I do think Trucy could be an excellent addition to this roster!"

Plus, as she's often Apollo Justice's assistant during investigations, Apollo can show up in her moveset to lend a hand with his Perceive ability that allows him to see minor movements a witness is making and determine if they're hiding something.

I'm a big fan of Trucy as a character, and while I weighed a few potential options (and definitely understand if people would rather see Phoenix himself make it in for that all-star appeal), I settled on her for now because she's got a fun and unique moveset and vibe that I think has the potential to really gel with more magic-based characters on both sides. I'm a huge fan of Ace Attorney and would actually say it's my favorite series ever made so I'm a fount of ideas when it comes to it.

Job 26 (Konami): Reiko Hinomoto (Rumble Roses)
I know I submitted her previously, but darn it, I'm doing it again. Rumble Roses came out in 2004 and I just think she's neat! Here's the original post I wrote for her, explaining the game she's from and her character and gameplay ideas and such.

Job #11 - Konami: Reiko Hinomoto (Rumble Roses)
View attachment 348618

Okay, let's walk it back and before I explain Reiko I'm going to explain Rumble Roses.

Rumble Roses is a wrestling video game published by Konami in 2004 for the PlayStation 2. It's a game built around the concept of women's wrestling, or joshi, though with of course a heavy fanservice element to it as well. However, what makes this game interesting is that the original Rumble Roses was developed by Yuke's. Yuke's is a company that starting with the WWF SmackDown series handled all the WWF/WWE games until WWE2K14, and one of their games is WWE SmackDown! Here Comes The Pain. HCTP is basically considered one of the all-time greats, a crazy over-the-top game with extreme effects and numerous ways to beat your opponent from post-to-post. It's widely considered the best game since WWF No Mercy, a generation's idea as to what a perfect wrestling game should be.

Rumble Roses is basically just a reskinned HCTP but a bit less serious. It's very silly and over-the-top, and the actual gameplay is just as great as HCTP. Don't bother with the sequel, by the way, as it wasn't done by Yuke's which means it basically becomes the soulless fanservice mess people think the original is.

Anyway, the thing about Rumble Roses is that the story mode is insane. Reiko is ostensibly the protagonist of Rumble Roses, a heroic second-generation wrestler who enters the tournament to find her missing family. She fights with standard wrestling grapples and suplexes - her signature move is the Sunrise Suplex, in fact.

And in the course of this story mode, we learn the other thing that makes Rumble Roses extremely cool: Every single character has a "face" version and a "heel" version - every character will be able to flip their alignment at different points in their story, changing up their gimmick and movesets completely, in a sense doubling the roster size through this alone. And yes, that includes Reiko!

You see, during the story, the kind-hearted Reiko joins a biker gang! She sheds her former persona and becomes "The Queen Cobra", Rowdy Reiko!

View attachment 348619

Now, there are several ways you can incorporate these two in a roster like this, including by splitting them into two characters, but I think this makes for a PERFECT install character. Reiko can turn heel mid-fight, changing her moves to more vicious and meaner ones and giving her her new look. And then, of course, she can turn face again. It's all up to you to balance her stances and pick the right persona for the right moment.

Job #26: Amaterasu (Okami)

Amaterasu_main_artwork.png

Amaterasu is the main protagonist of Capcom's 2006 cult classic, Okami. She's a sun goddess who comes down to the human realm in the form of a wolf in order to seal away the eight-headed serpent Orochi once again.

I'll admit that Okami is one of those games that I've always wanted to play but never found the time for, so I'm probably not the best person to be making a case for Ammy. That said, I deeply appreciate the game from an artistic standpoint, and I've always found her to be an incredibly inspired choice in MvC3. She's a cool dog who fights with a giant paintbrush and reflector, how does that not sound fun? Even if her playstyle isn't as novel anymore due to her appearance in MvC, I still think she would gel well with our roster's vibe. We already have one Konami franchise that draws from historic Japanese influences with Ganbare Goemon, why not throw one in on Capcom's side? It also helps that Capcom just really likes Okami. They'll re-release the thing whenever they get the chance, and aside from the aforementioned MvC3, they love referencing Okami in other crossovers such as Teppen and Monster Hunter Rise. That's a lot of love for a game that didn't sell too hot on its release. In conclusion: dog good, put dog in game.

For my Konami pick, I'm going with my girl Heather again.

Konami Side: Heather Mason (Silent Hill)

View attachment 348590

Heather is the main protagonist of Silent Hill 3 and the adopted daughter of the first game's protagonist, Harry Mason. Seventeen years after the events of SH1, she goes back to Silent Hill to exact revenge on The Order and to learn more about the bizarre circumstances surrounding her birth.

