I’ll nominate something that has a plot like Subspace, but subspace bombs are not used to destroy the World of Trophies, and stages are based on multiple Nintendo universes. I like the idea of having the main villain residing in a different dimension, which will be accessible once the main world bosses are defeated.

Pokémon Trainer Moveset
Totodile
B : Water Gun; Totodile charges up, then spits out a stream of water that pushes opponents, but doesn’t deal damage.
B + Forwards : Bite; Totodile leaps towards the opponent, and then can bite them up to five times by mashing B if it connects.
B + Up : Waterfall; Totodile creates a wave of water and rides it upwards.
B + Down : Dive; Totodile dives into water and pops out after a bit. When used in the air, Totodile instead dives toward the ground enveloped in water.

Grovyle
B : Razor Leaf; Grovyle unleashes a rapidly spinning crescent-shaped wave after firing a leaf from each hand (4% each leaf, small knockback). If the attack gets hit, the remaining leaf travels faster.
B + Forwards : Pursuit; Grovyle dashes forward to grab the opponent. If it connects, Grovyle hops while spinning on its side and slams the opponent on the ground (14%, OK knockback). Grovyle travels slightly further when this move is performed right after a dash.
B + Up : Leaf Blade; Grovyle slashes upwards, hitting the opponent with the three leaves on its hand (5% each hit, OK knockback)
B + Down : False Swipe; Grovyle performs a backflip kick that moves it slightly diagonally forward, leaving a flash in its wake. If used on the ground just as Grovyle gets hit, it doesn’t move off the ground, but instead tanks weaker attacks and crumples opponents on the ground.

Charizard
B : Flamethrower; Charizard steps back and shoots a stream of flames from its mouth, which can be directed up or down by tilting the control stick.
B + Forwards : Flare Blitz; Charizard cloaks itself in fire and tackles straight forward, hitting anyone in its path, but takes recoil damage.
B + Up : Fly; Charizard spirals into the sky and travels very high, but can’t damage opponents.
B + Down : Rock Throw; Charizard takes a rock from the ground (or something else, based on the terrain) and hurls it.

Final Smash: Triple Finish

As for Pokémon Change? You do this by pressing any of the taunt buttons.

• Up / 1 changes to Totodile
• Side / 1 + 2 changes to Grovyle
• Down / 2 changes to Charizard

When you’re already playing as the Pokémon correspondent to the taunt direction, you get one taunt per Pokémon.

I figured Pokémon could use a representative from its newest (at the time) generation, and I'm certain that just like in the timeline of the canon Super Smash Bros. Brawl, Game Freak is going to want to keep promoting this Pokémon after their immensely popular debut in the 8th movie. Speaking of which, the movie released in 2005 in Japan, so it counts on that front as well.

Advance/Nintendo Wars is a very active franchises at this time with entries on NES, SNES, GB, GBA, & now moving to the DS. May not be as popular in hindsight but could be a cool promo for a newer character for Orange Star & the sister of the series kind of Anna equivalent Nell.