Silent Hill has quite a few potential fighter options. The ever-iconic Pyramid Head is probably gonna make it in somewhere down the line, but should we include one of the protagonists, I think Heather would be our best bet. She's clearly a fan favorite and has even appeared in Dead by Daylight as the main Silent Hill survivor rep, so there's precedent for prioritizing her in a crossover like this. And because Silent Hill 3 gives Heather a **** ton of weapons to work with, there's no shortage of moveset material to pull from. She can use firearms, katanas, stun guns, pipes, mauls, and even the unlockable flamethrower and beam saber weapons. If you wanted to get really out there I guess you could also use her super secret Princess Heart transformation as one of her supers, in which she transforms into a magical girl and shoots lasers out of her eyes. Yeah Silent Hill can be ****ing weird sometimes, especially with the unlockable easter eggs.

Job #26:
Gene - God Hand (Capcom)

ezgif-1-a142e5025b-removebg-preview.png

Gene. God Hand Gene. Gene God Hand. He's one of the wielders of the legendary God Hand, and he's on a quest to look for the other God Hand. From the titular game, God Hand, released in 2006. The year of God Hand.

God Hands down, easily one of my favorite games on the PS2. The gameplay is deep as ****, the soundtrack bangs, and it's just an awesome experience through and through. Although sadly, it never really quite took off, due to it getting overshadowed by other games on its release, on top of it getting bombarded by critics. Although, I can assure you, this game will grind through your analog sticks like butter.

So what do you do in God Hand? Well, after getting an arm dismembered by some thugs, regrowing that arm as the God Hand, and meeting up with Olivia who threatens to remove the other, you go around kicking some major ass. But to stand a fighting chance, you have to master that God Hand. Because well, a reason why I'd like to think the critics didn't particularly enjoy this game, is that this game is pretty damn hard. The fighting system is pretty easy to learn at its core, but insanely hard to master, and that's exactly how I want Gene to feel like in a fighting game as well.

Okay, so, Gene will have a load ton of moves, he needs to. Because for those unaware, throughout the course of his game, you collect several moves throughout the campain which you can remap to several buttons. There are in fact 117 of them! And conversely, I want that to be Gene's main gimmick if he ever comes over to a proper fighting game. Indeed, I personally want his gimmick in Konami vs. Capcom to be the fact that his move list equates to that of an average Tekken character in size (okay that's a slight exaggeration, but you get the point). Oh right, he'll also need to have an install. In God Hand, when your tension meter became full, it was possible to temporarily unleash Gene's God Hand and become jacked as all hell, all the while a theme song will be playing in the background. That's right, we got an entire Dragon Install into this thing. Maybe have his Roulette Wheel moves as supers? All in all, I want to completely ride on pure adrenaline and muscle memory again in the scenario of Gene getting in a fighting game.

Gene's Infamous Ball Buster, one of his Roulette Wheel moves.
Why yes, I do want to see someone get smacked by this during EVO Finals.

Also just take a listen to his theme. It rocks. Actually, while you're at it, go take a listen to the entirety of God Hand! It's got an amazing soundtrack! On that closing note, I do wonder how many times I've written the words "God" and "Hand" down...

Job #26:
Django - Boktai (Konami)

ezgif-1-7217493248-removebg-preview.png

I kinda promised I'd submit this one whenever I got the chance, and well, seems like right now is a better time than ever. I'm submitting Solar Boy Django from the Boktai series of games as one of our 2000s reps. The first game of this series released in 2003 after all.

So, as I've explained in my Fog Castle submission some months ago, Boktai is a pretty neat game released for the GBA that got produced by the one and only Hideo Kojima himself. And as such, in true Kojima fashion, the GBA cartridge for the game itself had a solar sensor equipped within it, which would sense how much the sun was shining on your cartridge, which in turn would enhance your gaming experience in a multitude of ways.

But what about Django himself? Well, he's just a young boy who initially set on a quest to kill the vampiric Count and avenge his dead father. He is the wielder of the Gun Del Sol, which was given to him by his late father. On his adventure, he learns of a group of beings called "Immortals", and their Queen, Hel (who was then revealed to be the sister of Django's mother, who is actually the Lunar Maiden). He encounters a multitude of allies as well, such as his trusty sunflower companion, the Great Master Otenko, who is actually the terrestrial embodiment of the sun's will believe it or not. We can't forget his anti-hero of a brother Sabata either, who was even made playable in the 2nd and 3rd Boktai games. And honestly if this series were to have a 2nd rep, he'd be a viable contender.

ezgif-1-83d00b1ad2.png

Django's Gun Del Sol

Now, primarily, how would he fight in a versus game? I would mostly envision him as a speedy resource-based zoner who keeps his opponent at bay mainly by utilising his Gun Del Sol, which initially only shoots balls of Solar Energy. In the Boktai games, this gun was rechargeable by sitting in sunlight, or by charging manually. In Konami vs. Capcom we'd preferably just make it so he recharges manually à la Happy Chaos, no matter the time of day on the stage for obvious competitive and balancing reasons. Although, luckily, the Gun Del Sol ended up to be heavily modifiable and can don all types of attacks. From sword-like spreads to whole ass grenades and batteries. In the Boktai games, you can actually overheat the Gun Del Sol if you're sitting in intense sunlight for too long, which would end up damaging Django upon firing. You know what I'm thinking, I think it would be pretty funny if we translated that specific game element to this game somehow. But I'll just let your minds do the thinking, cause man there's a lot to possibly unpack with this character moveset-wise. As a balance measure, we can just make his normals short to compliment his relative short build among other things to accomodate for his speed and projectile overload.

In terms of character theme, a modern Western-styled remaster of his theme from Boktai 2 would be dope. Kojima sure loves his movies and Boktai is no exception from that influence, the games are pretty much based on classic Western movies. And characters with a vibe like those are few and far between in fighting games.

I want to join, so here I go.

Job #26:
Ryu - Breath of Fire IV (Capcom)

Ok this one is quite tricky, Ryu is the main character of Breath of Fire, the thing is that Breath of Fire's first game was in 1993 so that would disqualify him right?, well....the thing is that there are more than one Ryu, every Breath of Fire has his own Ryu and Breath of Fire IV (released in 2000) is not the exception.

I never get the opportunity to play this game sadly, but I can say without doubt that its the best BoF in the saga by far. The mechanics, the graphics, the story, everything is on point. A curious mechanic now from this game was the Combo system that gives additional effects to the spells when they are used in a certain way, for example casting two ice spells in a row would made a stronger ice spell or a wind spell before a fire spell. Ryu in particular has the ability to summon Dragon Gods for assistance and even transforming into a dragon himself. I find this traits very cool for a characterand even then if its necessary to supply some things I think it wouldn't be bad to also use some of the other Ryus moves of other BoF.

I was searching for Konami games from the 00's but I didn't find anything that I would have some knolowdedge so I will just leave it with this.

1. Trucy (surprisingly inspired pick! I like the idea of having these more off-the-wall choices that may not make sense on paper but fit right in with the crossover. This is the kind of pick that, to me, has the exact spirit of the Weird **** factor in old Capcom Vs. rosters and I love that)

For the record, this was an amazing selection and it was tough as hell to actually only vote for 2 each. All of these definitely deserve more shots to get in.

Capcom
  1. Trucy Wright - Speed Weed said it best. If you'd put this gal in any Capcom crossover game (barring the SNK ones), she'd fit right in. While I personally initially had other characters in mind for Ace Attorney, she definitely fits right in like a glove and screams the type of left-field character Capcom would go for in crossover rosters. Love it, amazing pick.
  2. Ryu (BoF IV) - Great pick! Capcom JRPGs aren't the most common thing in the world, so it'd be a neat side of the company to represent, on top of having a neat potential moveset focusing on draconic stuff. Breath of Fire IV is also just a beautiful game that people need to appreciate lol.
Konami
  1. Reiko - Grappler wrestler lady that has an install. I think this speaks for itself.
  2. Heather - Said this once and will say it again, I would definitely prefer it if we get any of the actual human characters in instead of the usual Pyramid Head. I feel like she could have some cool potential mechanics, and hey, it's Silent Hill, gotta get in.

Okay, so normally I wouldn’t end the rounds before the 24 hour mark, but I have some stuff I need to take care of and our regulars have already cast their votes, so I’m gonna call it just a bit earlier than usual. Anyway, here’s the results:

Bandero: 3
Trucy: 8
Ammy: 4
Gene: 7
Ryu BoF: 5

Eike: 0
Reiko: 9
Heather: 7
Django: 11

The next two characters to join our roster will be none other than Trucy Wright and Django!!! Absolutely incredible pair, if I say so myself. While I’m not at all opposed to Nick getting in, I think Trucy is a really fun choice who helps with giving our Capcom side a more unique identity. Django is also a really fun pick who has the benefit of having already crossed over with Mega Man Battle Network. Really happy with the outcome of this round. Congrats to Flyboy Flyboy and Mr. Robotto Mr. Robotto for getting their characters in. Onto the next job!

Job #27: Submit a Mega Man and Castlevania assist

We’re continuing to build up our assist roster by hitting two of our other big starter franchises. Mega Man and Castlevania both have absolutely massive casts of iconic characters, many of which we likely won’t be able to include with our limited roster space and three characters per series limit. As such, I think they make the most sense to be the focus of our next assist job. Remember to include a light, medium, heavy, and super attack and a brief description of what each move does in your submission. And remember that any character who wins this round will be disconfirmed from the base game.

That’s it from me, submit your Mega Men and Castlevanias

Job #27:
Zero - Mega Man X

Wait What?
Probably a lot of people would prefer to see Zero has a playable character but honestly is time to give the spotlight to other, Zero is the Mega Man character with more appearence, he even appeared in more games than X that it supposed to be the protagonist in his saga, heck, they made a saga just for him!. I don't hate Zero but I think there are too much potential in other Mega Man characters that would be more pleaseant and interesing to see (Mega Man Battle Network rep cof cof). So for the moves.
  • Light - Zero does a basic combo with his sword finishing with a rising slash.
  • Medium - Zero use the F-Splasher, a move where he dash covered in a wall of ice.
  • Heavy - Zero uses Tenshouha, a big blast of energy covers him damaging the foes around him.
  • Super - Zero uses Rekkoha, Zero punches the ground and eleven beams of light appear from above, hitting all enemies in the screen. This move its also used in Marvel vs Capcom 3 and Tatsunoko vs Capcom.
Job #27:
Death - Castlevania (various)

The reasons why I select him is because my heart can't include any main character, in my head names like Charlotte Aulin, Jonathan Morris, Soma Cruz, Trevor Belmont or Shanoa passed away but I don't wanted to select them since I think they have potential for more, so instead my face turned around the enemies, and just behind Dracula himself the most popular boss (arguably) is Death, and he has bonus points to be an important character in some games like in Symphony of the Night. Some of the moves are taken from Castlevania Judgment:
  • Light - Death launch a pair of twin Death Scythes.
  • Medium - Death launch his scythe forward, the scythe will spin for a moment for return later to his master like a boomerang.
  • Heavy - Death launch a big skull has a projectile, the skull can be killed but its preferable to do it with a long distance move since the mere contact with the skull will deal damage.
  • Super - Death uses his more mounstrous form from Symphony of the Night, in this form Death launchs loads of Death Scythes before dissapear.

Job #27: Guts Man
Gutsman.png

One of the more iconic Robot Masters IMO, Guts Man would actually make for a pretty solid assist.

  • Light: Guts Man jumps in the air and slams on the ground, causing an earthquake that damages the opponent
  • Medium: Guts Man uses his Super Arm to throw a medium-sized boulder at the opponent
  • Heavy: Guts Man uses his Super Arm to grab the opponent and throw them across the stage
  • Super: Our boy pulls out a much larger boulder, so much so that he has to use both his hands to hold it. He then jumps in the air and dunks the boulder on the opponent

Job #27: Maria Renard

Maria_-_Harmony_of_Despair.png

For a series that endulges in the macabre as much as Castlevania, you probably wouldn't expect a 12 year old girl to be among one of the most skilled demon hunters in the series. Debuting in Rondo of Blood, Maria is a distant relative of the Belmont clan who, despite her age, is an incredibly proficient demon hunter who can call upon animal familiars to assist her.
  • Light Attack: Maria sends out two doves and the Cardinal Suzaku, which fly out to attack the opponent before flying back to Maria
  • Medium Attack: Maria sends out the cat Byakku, which charges directly into the opponent and runs off screen
  • Heavy Attack: Maria calls out the turtle Genbu, which briefly creates a forcefield around the player which damages any opponent who gets caught in it for about two seconds
  • Super Attack: Maria calls out the large dragon Seiryuu, which flys around the stage and deals massive damage to the opponent.
I'll close this job in about an hour or so.

Servbot
A really iconic part of a popular sub series.

Light Attack: Servbot bashes a few times with toy hammer.
Medium Attack: Servbot runs forward with a bunch of stuff in his hands and falls, sending them flying at the opponent.
Heavy Attack: Servbot gets in a little mech and dashes forward, punching and shooting at the opponent.
Super Attack: A whole crowd of Servbots dash forward, trampling over the opponent.

Okie dokie, voting time has come to a close. Servbot and Maria Renard will be our next two assists! This does mean both characters are now disqualified from being playable in the base game, so apologies to the Servbot Army for crushing your dreams. Congrats to @Darkonedagger for getting their assist pitch in, and also me I guess. Onto the next job!

Job #28: Submit a Capcom stage and a Konami stage that debuted in the 2000s

Yall knew this was coming, time to do our decade stage job. Any location from any game that released during this decade is eligible as long as it’s not from a series that already has a stage on our roster. Describe what the stage looks like, any potential visual gimmicks or cameos, and anything else you think would be important to include.
